I love the location because I like the fact I can gp shopping on a good high street as well as go on a walk up Arthur’s seat. Its a nice balance

Good night out at why not and a great cheap night out in hive for the full student experience. Lots of things to do: shopping on Princes street, museums, National history. Can be very expensive in some places but the student unions are great value for money for a night out

Edinburgh is a great city for students as it’s has 4 unis here so there is always something to do and great cheap nights especially to hive where drinks are only 1.50, shopping is great as we have two main streets George street and princes street with a great variety high street brands including river island , vans ,new look and primark of course, there is also a great variety of eateries in the city catering for all cuisines, there is incredible value for money because nearly 90% of places have at least 20% discount and for places that don’t they have discount days for students only

Lots of different themed nights to suit everyone. And who doesn’t love £1 drinks!! The busses are a god send! And the night bus has saved me a fortune on getting home after a mad night out.

I can’t rave enough about Edinburgh, lots going on in terms of culture, food, nightlife, everything. Go somewhere else and you’ll seriously be missing out on something good.

Edinburgh has a great nightlife and plenty action, great atmosphere 365 days a year, great shops and restaurants

Edinburgh's a beautiful town with lots of nice places to walk around in. The nightlife is varied with some cool pubs and bars although the clubs are mostly pretty small and nowhere stays open past 3am (except during the fringe) so it's not really a place for going out raving. It is a very international city with lots of tourists and exchange students which makes it a vibrant and interesting place, but it is also very expensive compared to most UK cities, especially for renting a flat.

Loads of great things to do in and around the city. Great nightlife where you can meet lots of fun people.

Plenty of shops nearby including a lidl which is cheaper than most and therefore very beneficial. Social life in Edinburgh is great for students with all the pubs and clubs

The scenery is gorgeous and the people you meet are some of the nicest. The clubs aren’t consistently great. Some are horrible and some are just too expensive for most students. The pubs are mostly fantastic though, always really cool decor and entertainment.

Nights out and drinks certainly aren’t the cheapest, but they’re a reasonable price and there’s a great variety in Edinburgh. And there’s so much to do, so much culture in the city, it’s really somewhere I could see myself living after I graduate.

Beautiful city, great Uni, can be a bit annoying if you have lectures in Central and at Kings back to back.

The city is beautiful and the university is central to Edinburgh. You’re not isolated on am excluded campus. The street opposite your lectures/tutorials are highstreets with shops, local pubs/bars. The experience between campus and city is one and the same. Couldn’t be better

Great for all other than money.

Busy town, costs are higher for nights out and eating out due to the fact it’s a major city. The city is full of cultural and lots of things to do and go see. The fringe is a great event every year especially if you love alcohol, music and comedy. If you are coming from a small rural village it is quite difficult to adjust to the city with all the people and traffic but definitely worth it.

Great city, Lots of culture and things to do. It has a great night life with lots of public transport to and from towns even in the early hours of the morning. The fringe is always a great event especially if you enjoy drinking, music and comedy.

Very expensive but walkable. Oftentimes frustrated by the large swathes of tourists at specific points of the year, but as cities go there is always a cultural activity or something like that to do. Definitely not a city you can live in on a shoestring. Manageable.

Technically my uni is in Musselburgh but that isn't on the list. However, the train station and buses are right on campus so to get to Edinburgh is super easy and pretty cheap. Tescos, coop, lidl, aldi, ice land and home bargains are all within walking distance and asda is a 10 min bus ride away near Fort Kinnaird which is one of the biggest retail parks around so not too bad. Honestly the location of QMU is probably one of the best aspects except for near Christmas and New Year when the public transport is reduced significantly.

Great nights out and restaurants but sometimes over priced. Lots of different shops in Edinburgh near campus also.

Edinburgh is a fantastic city. The University of Edinburgh's central campus is large and very centralised. Prince's Street and various food shops are just minutes away. Not forgetting the huge variety of bars and clubs to suit anyone's taste.
