Ormskirk is a beautiful town, many shops, things to do, market every Thursday and Saturday! Lively nightlife, tons of bars and a little nightclub too

Absolutely nothing to do, no good places to eat, no activities, no social areas whatsoever, by far the deadest town ever.

A nice little town although their is not much to do unless you drive or get the bus into near by city's like Liverpool, there are nice bars and it has a good night life.

Small but adequate town. Quaint and quiet but so full of character. Plenty of places to shop, eat, drink and even party. Perfect place to go if you don't want the hustle of the city. Easy train links to liverpool and preston. Bus links to skem, Wigan and st Helens.

It's a very small town but it's filled with great pubs, places to eat and tons of charity shops! Although it only has one nightclub in the actual town centre which is one of the few downsides, and this closes at 2 meaning it can get very noisy and rowdy on the town centre streets at closing time.

While Edge Hill university does have train access and a bus shuttle to it, one main problem arose in my experience: if you live in Rochdale, you NEED a car to get to class within a reasonable time as otherwise it literally takes 3 hours and that’s if you don’t need to wait for a delay. However, they do compensate pretty well with the parking about 97% of the time, as there’s not only a huge general car park, they have an overflow car park behind the sports fields in which there are fun golf buggies that transport you from the field to the top of the car park where you usually enter to uni. However, the other 3% is annoying when even the overflow car park is full and you have to park within the village and then walk over. The shopping is very limited in terms of much couture/clothes but the food places are so good! Cobble especially is just the best place for hangover breakfasts (read: brunch) and its milkshakes are to die for. The pricing isn’t too bad either, you’d think ormskirk might be more expensive but it’s not too shabby in terms of pricing, especially with the car parks e.g. £1 for 4 hours in the little car park near M&S.

Ormskirk itself is a nice little town but not great for student life. Although there a few shops, such as new look, most students will prefer to shop in Liverpool as there are loads of shops there and it is only a 20 minute train journey away. There are a few nice restaurants and pubs in the area but it is quite a quiet place to live. It isn't your typical uni lifestyle there but it is good if you prefer somewhere a bit quieter but still have the option of the city life in Liverpool.

ITS LITERALLY GOD'S WAITING ROOM. The only good pizza and kebab shop (Marmiras) closes at 12 on a weekday and if we're lucky 2 of a weekend, Alpine is small and shit and now you have to wait 2 hours to get in, when it's not worth it at all. Mustard Mondays, again Shit! No one hardly goes there anymore. However, the HorseShoe! That's where dreams come true, 6 messy smhits for a £5, 6 bud -£5. Bottle of prosecco £9, bottle of wine £8! Double ("triple") vodka blue £2.20. I am parcial to the quizz and kareoke night in styles of a Thursday. But yeah apart from that, it's basically a ghost town with a good kareoke bar

Even though there is only one nightclub in the town, it’s the best night out you will experience as a student here. Because the town is such a small market town, the value for money is amazing and there are plenty of places to eat. It’s only 25 minutes on the train to Liverpool, so anything you want to do or see is so close! It’s perfect to be so close to a major city, with all the perks of not actually being right in the center.

Ormskirk is a town full of character, and is great for students who don't want the hustle and bustle of city life. Ormskirk is full of shops, great nightlife, and is home to the scenic Ruff Woods. With quick and cheap train rides to Liverpool, Southport and Preston, there is always something to do in Ormskirk.

A little out of the way regarding big cities but the regular trains make this easy to work around. Busses are regular too, so getting to wider areas is easy too.

There's not much to do but there's regular busses and trains to places like Liverpool, Preston and Southport and staying in Ormskirk is nice as it safe and not full of drink people.

The nights out aren’t great, there is only one club worth going to - in which the music isn’t so good and the space is so small that you spend most of the night queuing. There are a few decent takeaways but most close at 10pm. Accommodation is ridiculously expensive, but they can overprice you because of how small the town is and limited access to housing.

This location is perfect for people who want a quite countryside but don’t want to be too far away from the city. With the right balance of shops close to the university in town or a short train journey into the centre of Liverpool.

I love Ormskirk! Such a friendly town and the university is great because it is all based on one campus and everything is easy to get too. Ormskirk has great transport links for Liverpool and Preston and has everything you could need!

Ormskirk is a lovely little market town in the North West. It has very little in terms of daytime entertainment, but does have a couple of nightclubs such as the infamous Alpine and Mustard clubs. The main food shops are Morrison's, Aldi and Iceland but there are a few other shops like Boots and Superdrug and a Home Bargain a 10 minute walk from the centre. There are many places to go for a meal, some lovely little places like The Mad Hatter, Bramley's and Cobble, as well as chains like Wetherspoons and Toby Carvery. Lots of travel links via bus or train to Liverpool, Preston and Southport, which is good for nights out and shopping trips. It's a lovely place but it can be a bit expensive and boring for students.

Lovely little market town, scenery and locals all amazing. Want a Wetherspoons? Skip the Court Leet and get to Market Cross near the church, one problem though all the clubs close at 2am.

Plenty of shops, a few bars and a couple of nightclub types. Decent places for students with it also being set in a nice location, a bit more rural than usual city unis. The town does well to accommodate for students even though there are many other residents of all ages, particularly the elderly.

Middle of no where. Not a lot to do. Not really a student town either, more full of pensioners so there's a big age difference in residents there however students have little power so it doesn't really work as a good place for students

Train station is very close by making it very convenient for my individual needs. Gives me a chance to have my own freedom, and have that easy access to go home whether I am finished for the day. Shopping and food are great, with a strip of a variety of different cultures to chose from. Also all facilities in MMU are up to a high standard and is student friendly at all times.

Ormskirk is a beautiful old town with so many books and crannies to discover. It's quiet from the busy city, yet the night life is plentiful with many bars and clubs, and of course Venue on campus. It's a cheap train and bus ride away from a shopping day in Liverpool, and a day at the beach at Southport. There are plenty of shops, from big stores to small family shops.

Nice town to live in, not too busy for if you don't like living in busy places like me. A little bit out of Liverpool, which can be an issue when on nights out or during train strikes, and there's isn't much to do for fun, but it's a lovely place to live.

It is a very small place with very minimal places to go. However with this in mind the nights out in Ormskirk are pretty good along with the places you can go for food shopping with both Morrison’s and Aldi and in the town centre there is a gym and multiple shops which is really good

Good area, next to Liverpool so good nightlife. Food is decent so can't really complain too much. The town is good but traffic in peak hours is horrible.
