Definitely great for student experience. The city itself is extremely industrial, and as such not particularly cosmetically brilliant. If you want to see old architecture and red brick everywhere, you're probably better off somewhere else. Having said that, there's loads of development happening at the moment, with lots of modern apartments and smaller cafes in renovated warehouses or factories. The huge advantage is that loving costs are very low in comparison to other places. There's a huge amount of places to go out, for any budget. I have friends in London and I pay half the rent they do and still have my own bathroom and a living room to boot.

The overall vibe in Sheffield has less of an up beat and friendly feeling in comparison to Manchester and Leeds, with shopping also being very limited in the stores they offer . Although the value for money and student discounts are available everywhere with also an outstanding range of takeaways and restaurants in the area.

Damn sheffield is great I mean wow I could have never imagined how great sheffield is. Also as much as I think sheffield is great I think free skin condoms is even greater!!

Good variety of nights out everyday. Close to the countryside. Good public transport. A bit small. Overall there is something to do for everyone as you could travel to further parts of the city easily and cheaply with trams/buses and experience stuff on the outskirts. The town centre is a bit small and the shop selection is alright, not great but the moor market is becoming a lot better.

Good night out cheap drinks, not that many places to shop in town. But Meadowhall is great. It's good if you like the to be in a small city and there's lots of greenery around, especially at the peaks

The night life is amazing with such variety and affordable venues. Food is also great as there’s many options, including fast foods and restaurants.

Decent food, shopping and night outs Small but cozy city with lots of opportunities for students. Buses and supertram makes it easy to get round the city. Good place to visit other places close by such as the peak district

There are bars around here, pop tarts and clubbing events are often held too. There’s a big shopping mall not far away which has often have sales.

Sheffield is a city built for the people who live here. It has everything you could need. It has a big array of restaurants and an even bigger range of fantastic independent coffee shops. The city centre is a bit small for a city as gig as sheffield but it is filled with great shops and vintage stores.

Great place, good atmosphere and good night life. Met lots of friendly people with similar interests. Good range of things to do and places to eat, and very close to lots of nice other major cities like Leeds and Manchester.

Not many good clubs, around 2 days a week are popular. Transport is good, 40 mins by tram to mead hall for shopping and good restaurants. City centre has many food places and outdoor shopping has well.

Nothing beats Roar but a Friday night bar crawl or Saturday at pop-tarts or leadmill comes close. West Street live has the best variety of drinks and tigerworks offers a good place to start drinking - always get the five pound round (Monday to Thursday)

Great nights out particularly at the student union, cheap nearly everywhere in the city. Meadowhall is a tram ride away for easy shopping

Good night out especially places around west street. Bars and clubs can be limited however as it is quite small compared to what I am used to. Spent three years here and am Beginning to get bored.

Sheffield is a great city for students. The uni is right in the city centre, which is full of nice lunch spots, bars and clubs. Every night theres people around having loads of fun, it never gets boring.

It’s a nice city and recommend to other students. I came here more for the uni than the city, but even the city is good. A thing that I like here is that the people are very nice.

There’s a good number of places to do your shopping as well as many food places, not just in town but also closer to the student accommodation. The people are super friendly and nights out are cheap!

Top clubs, top drinks top girls. Places to go, plug if your 18 or under and want people to grope you, code if the same safe night outs your thing , area but a bit risky at the moment with all the knife sprees, tank if md is your central and you like to wear your chin on the other side of some random birds face. Hallam nation is where it’s at if you like sports and act like a cunt. Any take away open after 11 is well over riced and comes with a Hygiene warning and a side of questionable health and safety reports just meeting the passable grade.

Sheffield has a plentiful supply of pubs and bars to eat and drink in, catering for all moods and occasions. However certain parts of the city are best for certain styles of venue

Amazing food on Division Street and Ecclesall Road, great nights out at the Sheffield SU, along West Street and elsewhere! Very close to Meadowhall which has a huge variety of shopping options.
