Plymouth

Not much things can do at night,shops and some of the restaurants close early,but it's an affordable place to live or study,with lively cultural scene. It's a city by the sea.The hoe and barbican are great places.It's an old city by the port, with many old buildings and interesting shops. A quiet town. Plymouth is a safe city,with lower crime rates.It has a nice weather and fresher air if compared to other parts of the UK.House prices are moderate.Have a lot of relaxing environment as it has a lot of green space. Suitable to those who wants a lively life but not for those who are seeking for energetic city life.

I love Plymouth as a place to live and also to visit for shorter periods. As a very student/university centered city, most of the centre feels safe to young people and that is a lot of accomodation, food, retail, and activity options. It is an affordable place to live.

pros: A lot of consumer development going on including new mall, museum and expansion of the university. Cheap busses and lots of clubs for students with later opening times than most cities although north hill is going downhill since I started university. cons: tons of litter about for "Britain's ocean city" more than other places I go and I travel for work every weekend to new cities and also a high amount of homelessness although there are some schemes to help but not well advertised. New mall is ugly.

Nights out are varied due to lots of different types of places to go. Lots on independent food and drinks places all over the city. Also quite a few chains. Could do with better clothes shopping. food shopping wise, three aldi/lidl’s near town. Other than that sainsbury’s which can be a little bit more expensive or a tesco metro. Convenience stores are all over too, never be too far from one.

Lots of places to go for a night out where there is always something on! A range of clubs and bars dotted around so local to everyone. Loads of restaurants and cinemas so there are places to go. Very cheap so ideal for students

Plymouth is a great city by the sea! There are lots of things to do around Plymouth as well as outside the area. With lots of shops both in the centre and by the barbican it makes for a great place to spend the day. For evening dining there are lots of restaurants varying in cuisine and price.

Plymouth is lovely in the summer. Like anywhere can be drab in the winter. The Barbican is great for a night out but very expensive. Shopping is okay, could do with more shops. Transport links are good with regular busses running all through the city.

Plymouth is a small city but it’s vibrant and there are usually many events to keep you entertained. Also, there are many of the franchise restaurants here like Bella Italia, Pizza Express

Nights out are decent. There are a few places to eat mostly on the hoe or Barbican area. You can do many things and even get the ferry down to Cornwall.

Plymouth is great during the summer with plenty of beaches and the seafront to visit, the nightlife is pretty standard with only a few nightclubs but is still a fun night out! Not very diverse when it comes to shopping and restaurants but you have everything you need, great city for students as it doesn't cost loads to live here.

Such a chill place, chill people, good vibes, it's so good to be so close to the sea. There are loads of places you can go, you can get the bus or boat, there are loads of shops you can go round, good places to eat, good restaurants and good little parts of the city too

Perfectly relaxing, exciting, manic and friendly all in one big package. Stay away from the harbour if you're thinking of drinking. Don't fall in and become another statistic. Food and night life is banging 24/7, just be careful of the fish restaurants.

Plymouth is ideally situated between the coast and Dartmoor, however if you plan on visiting beaches and the moors you must be able to drive! One of the key things that bring students to Plymouth is its scenic surroundings, but public transport is very limited and undeveloped. Apart from that, the city has a lot to offer regardless of its size.

Beautiful place to view the seaside, big beautiful lit up town and shopping centre, hundreds of lovely places to eat with many night clubs!

Plymouth is a small city, with lots to see and do. From shopping in the mall, to having meals and going to the cinema and bowling. There's lots of greenery to see! Such as the hoe with the firework championships every summer. And Dartmoor is a large countryside and pretty walks to explore. There are many busses that travel out to all the places you'd like to visit

Plymouth has loads of places to eat out from sushi to pizza. There are loads of shops and as well as the necessities like easy access to public transport, Plymouth has lots of opportunities for fun such as bowling, ice skating, swimming.

I love that in Plymouth you have the mix of a city with nightlife and shops and restaurants and everything that you could need as well as having the open space feeling of living by the sea. Nothing beats sitting on the hoe next to the lighthouse on a summer day

Personally, I feel like Plymouth is a great place to be. If like me you're from a town in the middle of the countryside, you'll love how nice it is to live so close to the sea! Town centre is great and drake circus is full of shops that are reasonably priced! Although Plymouth boasts amazing sea views from the hoe, there aren't beaches, however there are plenty of beaches nearby that are easily accessible by trains that don't cost the earth!

Lovely location. Plenty to do and is near lots of beautiful places like dartmoor and Cornwall. The hoe is a great place to go in hot weather. It's nice if you want to go to a smaller city with still lots to do. Train station and coach station so even though he far out, transport is okay still.

On first arrival in Plymouth it appeared that there wasn’t a lot to do. The night life only seemed average and the choice of eating establishments for students limited. But as time went on the quirkiness began to emerge, highlighting how much Plymouth has to offer. Drakes circus, has the majority of desired high street shops and is located very close to the Barbican where more restaurants and cocktail bars can be found on the sea front. A short walk from this you’ll find the Hoe, perfect for a BBQ in the midst of summer or a pleasant walk all year round. North Hill is where you’ll find the more unique, student orientated places at lower prices and offering more creative products. There are also more hidden gems than first meet the eye, including the Elizabethan Gardens. To summarise, Plymouth has a lot to offer, but it may not seem like it straight away. You have to do a bit of searching and also be have an understanding that it is not necessarily the night clubs that make the night but in fact the people you go with.

Beautiful scenery surrounding plymouth, is quite isolated and has long journeys. Lovely in the summer due to the surroundings beach’s and hoe. The fact that it’s a small city means everything is within walking distance.

I live right inbetween the university and city centre, so I have easy access to everything. There is a big Sainsbury's about a five minute walk away from uni, and a real express about two minutes away. This is perfect for students Sainsbury's has everything you need and the Tesco' s stay open until 11pm. There is a wide range of shops to choose from, and there is also access to a wide range of independent businesses alongside the harbour (only a 15-20 minute walk away). There are boat trips, one of which goes to an island filled with history and activities that could last a whole day. There are also small sections of coastline where you can swim in the sea or relax on the beach. Perfect if you haven't had the coastal experience before.

Plymouth uni is cracking! You’ve have plymouth hoe for them sunny days as well as the student union which is always busy on a night out, cheap as well! About half hour from the city centre there is Dartmoor, would recommend going as the scenery is beautiful! With plymouth you have that city life but can also escape to the country as well!

Small town centre 1 min walk from the uni and from first-year halls but very well equipped with a shopping centre and supermarkets and regular markets/festivals going on in the town centre. Also the sea front is a 5 minute walk from the town centre and is perfect all year round but especially in summer, when even with thousands of visitors, it still manages to stay clean and a nice place to chill.
