Beautiful city with rich culture and nice restaurants. Cab vol is such a fun time for nights out, as is the grass market and cowgate. Shopping on Princess Street is great as you get a perfect view of the castle, especially at the West End. The city feels big enough whilst maintaining a safe and friendly environment.

When I first arrived at uni I was skeptical about Edinburgh but when I was a kid I always went to the festival and that gave me find memories to remember while I was there. When I had spare time I would ask my pals what were the best things to.do in Edinburgh and I began exploring this beautiful city from the inside out. I began visiting the amazing museums whenever I wasn't studying, and I even met my girlfriend in the art museum. I visited the cool vintage shops of the grass market and perusing the ancient but stylish attire. I often went to the berito shops for lunch and I always had fond memories of that, it gave me a fantastic boost of happiness whenever I was down. I honestly can't recommend Edinburgh More. I had and still have great days out there.

Lost to do from nights outs in clubs including WhyNot, Burbon, Shanghai, all have student nights, lots of restaurants, museums, art galleries, beaches, parks, shopping centres, train links to many other cities

Love the city, but need to discover more venues and events. Still need to keep a student budget however.

Edinburgh is a beautiful city. Everywhere you look there is something to do. For shopping, Edinburgh is the place to be. Princes Street, the main street of shopping has everything. However, if you step into Morningside there's a wonderful selection of charity shops which if you're a vinyl record collecter, you can come across some bargains. There are a prolific number of eateries in the city, catering to all diets, allergies and tastes. From independent places like Graze in the Grassmarket to Wagamamas and Nandos.

I recently moved to Edinburgh because of studies and I am already loving my time here. The compact size of Edinburgh with all its cobbled streets a maze of wynds and closes means that getting around this beautifully architectural city means that many people can walk, cycle or catch a short bus to work rather than having long commutes. The main part of the city is made up of two halves - The Old Town and New Town both with a real distinctive character and atmosphere. The best thing about Edinburgh is the incomparable location due to the countryside being a stone’s throw away and the Highlands only a short drive away. Absolutely recommended to visit this beautiful city.

Edinburgh is a fantastic city which plenty of stuff going on. The city has a great culture scene with loads of theatres, cinemas, museums (obviously the fringe). Great places to eat out, near the sea and easy to get into the country

Great place to live, feel very safe. Rent prices are a little high but very happy with the flat I currently live in. Lots of things to do and see which makes weekend plans easy to plan. Lots of independent shops and cafes which I like.

The 'inspiring capital' of Edinburgh has all the amenities of a cosmopolitan capital city. It is the city of story tellers and ghost tours thanks to the underground vaults that lurk beneath towering tenements. It is undoubtedly an absolutely wonderful place to live with a calendar jam packed with events and festivities. Edinburgh is favourite, being at uni here is like a home away from home. The history, the Royal Mile, the world-class University, friendly people, endless events and things to do - need I say more? Just come and visit and make up your own decision, but be warned you might not want to leave.

Its the best capital city in the uk! New Town has every shop you could dream of, and the clothing brands cater for every budget. There is always some exhibition happening at one of the many art galaries, and things to do only increase at christmas and in august. So much cheaper than London, and youre spoilt for choice for clubs - especially in Cowgate. Only 4/5 for transport because i still don't understand how the trams work. Buses and of course Waverley station work very smoothly.

With Edinburgh being such an aesthetically pleasing city in the first place the local community play off that very well. All wonderful shops available to the public fit into the setting of the historic city perfectly and portray Scotland beautifully to those that visit.

Student life is great, lively and there’s always things happening. More expensive than other student towns but you have the benefit of being in the city centre.

A quirky, oldly-wordly city with character down every street! So much option regarding food, performances and night life. In amongst all the history and mystery of this place, and as a student you are still able to feel and home but be awed every day.

Beautiful city. Full of life especially during summer, extraordinarily vibrant during the Christmas period. Night outs are also incredible, try clubs like Lulu's, Why not and Opal. The shopping experience will leave you coming back for more especially when there are sales all over ! They go all out.

Edinburgh is a fantastic city, characterised by beautiful architecture, a world renowned food scene and cafe culture and vibrant nightlife and cultural scene. There is plenty to do and pricing is much cheaper than London though the quality of equal standard. Walking around is easy though do prepare for very cold weather.

The city of Edinburgh is a beautiful place to go with many lovely sights and attractions to see. Princess street has every shop you could possibly want, where you could shop all day long. Beautiful walk through princess gardens and of course the infamous Edinburgh castle where you can learn about the history of the city

Plenty of things to do and lovely atmospheric city. Would recommend visiting the castle, camera obscura, the dungeons. Visited during the Christmas period and had a lovely time at the Christmas markets. Lots of places for food that are reasonably priced.

There's always something going on in Edinburgh; live music, ethical markets, yoga tasters, language cafes, vegan cooking classes, pub quizzes, spiritual healing... I could go on. Its the perfect place to let your hippie ethical vegan flag fly.

Nights out are very diverse overall, but I've personally found a lack of Hip-hop/RnB club nights. Food availability is very good but take-away closing hours usually don't exceed 3am, which is inconvenient after a night out. Shopping is very accessible - new town for mainstream places and old town for quirky finds like vintage and charity shops. Quite a few various things to do - hike up several hills, different art galleries and pubs to go to. Value for money is generally good considering UK prices, much cheaper than other major cities like London.

Overall, Edinburgh is a great city to live in as a student. Everything you need is easily accessible and you get the feeling for city life without the frantic atmosphere found in other large uk cities. Parks, sports facilities and shopping are rife throughout the city and there's always plenty to do. The nightlife is a slight weak point; it can take a while to find the different nights for you and even then, the likelihood is that it will set you back a fair amount of money. The cost of living is the major setback in Edinburgh and you have to travel further out to access any larger supermarkets.

Edinburgh is a great city to live in, especially as a student. It's easy to walk most everywhere and the buses are easy to use. There is so much to do, there are great (free!) museums, so many good restaurants and bars, and lots of nice outdoor space like Arthur's seat and Holyrood Park, the Meadows, and the Royal Botanic Gardens. Edinburgh always feels super safe too, and people are generally very friendly. It's an easy spot to take day trips or weekend trips to other places around Scotland too, as the trains are pretty fast and cheap. Overall great city to live in!
