Places in the city can be expensive, you can find cheaper places outside from the centre. You'll never run out of things to do.

Edinburgh has so much to offer in such a small, beautiful and historic city. The location is perfect for so many activities as there are loads of green spaces including extinct volcanoes, there are many historic buildings and underground vaults, and it is right by the sea!

I chose a uni in a city since i'm from a small town as a nice change, Edinburgh was a great choice since there is a bustling city life, it is still very picturesque and a comfortable, safe place to live.

Right by fort kinnard with plenty shops, food etc. Otherwise Musselburgh isn’t very exciting, only option is to go into Edinburgh for a night out and taxi’s back aren’t always keep. But trains and buses in normal hours are fine

I didn't really think about the city of the university I was applying to which in hindsight was probably a mistake because I have now realised how much of a difference it makes to university life. I feel so lucky to have ended up in Edinburgh because it is the perfect city for me to be living in. I absolutely love that I am here for 6 years instead of feeling like it is too long. Edinburgh is such a beautiful city and the perfect size, and it is even better because you can literally walk everywhere. Although public transport is very good, I never need to take the bus and therefore expenditure is less. The only thing I would say about money is that rent is quite expensive. But for nights out it is ideal as clubs are very close to home so you don't have to spend money on a taxi, and if you do it won't be too much. The nightlife is great with lots of pubs and bars too. One of the best parts about Edinburgh for me is also that it caters incredibly for vegans, with vegan options appearing everywhere.

There's pretty good shopping choices, only really on Princes St and northwards; there's cinemas and museums a plenty. The Student Union is rubbish, being expensive and only having one building and one night out. Terrible city for value for money. Plenty of choice for places to eat, and lots of bars.

Edinburgh has everything, city centre has all the shops and restaurants you could need. Go beyond either north or south a few minutes walk and you have an abundance of parks, go for a drive and you can either be at a beach or in the countryside. Nothing I dislike about this place.

Edinburgh is stunning. There's something new around every corner, and although I haven't had the time (or cash!) to go out to eat a whole lot, I've found some really great food places, bars and pubs with quiz nights aplenty. There's also tonnes of museums and galleries to visit if you're feeling a bit more sophisticated and the Royal Mile is an amazing mix of chaos and culture. The castle is amazing to see either when visiting or even just turning a corner and finding it right in front of you. Edinburgh's a bit of a maze. There's an Odeon one bus ride away which has pizza and super comfy seats which isn't actually that pricey if you feel up to venturing a little out of town as well as other cinemas in town without the pizza etc. Great if you love antiques shops- they seem to be everywhere!

A very tourist oriented city due to is historical and geographical location giving it a warm but not student like feeling, the locals are very nice partially due to the sight of often seeing tourists and visitors.

Edinburgh is a beautiful city, with a wide variety of shops, cafes and places to eat (although restaurants are relatively expensive). The city is relatively small which makes it possible to walk nearly everywhere that you would need to - particularly good as it saves taxi money on nights out.
