Newcastle is a beautiful city. It's small, compared to many other cities in the UK, which could be either a pro or a con. I like it because it means that pretty much everything you need is in walking distance - shops, the cinema, bars, restaurants... there's also a fab range of each. There are easily enough shops to spend an entire day in Newcastle shopping. Not only are there commercial cinemas, but also independent ones which offer something a little bit different. Some of the best restaurants I've ever been to have been in Newcastle, and there's a great range. And, obviously, the bars are definitely not lacking - from cheap drinks to classy venues!

Newcastle is an amazing city full of life and energy. It's nice cobbled streets and small city centre makes a great day out walking around the street shops and checking out all the high street style and vintage shops. I love the many real ale bars it has and endless cocktail bars. Newcastle is a great night out full of diverse clubs from techno to hip-hop to dive treble bars! Everyone is very friendly in Newcastle and welcomes anyone into their city.

Newcastle is a friendly and welcoming area, it has many options for eating out, thousands of shops to choose from, transport is frequent and accessible. It really is a great place to be, entertainment is always an option no matter the time of year, and there are lots of bars and pubs to choose from. I find that it is a very fair cost when spending time there and would recommend this place.

Newcastle is known as the 15 minute city for a reason, it has everything you need within walking distance and the metro and bus services makes it quick and easy to get in and out of. The nights out are a class above the rest

Beautiful city with loads of events to attend and things to do. Transportation is really good and now there is night bus service. Loads of different restaurants with amazing food with reasonable prices.

I moved here in 2017 for study purposes. Absolutely great city so much to do and see, so many different places to go out to eat with a range of cuisines. Certain parts of the city are really amazing and eye opening such as Quayside and the Angel of the North site. You've also got the coastal town of Tynemouth only a 10 minute drive away. The shopping centres are also really good, you've got Intu Eldon Square, located in the City Centre and there's Intu MetroCentre which is in Gateshead (again, only about a 10 minute drive).

A beautiful city which offers lots to do at a great prices. Its a city designed for students. The great night life offers a wider variety of choices every night of the week. The daytime entertainment isnt too bad either with shopping centres, cinemas, restraunt and more at your disposal.

A good night out albeit a little pricey, some good (slightly rough) pubs and also higher end night clubs depending what you're into. Some amazing places for food in and around the city centre for all price budgets. Theatre is a beautiful building and worth the visit. Francescas in Jesmond is a beautiful Italians, best around.

Everything you'd ever want is in Newcastle; food, night life, history and shopping. Eldon Square in the city centre boasts an entire food court full of restaurants with a massive range of shops above. The night life is always there from around 7 at night but everyone is always friendly and respectful so I have always felt safe! The only downside is the weather sometimes gets you down but there are loads of things to indoors!

Very good nights out with a wide variety suiting all preferences, from quieter bars to clubs to events, most of them have cheap drinks and entry especially through the week days. Lots of places to shop, eat and drink with lots of student deals.

Nights out very boring. The food is extremely amazing with a range of different cuisines to choose from and never get bored of the food here because there are so many different styles of foods to choose from. The shopping centre is good place to shop as it is vary spacious and easy to find other shops. There are other activities such as laser tag and paint balling. It is definitely worth ur while and money

Overall Newcastle is a very enjoyable place, mostly due to the great shopping experience from Eldon square. Apart from shopping it is a pleasant place to be with a welcoming community with lots of spirit. There are lots of parks for families to enjoy also.

Such a small, compact city - everything is within walking distance. Therefore I don't spend any money on travel costs i.e. to and from uni/work/town. I love how both universities are in the city centre and are so close together, it makes for a very student friendly city. There's also loads of restaurants to choose from which is good for foodies.

Newcastle is a vibrant city with a great nightlife and is excellent for a shopping trip. The transport could be improved, particularly the metro but this is made up for with brilliant entertainment including at the theatre royal. There are excellent restraurants to choose from including the more pricey Miller and Carter or for a cheaper experience there is plenty of options in Eldon square.

There is so much to do in Newcastle for food and nights out, whether it's for a couple or groups there is stuff for everyone.

Nights out are average, the food is class as there's a load to choose from however there isn't much variety in shopping. Most things are too expensive for us students, but we try our best!!

I visited my uni and really liked the city. It’s not too big but has good nightlife, nice pubs and is really cheap.

Great city for nightlife and a small enough city to have everything in it within reasonable distance from each other. Just a long travel though to anywhere else in England

lots of places to go on nights out, there's something everyone would enjoy. there's lots of shops which would attract to students.

Newcastle is a great place to go study and get the full university experience. It is brilliant for the nightlife with several student nights with really good discount on drinks and always very busy with other students. Loads of places to go eat for any budget and a good shopping centre and the metro centre is just a train ride away.

I think its one of the best cities in the UK to live in aa student since it provides value for money. The housing is cheap, the food is and going out even cheaper, its the perfect city for a student still wanting to live in a city like an environment and still afford to go out
