It isn't a very small town with limited shopping and entertainment. There isn't a variety of activities or transport. Although transport in hatfield is cheap relatively, there are not many activities or things to do. There is only one nightclub which is the student union club which can be expensive sometimes and there isn't a choice as there is only one club in hatfield

Hatfield is a very small and quiet place. This makes it feel like a really safe place to live which i like, I can go for a mcflurry at 2am and not feel like I'm unsafe. Because Hatfield is small it means that everything you need is in touching distance e.g. shops, asda, cinema, restaurants are all a short walk away. The issue is, if you want anything more you have to go further afield to watford or stevenage which is not ideal.

The area is quiet but full of students. The shopping centre is in a good location for us all to get to. Nightlife is good with many bars to go to also. Many shops that give student discount.

I must admit there is very very little to do in Hatfield. Unless you have a car so can visit nearby Watford or St Albans weekends can be very boring and there is very little to do. The night life is OK however again unless you want to visit the forum every time you go out a taxi is needed to go anywhere else. The only pro about Hatfield is that it’s less than 25 minutes from Kings Cross by train and the trains run past 1am so London is always a possibility when you get bored of Hatfield and St Albans.

Its a nice area and everywhere is easily accessable (near 2 train stations to get to london too). Shopping centre is in walking distance, as is McDonalds so perfect for when you stumble home drunk!

Nights out at the Forum located at the university are very good. They have events on a Monday, Wednesday (best night), Friday and Saturday. You can also buy tickets to other clubs such as Batchwood, Pryzm and Hydeout located in Watford if you are bored of Hatfield. Shopping isnt great in Hatfield. You have the Galleria which is an outlet shopping centre. A few decent shops such as Nike and Calvin klein but the restaruants are the best thing about the Galleria. You can go into St Albans which is about 5 minutes away for better shops. You have a wetherspoons about 5 mintes away from uni which is nice and cheap! There isnt a lot to do in Hatfield but the university puts on a lot of activites and trips for you to do! The uni has a pub/restaurant called the ele house which is cheap and always have sports playing so is nice to meet a few friends there in the evening and play some pool. You can get a train from Hatfield into Kings Cross which takes 20 minutes so can easily get into london

Big shopping outlet, good places to eat. Not a lot of clothing shops. Nightlife is average. Train station close by. Only 20 minutes or so away from kings cross. Not much to do in Hatfield. But st Albans and Stevenage are close which are great places to visit.

There is a direct service to London from the train station but to get to the train station you need to use the bus service which is quite poor and unreliable. The only ‘fun’ thing to do is to go to the galleria where there are quite a few options but still the only ones in town.

Small distance to London, only half an hour by train but otherwise inconsistent commute within Hatfield. Outlet Mall near the University with good range of shops, restaurants and Odeon.

Easy access to London, town centre has the necessities you need with cheap grocery stores around Hatfield. Both campuses are relatively close to one another. The railway station is easily accessible through bus or even walking. Taxis are £3.50 all around Hatfield which is very cheap and waiting time is not long. Galleria shopping centre has a variety of shops including an arcade, perfume shop, many outlet stores and food restaurants to choose from.

Absolutely nothing to do in Hatfield outside of the university campuses. The shopping centre is all outlets of shops students don’t use, and there are no bars or pubs student friendly other than a Wetherspoons.

There’s not too much to do in Hatfield, Galleria is the only option but this contains shops of little interest and a few restaurants. Surrounding areas in St Albans and Watford are better. However, short train ride away from London.

The location of the university is ideal since it is just outside of london and nearby to st albans. Also has good transportation links as you can easily get to wherever you’re going especially london because of hatfield station and buses running from the station too

Great location as it’s easy to get to from the main motorways and surrounding areas. Shopping is close by and on campus shops have everything you need

I personally feel like it is in a great area as it’s not only close to London, but it’s also 20 minutes away from Watford two major cities. There is the galleria which has quite a few basic shops for basic needs, it has a cinema and a few restaurants if you want to go on a food night out. For clubs we have the forum, or we will go to Watford. There’s a massive Tesco and Asda for shopping. The transport system is very easy and cheap, the bus stop is right outside of both campuses. Overall Hatfield is a decent town.

One of my biggest problem for three years was being late due to the buses not being on time or buses that do not come often. All my lectures were on de havilland campus and the buses that use to come often always use to go college lane first before de hav which always made me late, the buses when leaving uni late do not come often and during winter when it’s freezing isint ideal. The area does not have a variety of food shops, the restaurant at the uni is quite expensive and don’t want to be paying 5pound for a meal as we’ve already paid so much for transport.

Going to university in Hatfield is great! There is the central hub of the two university campuses which are fairly busy but slnkt as busy as London and for people who enjoy the calm of nature there are plenty of green spaces in and around the university in Hatfield. The main night out club is the Forum which is located on the college lane campus which is fantastic as it is super accessible and they have a great variety of nights out. There is also a good amount of food in and around campus with a Starbucks and Subway on campus as well as an on campus pub and Student shop as well as ocassional pop up food trucks serving mexican, Indian and a few others. Outside of university there is a local Co-op and an Asda as well as the Galleria for eating out with the majority of high street resturants such as Nandos, Pizza Express, Harvesters and many others. In terms of things to do and shopping stores, Hatfield lacks in that area but with London so close it is not hard to plan an weekend or night to do fun things and shopping in London.

There is the Galeria shopping centre, the shops aren’t very good there’s only GAP and a sports shop really, although there are lots of restaurant and food places like Nandos, Frankie and bennys, prezzo, harvester etc. There is the uni night club and club Batchwood which are local and decent places for a night out. It’s not too far from London or Watford where Prysm is which is a bonus if you want to explore a little further. I wouldn’t want to live in Hatfield as there’s isnt a main town or park really, everything is quite spread out so you’d need to drive and unless you’re at uni there’s not a lot going on.

Location of the uni is extremely close to shops and lit nightlife! I especially like how there is a shuttle bus that will take you between the two campuses and everyone is just so friendly. 10/10 would recommend.

Great night life every Wednesday with cheeky Wednesday at the forum, the university’s club on the college lane campus. Good variety of food including Chinese, African and so on. There is an outlet shopping centre to get clothing at discounted rates (The Galleria).

Close takeaways, student accommodation which allows children to stay to, shopping centre with outlet stores restaurants, cinema and children's soft play, close to train station, hotels and buses, Starbucks on campus, swimming pool with rock climbing on campus, and gym on campus, great library facilities, uni owned night club also 5 mins from ca,pus

When I had started at University of Hertfordshire, I wished I had explored the area of Hatfield before accepting to study here. Although Hatfield is made up of lots of students from the university, it is not an area suited for students especially for social life.

Good nightlife the forum every monday wednesday friday saturday: too expensive to go london . Surrounded by restraunt varying from cheap to expensive Galleria shopping but limited shoping Not really alwys on sale

Coming from a small town i wanted a Uni that had lots going on but still had a bit of a rural feel to it. For me Hertfordshire does this perfects wouldn't go anywhere else.
