Gillwell Halls of residence closely resembled a prison, it was by far the worst place i have had the displeasure of living. My window only opened 2 inches barely letting any air in the room and when it was open the screams of drunken students echoed from the 3 bars surrounding the halls block, i barely slept at all throughout the whole year and ended up dropping out of uni due to the severely bad facilities Plymouth university has to offer.

Location was very good, literally across the road from uni so it only took me 5 minutes to get to lectures in the morning. It’s also a great location if you enjoy going out because you can get home really easily. The shared kitchen and bathroom were a bit outdated and very small- can’t fit more than 2 people in the kitchen comfortably if you’re both cooking. The room was very small as well and very very noisy at night. People were lovely and very social.

The rooms were small and cramped, along with having to share a tiny kitchen/living space with 5 other people. Although the location was perfectly situated right outside of the university and nearby to shops and nightlife.

Very close to campus not even a 5 minute walk away and town. Rooms pretty spacious with a big desk, shared bathroom had amazing shower and cleaners would come once a week which was very helpful.

Poor facilities, paint coming off the wall. Multiple complaints have been made for simple things such as our broom needed replacement and nothing has changed.

Location is amazing, it’s a minute walk to the university. It’s shared toilet and shower which is ok. Rooms are a little small but still comfortable to live in. There is a sink in every bedroom.

Pay £2 for a room with windows. Most of the ceiling is missing. No tables or chairs. We weren't given an iron but got charged for it being missing - my housemates were going to pay the charge before I stopped them. Opposite a loud club. Overall - waste of money for bad quality of living.

No communal area, mould problems in the rooms due to humidity, maintenance take ages to respond to problems.. but it’s cheap and the people living with me are great!

People are great. The building isn’t. No communal areas. Bad mould problems in rooms due to humidity.

The location is perfect as it is two minutes away from campus and Aldi is just a five minute walk away. As this is the cheapest accomadation the facilities are fairly basic but it has everting you need. The atmosphere is also very good.

The rooms aren't great, carpets a bit gross, no social area, maintenance guys come in all the time without knocking, painting and drilling at 9am. But it's so much cheaper than the other halls it's really worth it.

Cheapest uni provided accommodation, obviously has the least facilities but what it does have is pretty decent. Newly fitted shower and toilet as well as some decent kitchen appliances. A bunch of counter top space in the kitchen to sit on and make more space during a pres. Rooms are pretty small but the walls are pretty thick so no worries about making or hearing noise when it comes to your flatmates. A good sense of community due to everyone being in the same situation financially, can always find someone for a piss up, although kick out is 11 (turn down the music and the RA will usually let you stay if there aren't too many of you). Located very close to Fresher and Professor, Switch, Cuba, Bac Bar and Jake's, you'll be visiting all of them; oh and it's across the road from uni if you feel like going.

Location is perfect as it's pretty much on campus. Very sociable halls, the housemates I live with currently were all in the same block as me!

So my first impressions were a cooker without temperatures a cracked sink with a tap not attached and a lovely patch of damp with stains all over the carpet. 3 months I’m still no oven temperatures on the cooker in which the grill doesn’t work the sink is still cracked the tap regularly comes loose and the mould was finally cleared after 5 attempts of asking. And the social life is 0 because you shut your bedroom door as it’s a fire door and then the kitchen you can’t communicate to anyone in as it’s too small. The only good things are the new showers, the distance from uni and the WiFi when it works.

It’s located really close to campus and the clubs so great to out from! It’s incredibly social everyone is really friendly. However had some minor problems with things breaking in the flat and no common area. Overall a great place to live if you’re a social person but quite basic and be prepared in case things break.

Great location, round the corner you walk straight onto campus and opposite is fresher and professer as well as switch, Cuba all very close and town being a 5-10 minutes walk away. The cheapest accommodation which is small but very social, single sex flats with no communal area but is lots of people to mix with and decent size rooms and shared bathroom.
