The location isn’t great with loads of areas suited specifically to students. The city centre is great and has enough shops without being too busy and is close to the metro centre as well. There are a wide variety of restaurants, cafes and bars all of which are within walking distance to one another. You can also walk down to the quayside which is great, especially the market on a Sunday. Grainger market is also fab with cheap buys for students! Jesmond is full of student housing and bars along osbourne road and close to gyms etc. It is also close to the beach which is a good day out and tynemouth is a good place to bring parents and friends from home.

Newcastle University is located in the center of Newcastle upon Tyne. A short walk takes you to Northumberland street which is packed with cafes, restaurants and high end stores, as well as grocery shops and you name it. It’s proximity to intu shopping center too means that there is convenient access to many eateries and places to shop. The monument, located about less than 10 minutes away from the University by walking is an exciting meeting point, with something always going on around it. The area is the most lively place in Newcastle and the closeness of the University makes it feel very easy to balance study and leisure.

Newcastle is an absolutely brilliant city! The people are all so friendly and it feels weirdly safe and compact for such a popular city. Very diverse so it has plenty of opportunities to get involved with other cultures and events. The night life is legendary and so is the food! There's enough variety for even the pickiest of eaters. If you fancy a stroll the quayside is beautiful and you should definitely take up the opportunity to walk along the bridge. All in all an awesome place to work and live in, the only negative is how cold it is!

Really nice city in the heart of Newcastle, has very nice shopping malls, primark is the cheapest place for clothing.

Newcastle University is on the edge of the city, meaning it’s so close to everything!! He city itself has multiple transport links, high street shops, restaurants and quirky food chains, and markets. This is all in addition to the attractive sights of the Tyne river that runs through the quayside, just like the beautiful (but windy!) coast at South Shields and Tynemouth.

Plenty of clubs in Newcastle centre with good travel links to places like Gateshead, Sunderland and Durham.
