The University of Birmingham

Very picturesque campus, a lot of the buildings have intersting architecture which makes you feel like you are learning in a well established environment. The students union is very well organized as the societies actually run regular events. The drama societies in particular are successful as they have to pitch the play they are proposing to the commitee and then they best one gets the go ahead to produce it.

Birmingham is a great university for careers options, and for good quality teaching on a wide range of courses. It has everything to offer as a campus university, and is in a great city with lots to do and lots of opportunities.

Amazing university, campus is lovely. With a large green space and a study space everywhere you go, don't need to go to the library everytime you want to study. There's also a fresh fruit and veg market called the farmers market which is a great place to stop by on your way to a lecture to grab a piece of fruit. Loads of shops on campus to go to for lunch, never run out options. However, with a 10 minute walk you can go to Bristol road which has a greater variety of food. The student union is excellent with weekly events and socials to get people to come and meet new people and enjoy different activities every week. Through the careers network you can always book an appointment to get experience with interviews, job applications or could even just go to talk to someone about your future plans and to get some advice. In addition to this, every now and then career fairs are held on campus which allow you to meet staff from different companies who will give you information about the different roles present at the company and how to increase your chance of a successful application.

Organisation left much to be desired, many courses had little structure, student selly area a hotspot for crime, and a waste of money on the “green heart”. However, student life fab, people super fab, sport clubs fab, Birmingham city (most of it) fab, support from lecturers fab, Fab fab. Loved it

The university offers great personal contact especially for such a large one. Staff are great and the student atmosphere is always amazing.

Birmingham is a really great university in that it's very diverse and it's great to be around people of different culture. The facilities on offer are really great and useful.

Well, just where to start with this university? The greatest development, certainly during my three-year tenure, has been the arrival of the Green Heart. This new, natural, pulsating landscape in place of the now-destroyed Old Library has really breathed new life on to campus, or pumped more blood through it, as it is a Green Heart. People are happier now, you walk through campus and you see students smiling: oh look, there’s a history undergraduate eating an ice cream and smiling; and over there, a student of fashion taking a selfie and smiling. Everyone has cheered up a lot, and I put this down to the instalment of this magnificent, beating green organ.

Lovely looking university but an overpaid chancellor and underpaid staff whilst many services are underfunded takes the biscuit.

I love this University because the campus is very big!! Especially the green heart part where everybody can just lay down on the grass and relax when the sun comes out. Another thing I love is the library, with lots of floors all the students are able to get their own space to do their students

I couldn’t have asked to spend my 3 years of university at a better, more inclusive, more friendly and welcoming place! For one, the campus is beautiful and you’ll never tire of being there. Also for me, my course leaders and tutors have been extremely helpful, friendly and supportive and make the lectures and seminars dynamic and interesting.

Lovely campus, the new green heart is especially lovely! Great addition to the university. Lots of amazing facilities from lecture buildings, study spaces and a new sports centre. There are so many societies with lots of variety. Overall, my experience has been great and would recommend to anyone!

The campus overall is beautiful, with the green heart at it's centre with Old Joe. There is a clever mix of both red brick buildings, which adds to the university's character and also modern architecture, such as the new library building and the learning centre currently being constructed. As a 1st year student, the guild of students has been active since freshers week, with events showcasing work experience opportunities, part time jobs and many other important extra curricular activities. As a law student, the support has been great as we were allocated 3rd year mentors from freshers week, who have been supportive throughout the year, offering advice and support. Moreover the teaching staff have been fantastic in both lectures and seminars.

The campus is absolutely beautiful and far enough away from Birmingham centre to feel like a safe haven whilst being close enough to go to town for shopping/ nights out etc.

The University of Birmingham is located on a beautiful campus with the Old Joe clock and the Aston Webb building in the centre of the campus. The halls of residence are also located in a beautiful area, especially the Vale which is built around a large lake. Furthermore, the new sports centre (University of Birmingham Sport & Fitness) has great facilities including, great fitness classes and the swimming pool. The medical school also has fantastic facilities with a large availability of computers and free printing. The night life is also great fun, with a wide variety of nights out, from the student union Fab to disco and techno nights.

I have really enjoyed my time at this university. The facilities are amazing, with contiunous upgrades being made to campus. The new library is really useful, and the availability of workspace is quite impressive all over campus. I really like the overall atmosphere of the old buildings mixed with the new. People are mostly friendly and there are always lots of activities going on.

Overall I’ve loved my time at Birmingham, facilities especially sports ones have been great, easy access to hockey and football Astro’s etc, the campus looks great, they’ve just opened the new “green heart”, great library, good on campus food outlets. My course has also been great, good lecturers and tutors and versatile - easy to pick and choose which topics appeal to me. Don’t have too many hours in class which suits me because I prefer studying in my own time, but when I am in lecturers and seminars they’re are focused and to the point. There’s lots of access to career support and essay guidance as well

Lovely campus with plenty of life. State of the art buildings completed with some of the finish professors and doctors in their profession

An excellent university to study at with an outstanding reputation. Currently doing a Masters here and I cannot find a fault in the facilities and the beautiful grounds of lovely Edgbaston. Professors are the top in their fields, knowledgeable and helpful. Only issue I have found would be with organisation, you are not given much if any information before your course starts, you have to find things out for yourself, when and where classes are and have to learn to navigate the various and confusing online platforms to access information, emails, work for modules etc.

The university campus is lovely, and very well designed, there could be more study space however and the library is often full up and hard to find a space.

In my 5th year as a student here and can not fault how great this place has been, from learning new things every day, to the people I’ve met and the facilities on offer.

I greatly enjoy my entire experience at university of Birmingham, being now In my second year there. The care for students is great, as in first year there was a vast variety of guild events that involved students and encourage social activity between students. Further, the array of society’s and the welcoming nature of these helps the experience at the uni. Alternatively, the availability of resources for studying are great, and seminar teachers and lecturers are attentive to students and cover courses well. However, the only issue currently is the lack of study space on campus as the library study seats are always full, along with many other study areas so it can be hard to find a space to study especially in exam periods it becomes near impossible. However, I know that there are new buildings going up to accommodate this.

The university is good as a whole, good facilities and lots of investment in the uni, but the lecturers on my course (econ) often seem more involved in writing their papers than teaching students
