The nightlife is great, the city is always so full of life. Shopping is also good, especially at Eldon Square and there are lots and lots of different restaurants throughout the city. It’s difficult to get bored!

Newcastle is great! The nightlife is probably the best part, there is something going on literally every night and the city is so full of life all the time. There are lots of places for shopping as well, like Eldon Square and Metrocentre is also pretty close from here.

Newcastle is a lovely city to live study and work in. It is cheap as anything, transport is brill and nights out are amazing. In newcastle a night out probs costs me £50 which is not bad at all everything is fairly priced.

Newcastle is a great place to experience student life. It has many events going on in freshers week, not only at the student union but also around the different clubs around Newcastle. Also, there are many good value places to go for food and drinks around Newcastle due to it being such a student city. There is a massive shopping centre in Newcastle centre, as well as an even bigger one just outside of Newcastle, so shopping is pretty good in Newcastle. It definitely has a student feel to it.

A compact city with lots to do, There is a good metro network and most shops and nightlife etc is very central and close together. This makes it easy to get around. There’s lots to do in terms of activities sports etc. Overall I find it a great place to live and would recommend it for anyone.

Friendliest people in the country. Never more than 100 metres from a Greggs and the nightlife caters for everyone no matter what sort of night you're wanting. Just avoid McDonalds on Northumberland Street at around 3am!

I love this city! Everything is so close to your doorstep when you choose inner city accommodation. The Intu Eldon Square is great for when Newcastle is raining (most of the time) but you still want to go out and do something without getting soaked. I love the Town Moor, a huge park around 10 mins from the city centre that's perfect for picnics or if you fancy seeing some greenery.

One of the best cities in the country! Nightlife is second to none! Shopping in Eldon square or Northumberland street is excellent with lots of shops offering student discount! Take a short metro ride to Tynemouth and have a walk along one of the north East’s best beaches! Couldn’t recommend it enough!

Perfect city, does everything brilliantly in a relatively small area. As a student it has everything but I would also be very happy to live here once I start working

It's great and I really love the atmosphere around the city. There is always a lot going on around the city from protests to bands and buskers. It's a great place for a night out too. With cheap drinks which also results in a lot of drunk students.

Great city and really cheap cost of living. Can not fault nightlife, and amazing restaurants in town. Good uni’s.

There's always something for everyone on a night out, relatively inexpensive aswell. Diverse range of restaurants. Shopping is okay, Newcastle has most retail brands. Plenty of culture and activities, a lot if escape rooms!

The discounts on restaurants and shopping at Does the big stores and restaurants can be really beneficial regarding the budget students have

This place is just unlike no other. Where else in the UK can you get into a club for free, pay 7.80 for 2 trebles and a jager bomb and then be able to grab a cheese and chips with garlic sauce for 2.50 on the way back home. In Newcastle they have this shopping centre called Intu Eldon Square. One section of the shopping centre is they have all the popular shops you can think of but also in the different section, there's about 20 different food places, I mean you can't go wrong can you.

Newcastle is a very compact city and that makes it a students paradise. The uni campus is usually within a 20/30 minute walk from most student houses, but there are plenty that are only a brief 5 minute walk to campus. The campus itself is situated on the Northside of the city centre and walking to the High Street takes a little over 5 minutes, in which you'll have all of the regular brands and shops that you're used to. There's also plenty of great places to eat and drink within walking distance. This is especially useful on nights out, as you can usually just walk everyone and save the taxi fare or spend it on food (my personal choice.) All in all, Newcastle is a great student city and I'm sure will meet all of your needs.

Great city with the university being in the centre of the city. Newcastle is truly a student friendly city

Everything in the city centre is within walking distance while the metro offers people the opportunity to get around if it's a larger walking distance, therefore there is no need to bring your car. I would recommend a day out at Tynemouth beach at least once and getting the metro there is easy enough. Newcastle itself has many shops for day time activities but you can also take the train to the Metrocentre for a day out! Nights out are CHEAP! Three trebles for a fiver in some bars! There is a diverse nightlife, with different music and atmospheres depending on when you go out and what mood you are in. There are some AMAZING places to go eat with an incredible range of choice that seems strange for such a small city. If you're not a night out kind of person there's Museums, Cinemas, Theatres, and so many other things to do that are non drinking related. People are lovely that are originally from here so you can talk to a stranger on the street if you fancy a chat or need some help. I believe it is the perfect student city with many students already enjoying themselves living here from Northumbria and Newcastle University.

Newcastle is the perfect city, especially for any new students moving from not such a large area. It's a big enough city to get you accustomed to the city life, but not too big that it is overwhelming. There's so much to do food and drink wise, as well as nights out. It's also insanely cheap for us students!

Both campus’ for Northumbria are based in really good areas. The main central campus (which is based in Newcastle City Centre) is probably the better out of the two though. There are loads of different factors which make this campus location ideal. Firstly, the campus is literally based in the middle of town so you have everything you need around you, Eldon Square shopping centre, multiple supermarket stores and also a great transport link! (Even though the metro isn’t always the most reliable transport system.) The location of the university is also ideal for people who love nights out, due to Newcastle offering so many nightclubs and pubs to go to. As well as this, Town has a really wide selection of restaurants to choose from as well, which is great if you want to eat out! Coach Lane Campus is also a really good university campus, although it does take longer to get there. However, I really enjoy being based at this campus, especially since everything you need is based conviently a few minutes from each other.

All the charm of a smaller city, with all the bars, nightclubs, things to do you could ever want as a student. Definitely better value for money than most student cities, from the cost of transport, accommodation, nights out and more.

Plenty and amazing shops to do shopping, loads of places to eat! And so many different things to do and see. Nights out are always the best as there’s always events on and ways to get cheaper drinks and entries, plenty places to go making it a fab night
