The University of Birmingham is very well connected with its own train station that goes directly to Birmingham New Street. The students halls are located only a short walk away and many students live in neighbouring Selly Oak, which also has its own train station on the same line as the university stop. There is everything you need within walking distance or a short train ride into the city centre. Buses are also not too expensive.

Aston uni is a cheap uber (apprx £4-£6) away from broad street and Arcadian, where a lot of nightclubs are located. There is small Tesco on campus, which is great for last buying lunch before going to lectures or the library. The bullring shopping center is also within walking distance; shops like Topshop, Selfridges, Primark, JD can all be found here.

Birmingham is proper city for students, amazing pick of clubs around Broad street, Arcadian in China Town and Digbeth for alternative souls. Great shopping in city centre,Bullring and John Lewis. There is amazing Ladypool road with great choice for food lovers, anything you can think of from desserts to restaurants. City is really beautiful, every area has its own amazing parks and high streets with shops and restaurants.

Hailing from London, it has helped me being in another big city like Birmingham. The transport is good and affordable here making it easy to get to wherever I want to be. There are loads of places around me to do food shopping and there's a 24 hour Tesco down the road if I need to pick up anything essential at any time of the day. The UOB campus is lovely with many modern buildings as well as some nice older ones. The gym and other sports facilities are also nearby.

I dont like the mentality of people living there. Everything is about working and there is absolutely no honest kindness between people.

Food is always amazing, i love shopping so the bullring works nicely & value isn’t too much. I dont really go for nights out but when i have done the nightlife here is pretty awesome

It’s good for a quiet space to work because of how quiet the uni is, being in the Perry Barr campus (city north) of Birmingham City University. The campus I live at involves a free bus pass which is very useful for getting around Birmingham, seeing as public transport is so expensive.

Birmingham City Centre is super convenient and super close to the university. Not to forgot being walking distance always help when you need to run and grab last minute party items. Nights out here known and everyday there a student night in some club, and don't worry there are always party no matter what time of the year. And let's not forget the food! You have a range of food types that range is price all located close to each other. Having the bullring and market so close to each other means you can really get your shopping done all at once without having to travel for for a good bargain. China Town also being so close means that you can get authentic food without having to travel to the other side of the world. Additionally, being multicultural society means that you can really get to learn about other peoples culture and share your own. There is always a sense of community in Birmingham which makes it homey.

I grew up in Birmingham, so I know the city very well! With more canals than Venice, Birmingham is a wonderful, culturally diverse city. With a buzzing nightlife, from broad street to Arcadian, Birmingham is the perfect night out for students. The transport links are great, with trams, trains and buses, for most student halls it is less than a 20 minute commute to the city centre. The city centre has various restaurants and shops, many of which offer a student discount which is fab

It’s such a lovely town, the uni is clean and in the heart of Birmingham. Food shops and the city centre is local and so food and clothes shopping is always easy. The nightlife is amazing and so when your not studying during the week you can be out partying at the weekends. Local buses and trains run to almost anywhere you will need to go and come regularly. The team at the uni are very friendly and the food there is also great. Everyone in and around Birmingham is so polite and very welcoming. The uni operates a wide variety of courses available both full time and part time to a wide Verange of individuals. The uni is clean. The uni is spacious and the uni is welcoming and enjoyable. It’s a nice environment for vulnerable and those that are less comfortable to come out of their shells.

Overall a very good city and highly recommended for students looking for everything they need within a close proximity. Central Birmingham caters to all cultural and personal needs as the city is so diverse. In regards to shopping, the Bullring has everything you need including various places to eat and shop. Entertainment you have places like star city where you can enjoy the cinema, golf etc.

The bars are great in Birmingham but costly on the weekend, the nightlife on the weeknights is amazing! Definitely an amazing student city! Food is great both cheap and fine dining and the bullring has shops selling all kinds of stuff, plus the market and high street next to it. There's some good parks as well but most entertainment is costly! But everything is at your fingertips!

There are lots of night out events in and around Birmingham for everyone! Broad street hosts a range of clubs playing top hits to old naughties and they often have student nights that are cheaper. There are also alternative places such as snobs and propaganda! Food in Birmingham is great! There are tonnes of vegan options and health food places like natural healthy foods as well as all the chain places like pizza express. There are so many little independent places that you are sure to find something! The bullring is the main shopping mall in Birmingham and has high end shops through to usual high street shops like topshop. If you venture down to digbeth there are also a tonne of thrift stores and little independent places

Birmingham is Student central as everything is in the city centre pretty much. Broad street is the place to go for a night out and Mooch is a good hotspot but there are alternatives all along the street with most of them very accomodating to students. The transport can be a pain if you are used to it more frequent and the need for exact change as you can not get change back from them. However, the cheapness of uber makes up for it. Going back to the city centre, its a great shopping centre and if your into fresh fruits and veg a good market too, I would recommend avoiding saturday afternoons though it can be veryy busy as it seems like the whole of Birmingham is there but still great. Ordering food is such a doddle in Birmingham especially in the centre and everything is available if you check around on the various apps but going out to eat is also good, just check out tripadvisor or on days out you will come across places to try. I myself still have places to go like Rub smokehouse. Starcity is great for entertainment cinema arcade games and eateries are all in there and if your in Birmingham Cadbury world is always a must!

Great city with lots to do, many opportunities, friendly people, lovely shops and a wide range of activities for all types of tastes. Several different cuisines, shopping centres and outdoor areas.

Lovely city which is definitely underestimated! Great vibes, very friendly people, tons of restaurant to try out. Definitely would recommend finding a housing in City Center, Brindley place or Jewelry Quarter, that allows you to experience city to the fullest!

There's plenty of good places in a Birmingham for a fun night out! Some of my places include the digbeth dining club and brindley place. There's lots of shopping places around the bullring which is a 20 min bus ride away from uni.

Night life in Birmingham is pretty decent, especially during freshers week! I had a blast, free entry in to clubs, £1 drinks etc. You can't go wrong really!

Birmingham night life is very varied, Broad street is the main strip which holds the most stereotypical clubs such as Pryzm, Popwolrd and others alike. However, the best clubs in Birmingham are either in Digbeth or Snobs which is located near the bullring. The venues in digbeth offer a whole range of different nights out and are really student friendly. Shopping is great in Birmingham, the bullring is modern and large, grand central holds various shops and restaurants alongside being a really easy train station.

Birmingham is a great city if you know where to go, the city centre isn’t huge but has some really nice surburbs near by that offer wild life, parks and country style pubs. The canals offer a nice opportunity to walk, Brindleyplace being one of the best places for food, nightlife and casual daytime exploring. The bullring is the heart of shopping in Birmingham, also now with grand central being a great opportunity to shop. Digbeth holds the best night out venues, alongside vintage shops, cinemas and the O2 instsitue. I really recommend Mosley as a great area for chilled evenings, or music nights!

Personally, it’s definitely nowhere near as good as London or some other cities. Of course you have the bull ring, star city broad street etc. But after a while, these places get tiring, transport needs improvement and there’s building works everywhere. That being said, it’s not awful and you can/will have fun and there’s some hidden treasures and even just walking around exploring is decent. It’s not mega expensive either.
