Although freshers was very fun and social, I think the freshers events in 2018 were very disappointing. Many events that I booked in advance were either cancelled, moved to another venue and we were not told, or were not how they were advertised (I.e promised foam parties, beer pong, UV paint, inflatables, but had none of these when arrived!) I would just suggest read reviews about the events before hand and spend money wisely on hyped up events.

City centre options for freshers wasn't the greatest, more for those studying in Frenchay. We had to kinda find our own way around Freshers in the centre - especially if you didn't stay in UWE-based halls.

my freshers events were a waste of money but i still had a good time. meeting new people can be scary but everyone gets a false sense of confidence as were all in the same position

Some events that were pre-paid for got cancelled and refunds were not given. Definitely recommend meeting as many people as possible and try and get a range of friends from your house and course, lectures and workshops etc. Join a society or sports club to meet people with the same hobbies as you. Save up for freshers as it's expensive.

It was okay, wish there were events that were catered to more genres of music rather than the dead charts.

The university moving in experience was a pleasant one. Freshers week was a bit flat, the events weren’t as big as other universities and the student union is too small and too far away from the city centre.
