Rowing (Boat)

Leicester is great as a first club/learning to row. However the equipment may frustrate those who have previous rowed at larger clubs. Social side is really good as the biggest mixed society on campus there's always someone around you know and with weekly socials you can't get enough of each other

I started rowing in my first year and have loved almost all of it. We recently received a large grant from the university allowing us to use better facilities at the national water sports centre and to get new boats allowing us to compete further. I am the social secretary so I organise nights out (selling tickets, organising houses, responsible for everyone on nights out), tour, kit etc which is demanding for time management but it’s rewarding seeing everyone having fun on nights out and also on tour. The social side can be hard because of the amount of uni work alongside training for around 3/4 hours a day. Also due to early morning training It means I have missed a lot of nights out for peoples birthdays and other interactions which can be annoying but I wouldn’t change it as I am very fit and have got an amazing team and great friends. Having these people make it so much easier to get up on cold wet mornings and push yourself
