Living in the city of leicester ( what we called leii) was intresting. It's a complete different vibe to london for sure. The shops were basically the same. Just that they didnt have much corner shops open all night. Night life was intresting because its a combination of the leicester locals and students. In terms of food I wish they had a variety of different restaurants but its all worth your money. There wasnt much activities to do well the only thing i did was bowling, flip out and cinema all the time. Everything was usually far away

Leicester is a wonderful city. It has great places to eat which includes a huge food court linked to the shopping centre high cross. There is a wide range of shops. It is brilliant for its night life providing several different places to go! I loved living there!

Lots of variety of different foods. So many takeaways, restaurants and dessert shops to choose from. Quick service even at busy times.

For a city this small, they certainly pack a lot in, including both the University of Leicester and De Montfort University. The city is a historic meeting place and Leicester is home to a wide variety of races and cultures making for a unique university experience.

Leicester can provide very different experiences on a night out with friends, Mosh is always a good time and is a good price for entry and drinks whilst Club republic has a very hostile atmosphere both inside and out. In the centre of town there's a large shopping centre with a wide variety of shops and good places to eat as well. The public transport is a bus network which runs fairly efficiently but is overpriced.

The food and shopping is great as well as the nightlife but that is about it! We only have escape rooms, the parks and cinema as fun little activities unless something is organised like the fireworks which is fabulous

Leicester is a great historical city with plenty of lovely architecture. It's mostly flat, making it perfect for riding your bike between locations. Highcross is bustling and has everything you could want in terms of shopping. There are lots of restaurants to choose from also. My favourites so far are San Carlos and Kokoro.

Lots of great shops and restaurants at highcross, really close to DMU campus which is in the city centre. Everything I need is within walking distance, I haven't needed to use buses. The queen Elizabeth leisure centre have great facilities and offer a range of activities

Always something to do, never boring. Would recommend living in Leicester as a student as there are always amazing deals on around the city, in addition to this the history of the city is proudly celebrated.

I live in Leicester because I go to University there. The city has so many hotspots, multiple nightclubs and the Highcross Shopping Centre has all the shops you could want! Some areas of Leicester can be dangerous, but in the city centre, it's a vibrant city that I love living in.

Leicester is a tremendous city that is improving as I spend more time here. The shopping and nightlife are excellent, and there are plenty of funky artisan places to eat in the city centre.

Food is plentiful with many cheap choices that taste great. Shopping isn't too bad with a few stores like Wellgosh standing out. There isn't much to do in terms of entertainment, cinema is fairly expensive.

Leicester is a suprisingly metropolitan city. Very ethnically mixed which I've always enjoyed. Lots of parks, green spaces and a pretty river/canal. Partly due to the ethnic mix there is a plenty indian and vegetarian food to be had. The city centre is very concentrated and while there are buses around the city I've always found it small enough to comfortably walk everywhere in about 30 mins. There is a suprising amount of things to do with lots of bars, clubs, theatres and a thriving but small music scene. Overall Leicester has been one of my favorite places and has good connections to Birmingham and Nottingham close by. For students there is the advantage of a high student population from the two universities and many activities and societies to get involved with, exploring the city itself will pay off however. Finally the city is very cheap, the market in the city centre is unbelievably cheap and rent is also pretty low.

Fairly cheap cost of living and accomidation. The quality doesnt suffer for this cheapness though, so it's good value for money. Eating out is a pleasure as there is a very wide chose all within walking distance from DMU. The nights out are not the most entertaining ever but there is a decent number of places to go and they are all cheap so its value for money and you can mix it up quite well. Unfortunately this level of choice does leave some of the clubs a little empty on occasions. The main area of the city is very compact and so transport is not needed but there are many buses running regularly and the train station has very good links.

Moving out of halls I spent the next two years of studying with the University of Leicester living in the surrounding area of Evington. Price-wise it was dirt cheap and it seems to be the easiest area to find accommodation for larger groups (6+) in close proximity to the University. It also forms almost a right angle between the city centre and the campus, where both are approximately a 15 minute walk away. The major downsides to living in this area was the noise at night, the houses are typically less homely and the fact that ours was broken into.

A really nice small city. No matter what kind of music you're into you'll find a night out for you. Loads of lovely restaurants with different cuisines. A few nice parks, pretty good for shopping, nice museums and the cathedral is lovely.

The DMU campus is located perfectly 5 minutes away from the city centre, which provides a variety of options for filling up time. Whether it would be a shopping center, a pub or a club, there would be something for everyone anytime of day. Most of the parks are in walking distance as well (from Castle Gardens, which are right next to campus, to the amazing Abbey and Braunstone parks, each of which is 30min away on foot).

Leicester is a pretty vibrant city as long as you're in the city centre with most of the surrounding area being like livin in the countryside. There are multiple things you can do there such as visit their Highcross Shopping Centre which contains a wide selection of restaurants, a big Showcase cinema, and loads of your standard shopping/clothing stores (Topman, H&M, JD, etc.) Its like a smaller Westfield. The nightclubs are pretty good considering how cheap the entry fees are, especially the student clubs, with most places open till 3am. Their takeaway restaurants are also fairly decent for their price and quitw a few are open till very late (Domino's available till 5am). Overall, Leicester is a pretty nice city with a lot of things to do.

Being in the midlands, unsurprisingly, means we are pretty much in the middle of the country! This is great for transport links and visiting friends at other unis. It's so useful being able to get around without having to trek halfway across the country.
