Walsall Campus

Located between Wolverhampton and Birmingham, great for shopping and nights out. Not much to do in Walsall area. On-site student shop that caters primarily for those who live on campus, useful but doesn't sell things like milk and bread. Most sociable area is student village as Gorway is on the opposite end of campus, parties and events tend to be situated near the student village as the Student Union is right on the side. Rooms are nicely sized, unless you have a lot of stuff with you. Laundry faculties are really close but may sometimes be chaotic as there's only around 7 washers and 7 dryers.

For how much I paid, £103 weekly, this accommodation was horrifying. Yes was en suite and it was at the campus I studied making it convenient but those were the only good points. The bed was smaller than a single, the room was fairly small - that didn't bother me too much tbf, the shower head was a stupidly small little nozzle at the top corner of a tiny walk in shower which either gave no spray at all or too much - it was attached to the wall so you couldn't really wash a specific part of you body if you wanted to. The bathroom itself was tiny, the toilet, shower and sink were all within 2 feet of each other. The heating there was terrible - they say it was run on a thermostat but it was almost definitely on a timer because the heating was never on and this year my friends still living there have all bought space heaters to deal with the cold. THe Internet wasn't too bad, occasionally it was really slow and others it was pretty decent, they did change providers halfway through the year which played up quite a bit for a while but that settled out. Then there's the kitchen/living space, in all fairness the kitchen was a decent size and there were 2 cookers .However, we were told that we would be sharing with 4-5 other people but in fact we shared with 6 or 7 others, despite how many people in the flat the fridge and freezer space was only for 4-5 people. In terms of social it was quite good for me personally because my flatmates and I would always chill out in the kitchen, there weren't enough chairs in front of the TV for us all but there were some stools at the counter which some of us sat on instead Overall I definitely would not recommend.

the rooms are fairly small, the plumbing system isn't the best as we had about 4 problems in our flat of 7 with either the sinks or the showers. Toilets were absolutely fine. My shower and my friends shower got blocked, my sink got blocked, the kitchen sink stopped working and there was other problems with flat mate's facilities also. The location towards the university was great, in general it was okay, campus bus was a big help.

A mess everywhere, no working heater, paper thin walls and windows so all the cold gets in. The dorm mates didn't respect the fact I had to work nights sometimes, which resulted in them being loud and noisy every day, I couldn't sleep and turning up for work exhausted.

The student village in Walsall campus is great. The room aren’t too small they’re the perfect size for 1 person and two if you have a friend over. Having your own toilet is a game changer being able to walk comfortably from your shower to your room is a big plus side for me. The showers are small but you can work with it and having your own space to decorate and be in charge of is a great feeling. The kitchens are also a nice size and comfortable for the amount of people living in them. This halls is very close to the sh which offers great social meetings like karaoke and games nights where you can dunk with friends and not be far from where you’re staying. If anything goes wrong then you’re able to get it fixed very quickly by the people on site or accommodation services. Security is never far so the feeling of safety is very apparent with the amount of patrols the security do. They’re not over packed and have a social circle where everyone can hang out and have bqqs or parties during the summer which is lovely.

Location is good (right on campus), noise levels aren’t the best. Beds are so small. Shower cubicle could be larger and the controls for the shower could be more practical. WiFi can be a bit hit and miss.

Perfect location as it is close to where lectures take place, halls themselves are nice but slightly outdated, they're quite expensive for what they are, I enjoy living in halls to get the university experience, wouldn't move else where due to the fact it's a very welcoming place and comfortable too

-location very close to lectures and activities -not a lot of SU events, SU closes at 4pm and no local shop or pub for about a mile -Water isn’t clean but labelled as ‘drinking’ water -Maintenance are slow to look at leaks/serious reports -No enforc

Rooms are as expected with a bed, desk and shower. Although, the shower is more of a dribble and the heat could be improved. The size of the rooms are bigger than expected. The kitchens are good, however there was a significant period of time waiting to get a leaking fridge replaced leaving food to be wasted. On site facilities are good with a gym, pool and student union. However, I'm more after a shop such as a Spar or Co-op. On top of this, there isn't a whole lot to do other than the odd game off pool which is shared across the entire campus.

Campus is pretty small and so it is like having your own little community, which is especially great in first year! (Most of) security are really helpful - don’t mind if you’re up in the middle of the night and need to be let in your room cos you lost/forgot your key! The gym on campus is also quite small but doesn’t get too busy and the fact you get it for free is bonus! Only problem is that they do try and take you for a ride once you’ve left - so just be extra vigilant when you fill out the itinerary form!! Write down everything even if you don’t think it’ll be an issue because they will charge for it.

Very basic, but also cheap so worth while. Living area needs new carpet and seats, very old and worn. Everywhere needs a lick of paint, very dirty and scratched. Beds are smaller than a regular single, hard for tall people! Showers are disgusting and the exatractor fan leaks dust everywhere.

Only benefit is the location. Accommodation services are appalling and a bunch of hypocrites. Don’t care about the students. Flats are not taken care of over the summer so things like cleaning the shower heads or extractor fans or replacing the internet are done while we’re here (and I don’t consider the 5 people living there during summer to be a reason you can’t do jobs then). Cleaners are rude and picky, and fail us is we have one thing in the bin and haven’t taken it out. Prices have gone up since last year because of ‘renovations’ but I don’t call new flooring, some plaster and a lick of paint a full renovation. Same defunct TVs, same old ovens, broken fridges, none of which get replaced promptly when reported.

Great rooms, and a minute walk to the campus - which is helpful! Could have better clothes washing facilities!
