Preston

Preston is a small city, but a city regardless. It has a few good clubs, there should be something for everyone. There are quite a few good restaurants to find in the city centre, from chains like Nandos, Pizza Express, and some lovely independent or smaller ones to be found that can be good value for money.

The location is great it is near everything, halls, nightlife, shopping, takeaways and right in the centre, easy to navigate and also the train station isn’t to far away I come from the country and this is ideal for me as it’s easy to find everything and to get to one side of campus to the other is 20/25 minutes (I do have small legs so could be quicker for other people)

Better than I expected when I found out I’d be going here but still very dead and boring town. Quite rough, known to be where people who failed their alevels go to uni

Fabulous place to meet friend and enjoy a good night out. Activities and events are always happening.

Preston is a small city, it has everything you need without being huge and overwhelming. Great high street for shopping and lots of unique restaurants and cafes to chill out in. Night life is good with two main clubs, but they always have events on and have a good atmosphere. Preston has many different retail parks to shop in, with two main cinemas. One of the cinemas is situated at the docks. This is a lovely place for runners, dog walkers and just simply to chill out and have a few drinks by the water. There’s a few restaurants here aswell so you can make a day of it. With blackpool being close by if you want a bit more than Preston has to offer you can just jump on a train and in 30mins you’ll be in the holiday town where you can go clubbing, go on the theme park or chill on the beach. In my opinion Preston has something for everyone, and can be enjoyed by all.

Preston is the capital city of Lancashire. It is home to the University of Central Lancashire which is currently expanding its campus to incorporate a new engineering building, student union facility and masterplan. Near the university itself there are lots of places to eat on Friergate Street. It is also about a 10 minute walk to the town centre.

It’s been alright but I think I’m a few years it will be much better because the city is getting new buildings and really beggining to develope economically

Preston is a lively city with plenty of nightlife to keep you happy while studying at UCLan. They have a variety of activities such as cinemas, bowling and escape rooms. Furthermore, they have plenty of eating establishments including Nando’s, Turtle Bay and even McDonalds delivery!

The nightlife is pretty good in Preston and a lot of people from out of town come for the nightlife which is good. Not all the clubs are great but there are some brilliant clubs. It does lack on nice bars and restaurants though i feel. The shopping is alright but very average, compared to cities like liverpool or manchester wherei would prefer to go and shop though, it's very average. There is only a few shops i'd actually prefer to go in and it's just very small really. For things to do it is very limiting. There are places such as energi and the cinema but overall there isn't a great deal of choice of what to do. Overall, Preston is good but it can be a lot better in areas such as where to eat/drink and things to do and places to shop, it is nice how it is a small city though.

Preston is a great place to go out at night and a great place to learn more about the city. it has great pubs and clubs and has a nice atmopsphere. plenty of shops to go and shop in and plenty of people to meet. there is a retail park, town and food shops near by to the college that is easy access.

Preston University is situated around a ten minute walk from the city centre. This means that the noise from the local night clubs doesn't disturb anyone in the halls of residence making it a nice place to live. Shops like aldi and poundland are pretty close by and there is a co-op on campus open in term times. There is also an on site bar with events on most nights including karaoke and quizzes and a Starbucks in the atrium. On the way back from the night clubs to the halls, there are plenty of takeaways on route. There are several night clubs that cater to different music tastes. Switch nightclub houses three floors of different music like r&b, pop and club/ house music. Much like switch, warehouse nightclub also houses three floors though is a much smaller establishment with floors playing things like rock and emo, indie, and retro which is my personal favorite on a Friday night. There is also pop world, glovers, evoke ( not correct spelling), and a few others but rift is the only one open till 6am though entry stops around 3. Preston houses two witherspoons, they are great on price and taste and you will struggle to beat there 2 for £10 pitchers price unless you go to ships and giggles. Ships and giggles is where me and my friends spend most of our evenings during term time. It's more or less on campus and has a lovely and friendly atmosphere. They do £5 pitchers of cocktails and have a variety of very creative shots. There are two games stations and a pool table. They house events like karaoke and open mic nights. They have a lovely little beer garden round the back which fitting with the theme of the bar, has bobbins for tables. The only location problem I can think of in Preston is how far the cinema is away. It's almost in the next town over and you have to get a taxi there. But it's big and fancy and we'll worth the fare. There's a train station in the centre of Preston at the end of the main high street. The huge buss station is easy enough to find as its at the other side of the newly refurbished market. Both are around a 15 minute walk from campus. The high street hosts a large variety of shops including plenty of big brands. Primary is definitely a favourite and walking towards it you can't help but take a short detour into Lush.

Fantastic staff around the campus. Never a dull day. So many activites to do from playing table tennis and pool to sitting in a libarary and going to eat. There's always something to do and the University of Central Lancashire ( UCLAN). There is also a fantastic park near by, located 10 min away from campus . Avenham Park is a gorgeous place to relax ,soak in the sun and enjoy the lovely view. If you're ever feeling peckish head down to the pavillion in the park and feast on lovely cakes and biscuits as well as thirst quenching hot drinks.

Perfect location near campus, town and train station. All walking distances From each other. It’s a very quit city and could do with some more entertainment.

At first glance, Preston doesn't seem very impressive compared to bigger and busier cities in the UK. However, the longer I've lived here I've found that it's not so bad. The high street has plenty of shops that I love like New Look, Topshop, Primark, H&M. And there are narrow streets off the high street that have cute boutiques, antique shops and bakeries. The nightlife is fun too. There are multiple fun bars and clubs that make weekends amazing. My favourites are Kuckoos, Hartley's, Warehouse and Blitz. :)

Great city, with good transport links. A lot of options when it comes to food. Plenty of students and modern students accommodation. Finally, it suprisingly has a pretty good night life.

I really enjoy the town in which my university is located! As I get the train, the university is only a 5 minute walking distance from the train station and so is the town centre! There’s also easy access to restaurants and clubs because they are all surrounding the university and close to each other which is great for students!

Studying at uclan, is brilliant and has evreything a student needs in walking distance. The university has great social areas and a brilliant libary and with town being a 5 min walk from campus it's a win win.

Preston is a small city but has lots of things to do. It’s got everything from food and dronk, shopping a small nightlife in regards to clubs but I don’t really go out that much. The train station and bus station are only 5 minutes away from campus and run very frequent services to across the whole of the north and south of England.

First of all, Preston is not the biggest city around and doesn't have the 'big city' vibes. But it makes up for it on everything else. The university itself is virtually in the city centre which means that any uni accomodation is within a 15 minute walk of the shopping centres, various clubs and pubs and a variety of places to eat. Things like JustEat are very easy to use as almost all takeaway places will deliver to your door within 30 minutes of your order. In Preston, there are around 4 clubs which are regularly used by students, but more around town if you look for them. Sadly there isn't a great deal to do in Preston in terms of leisure, other than the cinema which is a good 25 minute walk from campus; however, it has great bus and train connections with bigger cities such as Manchester (just 40mins by train), Liverpool and Blackpool (20mins by train). Overall Preston's value for money is rather good as there are a lot of good quality budget shops around such as Aldi and homebargains. The accommodation is also fairly cheap compared to other cities. Places to eat such as weatherspoons offer great cheap, high-quality meals, perfect for students.

Good. On main Trainline and close to m6. Is within close proximity to Manchester and Liverpool, not that far from Leeds. Can get from London Euston to Preston in around 4 hours and most trains go via Birmingham.

Good enough place to study, but coming from a bigger city originally I find myself quite bored. Nightlife is pretty good as well as the shops other than that there isnt much else. Uclan is a great university though.

Not enough to do in the city. Same clubs and same places to eat and nothing to do recreationally. Can leave you quite bored if you’re looking to have fun but if you’re looking to study it can be quite useful.

The city has everything someone would need and is extremely safe compared to most cities. There is plenty of ways to get around cheaply and everything that you need shopbwise is all well laid out and close together.

Preston is nice if you’re used to living in a small town. Moving from London was a massive change. There’s lots and lots of restaurants not as many bars. The clubs tend to be the same old songs and same old djs so it gets boring after while. Drinks can be cheap sometimes though. Shopping is rubbish in Preston but Manchester and Liverpool is only an hour away.
