Good freshers fair at the beginning of the academic year. There were so much societies to join, I was overwhelmed. And of course lost of goody bags I joined the tennis and kickboxing society and so I am prepared for a also relaxed time at university. The only criticism I have is that the fair was too crowded so I couldn’t discover all the societies which were available

The events weren't the kind of events I would usually go to but the university's advertisements made them look fun and I wanted to meet new people so I went to about 3/5 of them. I was pleasantly surprised.

Freshers week at Kent begins with moving in weekendd which typically occurs over Saturday and Sunday. This weekend is full of new students moving into halls or returning students moving into private accommodations. Freshers week has lots of events such as vensday, freshers ball, and the most important being NXT. Freshers week is always packed and you need to get to events early to get in as I waited over 2 hours once to get into NXT during freshers week only to leave after being fed up from waiting that long. Overall freshers weeek is a good experience for new students as it's an opportunity to get to know campus and make lots of friends.

Easy to move into as there was lots of help, tips, tricks. Lots of events at nightclub and around campus for you to take part in. Sports teams were good at fresher fairs, easy to sign up to

moving in was a hassle as i didn't know my room had the things i had bought so i just had extra things, the events were exciting and entertaining, useful tips for new students from me would be join societies as it is an easy way to meet new people and make friends

Moving in was really well organized, there was a lot of help around and it was easy to get instructions on where to go. There were a lot of events during freshers week, sone I found really good and others not. I wish there were more events during the day because I was mostly very bored during the day, maybe I just didn't recieve information about day time events. Meeting people was quite easy at these events also because there's drinkibg involved, however I do not speak to most of the people I met during freshers. I had fun and met nice people but a whole week is too much it was really boring and monotone at the end.

Freshers week was full of daily activities, most of them were centered around alcohol and the local SU: Venue. The university does advertise drinks deals all over campus, and in essence promotes the over-consumption of alcohol. Freshers fair is full of many who turn up for the free food from the likes of dominos and Nando’s, and many societies were lacklustre and disorganised.

Team/ bonding activities in the evening before going out were not really made public and thus the turnout was rather poor. The university does advertise drinks deals all over campus, and in essence promotes the over-consumption of alcohol. Freshers fair is reasonable, with many student societies attending over the course of two days. Albeit, many turn up for the free food from the likes of dominos and Nando’s, and many societies were lacklustre and disorganised.

The move in was easy with marshals there to help you and guide you around campus however not a lot of events for all types of music during freshers For the little events that went it was quite expensive, especially compared to other uni and what they had, ie special guests

Freshers week was amazing. Freshers events were so fun and really well organised. Met loads of friends and would definitely recommend for new freshers.

Freshers week is a well marketed but poorly thought our programme. The fair is excellent as there is something for everyone and plenty of enticing freebies. However, more events and socials organised are focused around clubbing and alcohol consumption which is not productive or enjoyed by everyone - and moreover causes pressured students to give into an overpowering alcohol culture. The “K-pass” - even when bought at the early bird price - is hardly worth buying, as it encourages people to attend every on-campus night club event to make the total payment worthwhile. Yet, at that point, little time is focused on academics or on societies outside of drinking and clubbing to make your spend on the pass back. When moving into my accommodation, there was no help except from the flatmates I met on the day.

Kent goes all out for their Freshers week, trying to get students involved from the get go. There are welcome helpers on the door of each accomodation ready to help you get settled and find your room, which can be really difficult to find if you are living in places like Eliot or Rutherford! They leave you a few hours for teary goodbyes and to stick pictures of your beloved pets on your new bedroom wall, and then the epic pub crawl. I say epic, it is kind of a mess to be fair. Imagine a hoard of nervous Freshers ready to attack anyone who even half looks at them to make their first friend at University. Don't worry if you don't find your soulmates tonight, or if you meet to many people you aren't even sure about, there will be so many more opportunities and so many more people you will meet in your three years as an undergrad. In fact, the next week is packed with Venue nights, foam night being the most terrifying out of the lot - whoever thought foam inhalation was good for Freshers was not too smart. But also many things to do with your new course mates and friends during the day and not to forget the fayre, whee you will be introduced to the societies that will carry you through the toughest time of your student career. And if you are not that kind of person, you have time to explore the area with your dormmates, housemates, or random strangers you meet on campus, because everyone is in the same boat and everyone wants to make friends. My last piece of advice is: don't do anything that makes you uncomfortable, don't go anywhere with anyone without telling the people you are with, stay safe, drink plenty of water, call home if you need to, have fun and keep plenty of aspirin ready for when Freshers flu kicks in. I was a bit concerned about freshers week but I was lucky in that all of my roommates were very sociable and up for attending all the social events that the university had to offer. There was no real inductions per say so having sociable roommates made the difference.

It’s great for people who want to drink Alchol however for those who don’t drink alchol it is not very enjoyable I’d say. They should have extra activities for those. This will enable students like myself to meet more people and actually enjoy myself in that environment

Not many clubs in the area hard to get a variety of places to go on a night out. However everyone seemed really social. Just wish I could’ve had a different club since they were always packed and playing the same music

Kent university had a great team of helpers to make sure the moving in process was easy for everyone involved. The best part of freshers week by far was the social events organised by the Union and other societies, which really helped bring everyone together!

Moving in was very easy and well organised there was no delay or long waits for getting my key and unpacking. The week was packed with something to do EVERYDAY of the week. It was lovely to be able to walk around campus and go different places and see new faces.

Freshers week is average. If you have good flatmates then it is fine, but if not you are in for a loooooong week. The first week of uni is all about meeting new people and it takes a while to find your feet let alone your people. The events are the same year in year out, so once you done it first year, you definitely wouldn't be in a rush to go back second or third year.

Freshers week was the highlight of my first year of university, I got to make loads of new friends, get a feel of Canterbury and enjoy some good nights out.

Very poorly organised,very little in a way of events and events which were put on were not fun. Best part of the freshers experience were house parties and halls parties

The university offered plenty of activities both day and night, the only disappointment was the freshers ball which was over crowded and over priced. The freshers fair had plenty of societies and freebies. The university made sure there was alcoholic and non-alcoholic activities going on and there was lots of advertising for the clubs on and off campus. Moreover, there was plenty of second and third years around to help with direction and give advice. The environment created was friendly and inviting. Meeting new people was made easier with movie nights set up by the university and themed nights at the club.

Overall move in experience was very good. The university organised the whole weekend particularly well with numerous support staff available to help events move smoothly. Freshers week itself was great I would recommend going to as many events as possible and trying to step out of your comfort zone to meet new people.

It was ok, there wasn't a wide variety of events for freshers. They were all kinda the same. The move in helpers were extremely kind and helpful. There should be more events for academic schools.

Lots of help moving into halls and lots of info about events that were happening in freshers week. The events were lots of fun and there were many taster sessions for clubs and societies
