Without a doubt, FFC was one of the best aspects of my university career. I have nothing but good memories of it and would recommend every student with an interest in dance to participate. The society has access to a dance studio, Signature Dance Studios, where they hold auditions, team rehearsal/class and open class. This is located a mere 5-10 minutes away from the city campus and is easily accessible. They also have access to another open space in town where they go to freestyle and hone their skills once a week. If you are dedicated, you will definitely leave a better dancer, in terms of technique, ability, movement memory & most importantly confidence. The committee is also very active on social media and group chats are formed often once the teams have been put together so it is very easy to stay informed and also to ask questions. The level of organisation is second to none. In my experience, they were great with timetabling the classes, organising transport to competitions andmaking sure music and routines were always ready. I can’t think of anything I enjoyed more at uni to be honest. When the work was stressful I knew I had a rehearsal (although gruelling) to look forward to and the energy when the dancers get together is great. It really is like a little family. FFC is amazing in terms of social activities. As you continue through the year, friendships develop and the multiple opportunities to meet up become amazing times to laugh, learn and become better dancers. There are a few meals throughout the year too! It has to be noted; there isn’t a party like a FFC party! We take over the dance floor or the stage and have a great time together! The committee are also dance with the different teams so they’re always understand what the members go through. They are very accessible and are always around to help. The different roles within the committee all work so well together which is most evident in the success of events they put on throughout the year. It’s so cheap to join for everything you’re getting in terms of experience and enjoyment.
