Lucia Foster Welch

Lucia Foster was really basic, cheap furnishings and the oven broke a lot. The fire alarm went off in my block at least once a week in the middle of the night meaning everyone had to evacuate in pyjamas! The showers and toilets were shared but that wasn't an issue in my flat. We lived in a flat of 10 people and it was really social. Lucia has about 7 blocks of flats so there's a lot of people and you're always making friends with other flats. The majority of floors in block knew each other and had parties and ore drinks together. Probably the best year of my life! The accommodation is about a 20 minute walk from uni. There's a Tesco express near by and it is close to a really pretty harbour!

Location is a little far from uni but they all are. The staff are always willing to deal with a problem and the halls itself are fine for the price.

Very nice area as well as very helpful and friendly staff. About 20 minutes walk from the university and town centre

Had such a bad experience at Lucia, I tried to speak up about all the problems but nothing was ever done

Sociable living space, loads of people. Value for money. It is furthest from main campus so its a bit of a walk to get to uni

The location of this halls is good as it's not too far away from al the necessary ammenaties and it's a short walk to either of the ssu campuses. The facilities there are also easily accessible and are often not that busy, however they are available to book if you need peace of mind that you can use them.

If your looking for the most socialable and fun halls, go to Lucia. In the weeks of freshers, all the flats are open and you have the chance to put yourself out there and make friends. Because of this, the halls get extremely messy however, the cleaners are great and by the time you wake up the flat is back to normal. Only downside is the fines you receive because of the mess.

The facilities were great, as was the social experience. A double bed would've made life a little bit better

The rooms and the facilities are utilitarian. It's a very 'no-frills' place generally. However, even though it doesn't look like much the rooms are quite spacious and the facilities are good. The kitchens can easily fit two or three flats worth's of people into them. It's near a train track, so if you're in Erikson House you might get woken up by the freight trains going by sometimes. I'd give it five stars, but my social experience wasn't great.

The location of Lucia is quite a distance from town. Facilities are very poor and staff on site are quite abrupt and rude. There are some shops and restaurants nearby, however all decent shops are in the city centre around 30 minute walk away.

Clean And well kept. Heating didn’t work in my room And the lift was always broken. Living standards were very basic. Good amount of showers for people to use in the flat.

I had a brilliant experience at Lucia Foster, made lots of friends and had a great time. The facilities, however, are not great. We never had hot water, our bathroom flooded and it was either boiling or freezing. Worth it for the overall experience though.

Good location with Tesco Express a 5 minute walk and Uni only being a 15 minute walk away. The social experience is lacking, you only really know the people in the same flat and if anybody is doing the same course as you. The cleaning crew are amazingly friendly so that's always a plus in the mornings

Location is not incredible, but I am in one of 8 building blocks so it really just depends where your flat is. I am on the 6th floor next to the bridge so having my window open to cool the room but suffering the noise of traffic is a sacrifice I have to make The cleaners at LFW are wonderful, hoovering and cleaning communal spaces every weekday, something I'm going to miss when I move out of halls Security and reception seem like super lovely faculties, mail is handled excellently and is frequently updated. There's always someone about in reception 24/7 which gives such a comforting feeling

The overall look of LFW is very clean, big and welcoming. The room sizes are what you would expect of halls and includes 2 small wardrobes a set of draws a desk and desk chair and a single bed. There's up to 20 people per floor split into 2 sections, so 10 in flat A and 10 in flat B. For every flat there's 3 shared showers and 2 toilets, although every individual room has it's own sink and mirror to brush your teeth. The team that rum LFW are extremely professional and strive to make sure everything is how it should be. As soon as a problem arises if you tell reception they will sort it as quickly as they can.

Incredibly average, nothing special tbh. Always cold. Very good for parties though, one of the top party halls I've been to

Really social as LFW is the biggest halls for Solent, pretty basic but has everything you need and is a really good introduction to uni life and living away from home, it's the furthest from uni though but still only about a 15 minute walk to campus

Nothing in the kitchen worked properly No ventilation in the bathrooms Showers had only one temperature and the floor was all tiles so when you need to pee after someone showers, you get wet feet Rooms have horrid carpet and it feels like a primary school classroom. Was rather all low class and run down for how expensive it was (did I mention communal?) Go to a private dorm.

The location is not great, it is much further away than any other residences and takes ages to go anywhere. The social experience is less than ideal in terms of knowing people outside of this residence as it takes so long to get anywhere and is unsafe at night. My room is ok but have an uncomfortable mattress and do not have enough storage. The showers are not cleaned properly everyday so feels unsanitary and there is some mildew spots.

For the money I pay monthly it's really bad, the lift is broken more often than not. The only good thing it's the WiFi.

Standard size room, very small, where as the end rooms are more reasonable sized. The kitchens don’t have nearly enough space for food and we have to share a whole fridge for 10 people. There is some security issues but other wise not a massive tip.

It's about half an hour walk from the old campus building and twenty minutes from the new one. It's about a twenty minute walk from the high street, which has pretty much everything that you could need. The halls themselves are nice. They look utilitarian but the rooms are spacious and the kitchen and bathroom facilities are good. If something breaks the maintenance team sorts it out quickly and efficiently. The reception staff are friendly too. There's always a party going on in at least one flat on any given night, so if that's your thing you can probably find someone to party with.

These University halls are reasonably good, never really have any problems at all. Occasionally, there will be a problem with WiFi connection or something not working in the kitchen but overall it’s pretty good

It’s so good! Party halls( stay in Erikson house) Only down side is the bluddy showers as they are on a timer! But they are so warm that they are okay! Hopefully you get blessed with a good flat cos I have a really good flat
