I would say that Exeter is the perfect place for someone who doesn’t want a big city, but still wants enough hustle and bustle to keep themselves busy with both nightlife and daytime shopping. Exeter is also really close to the sea and so it is perfect for the spring and summer months when you want to head to the beach with friends - Exmouth is a 25 minute train ride away and ticket fares are really cheap. For people used to places such as London, you may find Exeter a little too small for you, but I believe this is what makes me love it. You can walk everywhere, but buses are frequent should you prefer not to walk.

Great place for drinks, entertainment, meals out. Loads of choice within the centre of Exeter and caters to a wide variety of tastes!

Exeter has a good balance of the old and new; interesting history with the spectacular cathedral, Roman Wall & remains, plus a great free museum, along with a good variety of shops, restaurants, parks & a lovely quayside. The city is easy to navigate & I learned my way around quickly. It's also easy to find your way to the surrounding countryside & I highly recommend walks around Riverside Valley Park, Ludwell Valley Park & many more natural areas. Exeter is also in a good spot for day trips, including to Exmouth, Exmoor, Torbay area, Sidmouth, and a lot more of Devon.

Exeter is a lovely city with easy access to everything, mostly all in walking distance. The surrounding areas to the city itself provide a lot for students to do in their free time.

I went to the University of Exeter cornwall campus down in falmouth. Despite initially being weary, I grew to really fall in love with the place. It’s incredibly small so very much unlike any other university experience. There are 3 main clubs that everyone go to. The latest time they open is till 3 am so if you want to find a night out till 6/7am you’ll have to look for house parties. These are the main workhorses of the party scene in falmouth. Walking along any of the student roads (Marlborough, Trevethan, Killigrew) you can stumble upon a true underground experience, guaranteed to give you a night out like no other. Plus there’s loads of cute small bistros and bars to explore while you’re down here despite being a bit more upmarket (£££!!!) it’s worth it to find your own space where you may frequent with friends. Aesthetic wise however, this lovely little town cannot be matched by anywhere else. Countless beautiful beaches to explore and many new ones to find, outdoor adventures galore and even calm chilled spots for relaxing after a big night out. Falmouth really is out of this world!!

Great location for a uni - not too far from the coastline so perfect for weekends. Town is great for shopping and picnics in the park!

Exeter is a wonderful area - full of shops, outdoor and indoor activities, scenic views and bars and clubs which contribute to its chilled out and fun night scene. The campus is closed off and feels like a bubble yet so close to the town. Although quite hilly so be prepared to gain some leg muscle. Also buses run frequently with great access for disabled people.

Exeter has something for everyone. It has a couple of great nightclubs and loads of pubs for those who enjoy dancing and going out at night. It’s also really close to some fantastic beaches which you can reach easily via public transport, like Dawlish, making it brilliant in the warmer weather or for a winter stroll. Excellent value for money as almost everything in Exeter is easily reachable on foot, so you never need to spend loads on public transport. Exeter is also one of the biggest cities in the South West, meaning that there are loads of shops to visit, including a large John Lewis store.

I love Exeter centre it’s diverse with plenty to do and lots of food shopping options, nights out are pretty limited with fewer clubs and it can be an expensive place

Although Exeter isn't the biggest city, it does have so much to offer for students. The centre so easy to get to from Halls or any student housing really, and has plenty if high street shops, restaurants and cafes. The best part is definitely the independent streets, like Fore street, with vintage stores, coffee shops and a host of independent and ethical living places. Theres plenty of clubs/bars to choose from to suit different preferences, and although none are particularly huge, theres always something on whatever night of the week.

Very small town with nothing to do, streets are very dirty no matter the weather, worst when raining

The location is perfect if you like a mixture of the beach and the countryside, as well as shops and restaurants featuring food from all over the world. You can walk/cycle anywhere within around 15 minutes and there are many train stations nearby to allow you to explore out of the city. There are many coffee shops along the key which are great for catching up with friends or doing some work.

Exeter is a wonderful location in terms of the amount of green space it has, mixed in with a vibrant city centre which is just a 5 minute walk from they key. It has a wide range of restaurants featuring food from all over the world as well as endless coffee shops for relaxing or studying.

Sometimes you just need to break out of the campus bubble and when those times come you'll find Exeter's location near wild Dartmoor or sandy Exmouth a dream. All of this without being too far off the beaten track, with easy train and road links to Bristol, London and the network beyond.

I love Exeter - being in my final year it now feels like home. It’s small which means it’s easy to get around and explore, but there are also amazing places just a short while down the train line. Being down south and close to the beach means summer bbq’s after exams ( or at the beginning of the year when it’s still pretty warm) are the best way to chill out and get a tan! The music scene is also pretty elite - I’ve seen loads of my favourite artists including Alt-J, Jake Bugg, Michael Kiwanuka and Nick Mulvey - all of them but Alt-J at the uni itself. The nightlife is also pretty good. Perhaps not as big as Bristol or Manchester, but when you’re with all your mates you’ll have the best nights ever there.

Exeter is a very fun city with lots to do and see. It's not far from the beach so summer days I spent BBQing surfing or having a dip! Dartmoor is nearby as well, if you are keen to explore the surroundings. The city offers night life - it may be known for being small but means you will always know lots of people when you are out which is nice! There's lots of cafes and shops to keep you busy, comedy shows and the quay is a fun walk or day out.

The University of Exeter's location is great. Most of the accommodation is within a 20 min walk and some are on campus which is very convenient. The location of the university itself is just outside of the city centre, about a 15 min walk which is great for when you can walk home after a night out. The train station is just like 10 mins from campus and the area as a whole is stunning.

Exeter is a great place as the gateway to the south west meaning there is always loads to do as long as you don’t mind a train or bus ride somewhere. Exeter itself is a fairly quiet city in regards to club nightlife but the variety of pubs, bars and restaurants make up for it if that’s more your thing. The shopping is pretty good but can never compare to a large city, but it can offer other ways to entertain such as the Quay and the cathedral and so on.

Exeter is extremely expensive, however considering it is a small city it has a lot to offer. There are a good variety of restaurants, bars and shops that will cater to a vast majorities needs and tastebuds. It is a great student city, small and safe, with some cute and cosy local business. Exeter has a good amount of nightclubs, though they mainly play house, indie and mainstream pop. All in all it’s a nice city, with plenty to do. However, living there can be very expensive and it is not culturally or racially diverse.

Where my location is based on campus, it’s perfect with lectures being a maximum of a five minute walk away. The walk to town is about 15 minutes which is fairly hefty but unavoidable. The shops offer everything you need.

Exeter is a lovely place to go to university. It's quite small sovyou can walk everywhere, you're close to campus, the centre and friends. It has a rannge of clothing shops, plenty of coffee shops and affordable pubs and restaurants (highlight The Firehouse). There are 3 main clubs which make great nights out for students. Accommodation is nice but very expensive and there's not much available after February.

Exeter is a lovely city, it's got old rustic buildings with a lovely greens dotted around the city. It has a variety of shops providing for all tastes.

Exeter is a really cool city and it is cheap to get to London on the coach. There are lots of good clothes shops and other shops. The uni is close to the town centre (15/20 mins walk).
