The city offers various things with value for money. The restaurants and local shops of food have a variety of cuisines and offered for a great value price. For nights or days out the city is filled with different adventure spots and is also near to other big cities like Manchester and Liverpool, which have even greater variety of things. A great place to visit here is Avenham and Miller Parks which has a wide area of field with attractive views of nature, if you are thinking of a day out or picnic with your family or friends. You will also find that the people here are very friendly and welcoming.

Great vibrant city with a buzzing nightlife. Plenty of restaurants and other eating establishments available. Train station is well connected, trains go to Edinburgh, Manchester, London, Blackpool etc. Preston is host to quite a few concerts, I saw the Sherlock's there and also pigeon detectives. Guild hall is a great venue. Continental pub (a bit out from centre) offers great food and also a brilliant intimate music venue.

I've been in Preston for 5 years now, and I have to say that it has most definitely grown on me. For those of you that are like me and don't enjoy drinking, clubbing and wild nights out, it may seem dull at first, but as soon as you get a couple of good people to hang around with that can all change. There are so many places to eat, some beautiful parks and loads of cute little cafe's (shoutout to the cat cafe!). Also, if you wanted to do some exploring, the transport links are banging and you can get to the beach or Manchester in less than an hour.

The nights out are average switch and evoque are the only two clubs worth going to. Go to bongos bingo when it’s on it’s very good. Ships and giggles good too

The city has great travel links and is easy to get to. There is a great selection of shops and restaurants that are reasonably priced and have good quality.

Great city with lots of places to eat and beautiful avenham Park. Student friendly. Shopping is great but not the best in terms of variety. Everything within walking distance and great clubs and pubs.

The shops are alright, there’s not that much to do - heard level is good if you’re into bowling and crazy golf, but the food isn’t too bad. Transport awful, when am I not waiting for a stagecoach bus 10 minutes after if should have arrived?

A great night life for students, most of them have offers in the week for students and have varieties of different music in the clubs. It's a very student built city with UCLAN constantly building around the city. The food is great with loads of great restaurants.

York is a lovely city to live in, it is beautiful and full of interesting things and shops etc. accommodation is a little on the pricy side compared to other cities and potentially not the best value for money but it's a beautiful city. The nightlife is pretty good and with Leeds being 30 minutes away it's easy to go to bigger city and go out there too

Drinks are relatively low priced compared to surrounding cities. Shopping is varied; high-street shops offering lower end prices due to being in a low populated city. Food range is excellent for a small city, with a range of restaurants in city centre.

Food is really good especially at sids convenience store. 5/5. Baluga is a rip off. Switch has nonces in. Overall I think 4/5 is a fair but reflective rating

As I grew up in Preston and then moved away in recent years to study, I have seen huge changes happen in recent years and really seen the city develop and come together. The overall appearance of the city has cleaned itself up and is really quite a scenic and beautiful place. With areas like avenham, the new indoor market and also the iconic bus station being standouts places for me.

Preston's a great place to go for a drink or eat in some where , friendly atmosphere and lots of shops to shop in the town centre. There a few places to do things at including the cinema, bowling, etc.

My favourite part of Preston is the shopping, specifically, for books. Not only does Preston have a very large Waterstones, and a good selection at WHSmith, it also has the Works for cheap boxsets of books. It also has 2 very old independent booksellers, and a good Oxfam bookshop all in the centre. It has really good public transport links, both with the Bus Station and the Train Station. It has a good variety of places to eat and go for a drink with friends.

Lots of new shops, restaurants and bars opening up all over the city, definitely got better over the years

Fab food at the Preston area and lovely nights out. Could do with better and more restaurants and it's mostly take outs

Good for travel trains wise. Buses can be unreliable. Nights out are poor excusing switch n balug. Entertainment comes in its varieties such as cinemas (vue n odeon) and trampoline parks such as energi. Other than that its pretty limited

Preston is a lovely place with lots to see, a lovely looking town and lots of things to do. It is fun both during the day and the night which is good with either family or friends. There are many restuarants and bars to go to, but also lots of clubs to have fun in with friends. There are cinemas and it is all very easy to access.

Everything you could need is in walking distance from the campus, the train station is 10 minute walk from the town centre and the university.

Absolutely fantastic, got mugged there a few times but was worth it for the sesh. Pretty sure my sandwich at 3 Monkey's got spat into but tasted delicious so I don't care, added a bit of flavour to it anyway. I got absolutely mugged off by a girl with mayonnaise on her face whilst there, but the guy who cucked me is fair sound. They have a Gregg's like every other FLIPPIN city so that's special. Lancashire is one of the most deprived areas in Britain but hey ho we can't all be Bill Gates. I am an official member of Preston grime and this is where I spend most of my free time outside of university. Overall splendid xoxo.

Great food depending on restaurants. I would personally recommend Cocos, Jafa, Go falafel, Ice Burg for main dishes. Heavenly deserts is quite nice as well. In terms of shopping loads to do considering how small Preston is. 2 malls and deepdale a bit outside the city centre.

Such a good place to go university. Everything as a student is around you which is just perfect. The university itself is great it offers a variety of services in order to support students all the way through there studies. There is social events that can help you branch out to others and socialise aswell as areas you can study 24/7 for those dreadful deadlines.

Preston has everything you could need in regard to a range of shopping options, nightlife and eating out to suit a student budget! There are some nice places to go out too including avenham park or the entertainment at the guild hall- from shows to bowling. Preston is also great for transportation to local areas and beautiful countryside, but also great for most major cities- Manchester and Liverpool close by, but also 2 hours to London or Edinburgh. The city of Preston isn't massive, so would likely suit an individual who doesn't want an overwhelmingly big or bustling place to live, but instead enjoys the convince of having everything close by or the hustle and bustle of big cities easily accessed when wanted. The city is also under great redevelopment making it an exciting and increasingly great place to live. I would argue there is probably a little bit of something for everyone when you know where to look!
