Durham University is a fantastic university. The chemistry department is brilliant. The staff are friendly, approachable and very helpful. The research carried out here is top class. Lectures are interesting and useful. The college system and range of societies is excellent. The only downside to this university- college accommodation is so ridiculously expensive. This is such a shame as it puts so many people off and makes access to this top class institution difficult for many.

I thourally enjoy studying in Durham and being in Durham University. As a sport scientist we are a small co hort which means we get a lot of guidance and personal help. It is very interesting and I can’t wait to complete my three years here. Durham city is a beautiful place and already feels like home. Overall I fully recommend Durham University and especially the sport science course!

Great facilities and pastoral care, the students create a wonderful environment to learn in and the general atmosphere is great. Wonderful location too!

love durham, the college system is cracking and means you make loads of friends and feel part of an inclusive community. everybody wears the same clothes though (there is little ethnic diversity).

I had an incredible time at Durham University. The college system is incredible because it makes making friends extremely easy as there are so many people to meet. I lived in University College in my first year and the fully catered system makes it so easy to make friends. Not only that, but the Castle itself is really amazing and Durham is a beautiful city which is lively and full of students. There are societies for everyone and it's possible to get involved in College or the wider University. The career services found in the Palatine centre are also really useful. I really enjoyed my three years at Durham and cannot recommend it enough.

Great Student Union for watching sport and societies. Sports facilities extremely good. Library did not have much space - could be improved.

Over my two and a bit years at Durham, I have had a simply unforgettable time. I have loved my course, made lifelong friends and done things I would have never attempted before. The course has been intellectually stimulating, but on the whole manageable. The collegiate system has made my university experience; I firmly believe I have gained the most from this rather than being a member of the university as a whole.

The campus is all very modern and up to date, they also have a strong green ethos at the university making the campus even more appealing. My course is BA Geography, the course is very well taught from some of the top geographers in the UK, the only downside is the low contact hours. There is not much presence of a student union in Durham, this is due to the collegiate system in place, with societies, welfare and formals being conducted through your individual college. The careers centre is very helpful and there are always many careers talks on from external bodies from an array of career paths. Overall I have found Durham to be an excellent university, with an extremely high teaching level, modern and up to day educational and sporting facilities as well as a very inclusive and supportive college system.

The career services at Durham is a good and effective one. Since I started my Masters here we have had various career fairs for different departments in the university which had given all of us a chance at getting good jobs.My course has been hectic as well but they have provided us with enough support.

One of the things I love about Durham is the colleges system. As an International student coming from another university in Europe, I've never met so many people thanks to this system. The city is gorgeous, tiny but beautiful. And with so many cities around it.

The careers services are great - lots of information easily available and more at request. The staff are friendly, helpful, and speedy in their email replies. They have helped me with presentations, dedicating their time and giving feedback, and also helped me prepare for interviews.

The university is certainly welcoming to students from a variety of backgrounds, with the college system aiding the students to participate in a range of activities aside from those purely associated with their degree course.

Absolutely brilliant course in archaeology, especially with the history of the city setting such a brilliant back drop! Student Union keeps with the fashion of Durham and doesn’t lose its ancient feel!

Durham is the perfect place to study in. The town is small; the streets are filled with quaint little shops. The majority of the university buildings are about a 20 minute walk from the town centre. Most of the accommodation is also pretty central. If not you can get a bus. I'd thoroughly reccomend Durham to anyone with a love of old England!

Overall amazing experience, night life is what you make of it! The collegiate system is a great way to get involved in sports or societies even if you aren’t any good at them or would like to try them for the first time. Support is given from the university during time at uni and even as a graduate

Lovely city and easy to get to everywhere in walking distance with Newcastle only a short trip away on the train too. The student union is a bit ugly but does the job as there are college facilities that make up for it. Overall experience is very good.

Theology course is amazing. Facilities are also really great and I really appreciate all the staffs help settling in.

The campus is clean and easily accessible, taking a maximum of 20 to 25 minutes to walk to any give site. I do Earth Sciences, and the lectures are well organised, and the content taught is intellectually stimulating. The student union doesn't look the nicest, but the location is perfect, being 15 minutes from any college.

Great community feel, historic surroundings and too many opportunities to count. The college system provides a homely feel from day 1, and the systems in place to support students are second to none. While the students union may not be the most vibrant institution, the colleges more than make up for it in providing socials, nights out and simply organising events for people with common interests to meet.

Campus was excluded from activities however the course was well taught and executed. The students union didn’t organise much for Business School as it is excluded from the main campus which was a drawback. Overall experience was great, people are friendly and great to get along with
