Cripps Hall

The location was brilliant, right next to the lecture buildings and architecture where I needed to be. The hall food wasn't the best but it was edible and meant I didn't have to worry about food. The bathrooms were cleaned every day which helped and my room was neat and clean with new good furniture however the window let a lot of heat out. The social aspect of cripps was not as great as I expected, each block is desperate so you could walk round without seeing anyone all day and the hallways were not very communal and quite dark.also the bar was hidden away and never open which killed the atmosphere a lot.

The rooms are huge with 3/4 size beds, it's ten minutes walk away from the engineering/science buildings and the brunches are amazing in Saturdays

Best location on campus for halls. Notorious for being the 'Best hall' on campus which is true. Beautiful hall which you will not get bored of. Very fun for a first year student. Decent food.

Cripps was a great hall. Good location and good sized rooms throughout. Only downside was the misuse of the bar-could be utilised much better!

Cripps was a fantastic hall. The building was stunning, the rooms large, and the courtyard spacious. We had a free gym, free tennis courts and an all round great atmosphere. Food could’ve been better though.

Amazing hall, really social always something going on. Blocks are arranged kinda like houses with 10-25 ish people per block which means you get to know everyone. Food is okay pretty much what you’d expect from catered food sometimes good sometimes really not. Jcr committee was great organising loads of events for us. You not negative would be the bar isn’t open but there’s one really close as hustu which is always busy

The location was very convenient, a ten minute walk from all lectures and the students Union. The social aspect was good, my block was amazing but it wasn't as easy to talk to people in other blocks. My room was a good size with a 3/4 size bed and a sink, so it was easy to have friends over. Cripps is catered, and whilst the food wasn't amazing it was good enough for what it was.

Really pretty halls with the biggest rooms and the biggest beds. Dining room has a Hogwarts vibe to it. In terms of social experience, a lot of students there are from private schools and the culture clearly comes along with it to university.

Cripps hall was a wonderful experience that I thoroughly enjoyed - big rooms, nice windows, good light and the sink in your room meant it was less of a struggle to share a bathroom.

The rooms in Cripps are huge with big beds and a spacious layout. They have big windows that lookout onto the hall, which in itself is very pretty. The dining hall has a really nice atmosphere and is a great place to spend breakfast and dinner. Theres a small JCR which could be better, but the bar is a nicer social space despite the bar part rarely being open. There's also a small basic gym which is a nice extra.

Really like my halls, great atmosphere and place for first years The formals are the highlight of the years and the committee do a really good job at organizing social events throughout the year My room is spacious and new There are good social spaces, a large canteen, a gym, library, a bar, a landerette, printing room etc I couldn't recommend these halls enough Best halls at uni of nottingham by far

The food is actually not that great at all especially if you have any dietary requirements. The bedrooms and location are amazing and well worth the money. The social experience is quite good and it is evident the committee put a lot of effort into the social aspect of the hall, organising regular events and formals. However, the common room is so bad in comparison to other halls and is cold and uncomfortable.

Amazing halls in terms of rooms, dining and facilities. Met some really lovely people there and everyone seems to know everyone. You will be at a disadvantage if you're not from Surrey as you won't know everyone already but some great people to meet!

The room was nice and big but the people just party so much so if you’re not about that it’s not tooooo great an experience but the people themselves are all really lovely and the hall is very pretty and large

Double beds, sinks in the rooms, have a cleaner. Food is mostly okay but nothing amazing. Lovely looking buildings etc. Hasn't got a bar in it like other halls though (i.e. Hu Stu, Willoughby or Derby). Like most halls it's on the main campus so easy to get to and from lectures.

Cripps is the most central of the catered on campus halls, making it perfect for any degree group. Being one of the oldest and largest halls the rooms aren't to a very high standard but they're large. Most are 3/4 beds coming with a wardrobe, desk, shelf, sink (with some en-suites in certain blocks) My block had 3 floors of 6 with 2 toilets on each, and to be quite honest at 1 between 3 there usually isn't much issue with people wanting it at the same time. The internet is a set system all over campus. Not usually too bad but there will be certain times when it doesn't cope, weekends ect. Also, if you're a gamer direct Ethernet is your only option. Because of the security systems you can't connect wirelessly, same with the printers, and i could never figure out how to connect my DS. Food is served at set time in a morning and evening, and although there tends to be 3 meal options per time, there's usually only one that will look edible. If you're a fussy eater, go self-catered; it'll be worth the hassle. If you're vegetarian, there is that option but vegans will end up starving. During the day you are given a meal card with £27 per week to spend in a variety of shops around campus including meals at the campus bars (Hugh Stu next door to Cripps has one of these) or even spar, so make sure to spend any excess of chocolate before it rolls over on Sunday. The really annoying thing I thought was having to move all your stuff out over the holidays. I'm only from Sheffield so it's not much of a trip but having to pack the stuff up for Christmas/Easter is just a hassle I could have done without. But, I refuse to pay extra on top of what is already expensive accommodation.

It's very nice. Great location and a good social feel too it. Not enough social areas though. Food is alright

It looks really nice, and the food was surprisingly good for halls food. The wifi was often intermittent, dropping out and stayed off for a long time at times. People were horrendous, all were very up themselves, but that's not something you've got control over. If not in a cliche, social experience was poor.
