There is so much to do here , we have 2 shopping malls and a city centre full of shops , the night life is banging and has very cheap drinks , the prime student clubs are Corp or code. There is a restaurant for everyone.

Sheffield is a very friendly city and I feel safe in general when walking around. Everything is very central and easy to get to, although some clubs are a good 30 mins walk across the city, however it's always busy at night so everywhere feels safe. Beautiful cathedral, many gardens and interesting architecture as well.

Sheffield is a great city with loads of things to do and see. There's a huge choice for eating out so everyone can find somewhere they love. Same with nights out, many clubs for anymood. Also if you manage to experience everything Sheffield has to offer then just hop on a train to the Peak District!

For shopping, Sheffield is perfect; it's home to Meadowhall, which puts on a student night every once in a while and is WELL worth going to for savings! Food wise, there's lots to eat in the city centre, and party life isn't too lacking either! There's always someone on at the Arena or the O2 so you'll never be bored, and with the Lyceum and Theatre Library you can see all sorts of interesting things!

In my opinion, overall, Sheffield is a great city for university students. In terms of nightlife, the best place I would recommend is Carver Street. There they have nightclubs like Crystal bar, Paris and Pop world. For any freshers, I would also recommend buying tickets for the 'carver street block party' as it usually ends up being a good night out. Just bear in mind that the clubs normally ends up being rammed with people during freshers, so if a low-key night out is what you like, this event probably won't be for you. As far as 'Things to do' goes, there's obviously Meadowhall, which is probably the most popular destination for food and shopping. I'd recommend taking the train or tram from the city centre for a cheap ticket to get there. The tram also stops at a place called 'Valley Centertainment', which is basically leisure and entertainment complex that has places to eat, bowling, a cinema and mini golf. For general everyday shopping, there's the city centre and The Moor. The Moor also has a market, which sells anything from fruit and veg to African hair products, which has definitely proven beneficial to me. My only critique of Sheffield as a uni student would be that it was a bit difficult for me to get my bearings around the transport side of things i.e. buses, but then again- I guess that's what Uber is for.

Sheffield is a really nice place to go to university. I am at Hallam and really enjoy the course I am doing. There are trams, buses, Ubers and taxis etc so its really easy to get around and yeah... would recommend to people 100%.

The university is in a great location. Central to Sheffield City Centre if you are based at the main campus and just off of Eccy Road (one is the biggest, most student based roads in Sheffield) if at collegiate. Sheffield is a very student orientated city with plenty places of interest and many cool bars and resteraunts to add to your to do list whilst here!

Very good night life, and great for food and shopping, uni/ college are in great locations, very central to everything in Sheffield, easy to access everything you would need. Also very good public transport, trams are regular and on time, there are always loads of things to do and events happening in the city centre, and it is great value for money.

I’ve had to pick Sheffield as the town I actually live in is not on here :(. But Sheffield is a decent place and has a good nightlife but tends to be quite expensive which is what you expect from a city. It is quite young a city as there are a lot of students around from the 2 universities. Some great places to eat like cosmos which is an all you can eat buffet and it is soooo good!

Sheffield is the perfect location to study. Everything is right on your doorstep that could possibly need. Moor market has just been updated with a cinema, eating places and a huge Primark. Meadowhall shopping centre is just a few minutes on the train at less than £3 for a return too. There are loads of nightclubs and every night there is somewhere to go with drinks costing from £1. Sheffield is also just a really nice looking city with lots of green spaces to sit in the sunshine. I honestly can't think of anything it's missing!

Sheffield is an amazing place. The perfect mix of nature and the city. There are loads of bars, clubs for the night and then there are loads of parks and shops and things to go to during the day as well as pubs to go for lunch. Smoke BBQ and cosmos are great restaurants in the city centre. The transport is so good as well as it is a short tram ride to get to Meadowhall. It also only costs £4 for a day tram ride all over Sheffield.

Sheffield offers great nights out, in the form of SU nights at University of Sheffield, the Harley, and the infamous Beirkeller. An evening out for great food would be peddlers markets, a monthly occurrence of great local food stalls and live music in and edgy warehouse setting. Sheffield also has lots to offer in the outdoor department with the peaks on its doorstep and it being well know for it rock climbing both inside and out.

Sheffield is a good city to study in as it’s not too big, but also not too small. As an environmental student it is ideal as it is close to the Peak District National Park and there are lots of green spaces within the city. The central shopping area is a little bit mismatched and has bits everywhere, but the distribution and areas where the bars are located are good. Sheffield has good entertainment venues like the light cinema and the leadmill. I recently completed an escape room in Sheffield which is good fun too and recommended. I recommend Sheffield for anyone moving from a town to university.

Sheffield has really good travel connections to London, Leeds and Manchester! And it’s super easy to get out to the peaks for a nice walk and Sunday lunch. It’s such a vibrant student city!!

Sheffield Hallam has 2 campuses, one which is in the city and perfect location close to the city centre, shops and restaurants, however the collegiat campue is around a 30 minute walk from the city campus, and apart from some cafe’s and restaurants, there isnt much else around the campus.

Decent enough value. Plenty of Spoons. Nights out are fairly decent and not too expensive. Plenty shops nearby but it's a bit hilly

Nights out: Lots of really nice cocktail bars and pubs but not a wide selection of clubs, most places are close together which is really ideal and there are really nice takeaways for the end of the night Food: Many nice restaurants across the city, lots of different styles but some can be quite hard to get to. Also lots of cheaper food markets and small cafes Shopping: Shops in the city centre are limited but Meadowhall has every shop you would need In general, good value for money. Many places offer a variety of discounts and student deals The city centre is mainly a nice place but there’s a few homeless people

Lovely location and close to other major UK cities. It is an easier transition into a city if you have lived in a small village or town growing up. Lots of green spaces and the peaks are at your doorstep. Nightlife provides something for everyone, from pop clubs to underground music venues. Sheffield is also home to an endless array of bars and pubs, also suited to all tastes. It is a student city that is very welcoming. There are so many independent businesses, that are thriving and working together that provide value for money goods and services.

Fun and friendly city, good nightlife to suit all tastes. Shopping in the city centre isn’t great but Meadowhall is only 20 minutes on the tram and has everything. The transport links are great for students and pretty cheap too. Loads to do as city is very close to the Peak District so lots of nice walking and climbing to do. Plus Sheffield is the greenest city in the UK! Lots of parks to chill out in.

Perfectly located in the city, surrounded by bars, clubs and parks and only a short walk into the city centre where it’s possible to connect to many of the other great cities in the area

Sheffield is great city with lots to do and a lot of activities directed at the students who live here. From the many pub crawls, bars and nightclubs to the sports facilities and Peak District a short drive or bus ride away. The locals are friendly and the city is very comfortable compact meaning you’re never too far away from anything. The shops in he city centre are good and there are loads more at Meadowhall which is easy and cheap to get to.

There are great places to shop and eat. Its a small city with good transport links within and to other locations.

There are lots of restaurants at affordable prices. I don’t really like the bus system especially coming from London where it doesn’t take 5 minutes to issue tickets on the bus.
