When I first went to Sheffield, I found that the city was quite hilly. However, I have gotten used to that now! I really enjoy going to the Peak District and getting to know new people - it is amazing.

Sheffield has a great day and night life. There’s a range of bars, clubs and restaurants to fit your taste, however, there’s also a million and one fun days things to do too. We have jump inc, the Peak District on our doorstep, game board cafes, and much much more. Not to mention the huge shopping centre, Meadowhall. Not only is our city green, historical and cultural but it has something to offer everyone - even without having to spend a penny.

As a student studying and living in Sheffield, you can often feel like a speck in the huge population of the city that are students themselves. On the other hand, in and around campus, you will see familiar faces everywhere, as the main university itself is incredibly compact. This is good because it means most places you need/want to go are within walking distance, and if not, regular public transport such as the tram and bus are very efficient. In recent years, Sheffield has been inundated by small local businesses starting from the roots up, such as cafes, organic grocers and bakeries. It promotes a feeling of community with every business supporting each other and providing great services to the people of Sheffield. International cuisine is also coming into the fore, especially with the development of places like Cutlery Works and Kommune Food Hall. Meadowhall shopping centre is a 15 minute tram away from the centre and has a plethora of huge shops and activities, such as Valley Centertainment just a bit further down.

It's easy to get from one place to another and you can choose between taxi, bus, tram and train. However, the bus is not always on time and if you stay until later you might wait for it a long time. There are many nice places where you can eat and you'll always find something new to try

Sheffield has lots of hidden gems like Ecclesall Road which has loads of cool independent restaurants on and has a pending Mowgli. Lucky Fox restaurant is the best... so tasty! Also you are very near to the peaks which is good to get out to the countryside.

Absolutely love Sheffield!! One of the best student cities in the UK for sure. The nights out are cheap, there is a wide a range of shopping outlets across the city, not forgetting Meadowhall just up the road! There are plenty of things to do too, with the Peak District half an hour away by bus!

Loads of shopping available, not far from Meadowhall. Plenty of places to go and eat out at. There's college's, universities, easy travel access.

Great night out in Tank or Corporation. The nightlife is vibrant and always full of fun. No need to worry about going out and not being able to get that pizza, nuggets or burger you were dreaming about as there’s plenty of nice takeaways around. Sheffield has about all the shops you need, if not, pop on the short train ride to Meadowhall and make a day of it!

Sheffield is sometimes a very good night out, but it definitely depends on the time and place! Personally I love pubs and bars and prefer them over clubs, so kelham island is my favourite place to drink! Sheffield overall however is good value for money, and there are lots of things to do!

Love going to the cinema but the prices are quite high for a student. I also enjoy eating out but again this can be very pricy especially for two when you like desert, main and starter

Sheffield is a great city, I moved here from Nottingham to go to sheffiel hallam university. I haven’t looked back since. The best thing about sheffield in my eyes is the night life, it’s great. There are plenty of bars and clubs to try and plenty of food places also, this results in plenty of fun drink filled evenings. Additionally there are two championship sided football clubs, this is great if you like football as there is always matches to go and watch. This is entertaining even if you don’t support the sides.

Sheffield as a city feels as though it has been designed with students in mind. Everything is in walking distance and there is never a dull day with the different things you can do. There are lots of different places to go for nights out and is all very affordable.

Sheffield has plenty going for it. There's lots to do for a variety of ages. With Meadow Hall being near by any shops you can't find are a tram ride away. There's plenty of restraunts to suit the tastes of everyone and many quirky coffee shops to meet with friend or revise in. The university is conveniently places near the town centre. While nights out aren't my thing friends have said there seems to be a good range of clubs and events to get evolved in! Overall, Sheffield may enitially appear abit grey overall it is a fab city.

I think Sheffield is a great place for studying, it doesn't get too hectic, crowded but it does have everything that a city has. It's more like a huge village, people mostly are friendly to you unless when they got drunk. It's quite queit as well sometimes even in city centre. There several places that you can go and chill out, the main thing is Sheffield is surrounded by greeneries, if you are a person who really like nature, thia city definitely will suit you as it has lots of greeneries and the famous peak district is just nearby the city! Overall, it's a good city for studying.

Sheffield is the ultimate student experience! It's got the best (and cheapest) nights out, many restaurants and loads of bars! The city itself has great green open spaces and has got a friendly and welcoming feel to it, whilst also being a big city. One of the best things about the city is that it's only a short bus ride or drive from the beautiful peak district - perfect for those who love the great outdoors!

I love Sheffield because there’s something for everyone. If you’re a a city girl eccy road is perfect for drinks, but if you prefer the country you’re a stone’s throw from the peak district - it’s perfect!

Sheffield is one of the most diverse city I've lived or visited in the UK. There are so many food options available for all sort of cuisines and to top it off there is a huge shopping mall which is 15 mins away from the center

Great for nights out and value for money. Plenty of bars and clubs! Shopping is good but very spread across the centre. Could be improved with more things to do.

Great city for students, West Street is full of bars, plenty of clubs in the city centre, and the uni of students Union hosts club nights at least 3 times a week. Good value for money in terms of living costs, good shopping opportunities in the city centre, meadowhall, and on ecclesall road.
