Crewe Hall- best standard accommodation in the uni, good facilities and really nice gardens. Loads of single sex flats but was still a lot of fun

Great halls- everybody around, Edge convenient. Long walk to university buildings and lectures though- around 40 minutes.

I lived in Crewe Hall in Endcliffe which is an older building separate from the main halls of residence. I had an older building and opted for the cheapest accomodation, and shared with 9 other mixed-sex flat mates and shared 3 bathrooms between 10 of us. Socially this was not a great place to live, because our flat was more like a terraced house with its own front door rather than sharing a floor or hall with other flats, so we didn't mingle with other Crewe students. However we had a large grassy courtyard and tennis courts, and we often had BBQs in the summer which most of Endcliffe couldn't do. The flat was really warm (sometimes too warm in summer) and the showers were good. It was located slightly closer to uni than the other halls too. Because the building was older, we had sinks in every room which made up for the fact we didn't have en suites, and the rooms were almost 3 times the size of the newer builds in Endcliffe. The wifi was superfast and there was a small library next door that not many people knew about so we didn't have to trek into uni to get a space in the main libraries. The living space was quite poor with just a table that took up most of the room and no sofas/TV. Although most halls are overpriced, I think Crewe was good value for money in comparison to the newer part of Endcliffe, although I would have paid more for a better social experience.

Fantastic accommodation only downside is the walk to uni being a little longer that nessesery and the proper shops are quite far but the shop onsite is great and most of the time had all you needed.

The edge bar is a great meet up point, there's always a social event somewhere in the student village but it does get kinda noisy of the night which is bad if you want an early one. Also, it's kinda far away from campus.

Clean and practical facilities, my room had an en suite and was all I needed it to be, good location and good for being social

Good size room with en suite and single bed. More double bed rooms being available would have been nice. Kitchen/communal area is big enough however sofas are tatty, kitchen appliances are usable most of the time, cupboard space/fridge space is doable.

A fair way out from the uni but very good social life as most students live nearby. The Edge is a fantastic facility for drinks or food. The flat itself could have been nicer decorated (anything but orange and brown!!) and the paint on the walls was chipped on arrival, otherwise the maintenance team have been very good at addressing any issues we have. The rooms are a very good size with a nice big desk and even room for my keyboard! Overall a very nice halls experience, but expensive even considering (£133 a week is a lot even for an ensuite).

The halls are a bit far from the University buildings but in a pretty location with lots of activities arranged for residents.

The location of Endcliffe has its pros and cons: it is a bit of a walk away from the city centre, especially the Moor. Although, because of the public transportation, it is relatively easy to get there, too. I personally enjoyed having to walk a bit to go to lectures. Moreover, as Endcliffe is further away from West Street and the Students' union, it is quite there. When the weather was warm, people seemed to appreciate the green area in Endcliffe, as it would be relatively full of students! Other great things about Endcliffe were the village store, a small grocery shop with every day essentials, and the edge bar, where you could watch your football team play. Furthermore, despite the size of the rooms, they felt spacious and homely and never did I have a problem with fitting all my stuff into my room. Special thanks to the storage space under the bed!

Expensive for what you get, however it is nice and there are good services on site with shops just a short walk away. The room was good and the bar 'the edge' was fairly cheap and an excellent social location with good food.

Location was handy, socially great as everyone interacted and easy to meet other flats. Room was good as the desk was big and ensuite was a comfort however definitely should have had a double bed for the money ! A shop in ranmoor would make such a difference. Cheaper prices at the ridge also and a gym on site?? On site gym would be used loads

I was in Stephenson hall whichever was out of the way of the main area of Endcliffe and was the most run down. So my room was rather shabby, but Endcliffe as a whole was a great area which was a 20 minute walk away from main campus. It was hard for us to socialise in Stephenson hall as we had no social area and a tiny kitchen due to us being catered. I felt like I slightly missed out on the first year experience in comparison to the other buildings in Endcliffe.

Endcliffe is located within a student village approximately 25 minutes away from the university. It is a fair walk to the campus and further yet to the city centre, but the seclusion and quiet of the small village is blissful. The green areas and amenities (The Edge Bar and Village Store) make the distance worthwhile. With flats of up to 10 people, it's impossible to be alone and the social scene is always booming. With society meetings on site and residence life give it a go events always taking place, there is always something to do.

Great location and amazing setting though the colour painted on the walls is the most sickly colour green and the soundproofing isn’t great

It is nice to be in the same area as all the other first years and the standard of the accommodation is excellent. It is about 20 minutes walk from the university, so well placed. There is a nice community within the villages.

Although Ranmoor has a reputation for being quieter than the larger Endcliffe accommodation, there is still definitely a community atmosphere. The flats are modern and well equipped, with en suite bathrooms with every room. The half an hour walk to the university is a bit of a downside, but there are always students streaming through Broomhill so you will find people to walk with. The loss of the Ridge bar is definitely a drawback as quiz nights and movie nights were always fun to go to with your flat. The WiFi available is eduroam which is good because friends visiting from other unis can easily connect to it.

A great social space with high quality rooms and plenty going on almost every day of the week. The bar serves great food and cheap drinks and the place just looks stunning. A truly great place to spend your first year at uni.
