Newcastle is a beautiful city. It's small, compared to many other cities in the UK, which could be either a pro or a con. I like it because it means that pretty much everything you need is in walking distance - shops, the cinema, bars, restaurants... there's also a fab range of each. There are easily enough shops to spend an entire day in Newcastle shopping. Not only are there commercial cinemas, but also independent ones which offer something a little bit different. Some of the best restaurants I've ever been to have been in Newcastle, and there's a great range. And, obviously, the bars are definitely not lacking - from cheap drinks to classy venues!

Pretty decent place, quite small so easy to get places, pretty cold but it's the North so what do you expect, a surplus of Greggs which is just like a dream come true, and nice Geordie people too.

I moved to Newcastle for University 3 years ago and it was the best decision I've ever made. Personally, the best part for me is ths night life, with every week day offering a different event (Monday and Thursday are particularly good). Also, the town centre is full of shops and places to eat so you're always spoiled for choice.

There is a lot to do in Newcastle , there is a lot of shops and fun things to do, like the ice skating at the centre for life in winter

Newcastle is a great place to move to as a first time away from home. The night life is amazing, there's plenty of free stuff to do around the city if you're poor (student life) and loads of places for food and drinks, with great deals and offers. There's always a bus, taxi or metro to get around the city.

Newcastle is an amazing city full of life and energy. It's nice cobbled streets and small city centre makes a great day out walking around the street shops and checking out all the high street style and vintage shops. I love the many real ale bars it has and endless cocktail bars. Newcastle is a great night out full of diverse clubs from techno to hip-hop to dive treble bars! Everyone is very friendly in Newcastle and welcomes anyone into their city.

Great city with so much to do! Everything you could want is within walking distance from most uni accomodation and houses. The nightlife is as good as it's reputation and far more varied than I expected. The locals are so friendly and very welcoming, there is loads of places to shop and having St James' park right near the centre is so unusual for a football stadium.

Newcastle is a friendly and welcoming area, it has many options for eating out, thousands of shops to choose from, transport is frequent and accessible. It really is a great place to be, entertainment is always an option no matter the time of year, and there are lots of bars and pubs to choose from. I find that it is a very fair cost when spending time there and would recommend this place.

Newcastle is known as the 15 minute city for a reason, it has everything you need within walking distance and the metro and bus services makes it quick and easy to get in and out of. The nights out are a class above the rest

Newcastle is beautiful city. With all the essential being in a 20 mins walk radius in the centre. The Quayside is very pretty perfect for nice afternoons. A slight lack of green spaces

Beautiful city with loads of events to attend and things to do. Transportation is really good and now there is night bus service. Loads of different restaurants with amazing food with reasonable prices.

I moved here in 2017 for study purposes. Absolutely great city so much to do and see, so many different places to go out to eat with a range of cuisines. Certain parts of the city are really amazing and eye opening such as Quayside and the Angel of the North site. You've also got the coastal town of Tynemouth only a 10 minute drive away. The shopping centres are also really good, you've got Intu Eldon Square, located in the City Centre and there's Intu MetroCentre which is in Gateshead (again, only about a 10 minute drive).

A beautiful city which offers lots to do at a great prices. Its a city designed for students. The great night life offers a wider variety of choices every night of the week. The daytime entertainment isnt too bad either with shopping centres, cinemas, restraunt and more at your disposal.

Newcastle is a lovely city to live in. Plenty of night life and things to do. Would definitely recommend. Brown ale is also mint!!

Lovely and exciting city, needs more cheaper restaurants available to appeal to uni students. Drinks in nightclubs should be cheaper as it limits the amount of days I can go out.

Great city. Always feel safe when walking alone. New restaurant section of Eldon square is great. The quayside is a beautiful walk and the city is so clean.

Newcastle has a great nightlife to the point it always feels like you're on holiday. There's always events on and always something to do. Everything's is walking distance from each other and it's so easy to get from one place to another. Friendliest people around, a great place to move to.

A good night out albeit a little pricey, some good (slightly rough) pubs and also higher end night clubs depending what you're into. Some amazing places for food in and around the city centre for all price budgets. Theatre is a beautiful building and worth the visit. Francescas in Jesmond is a beautiful Italians, best around.

Best city in UK got everything you need and isn't too big or too small. Friendly people, cheap and good student city!

Newcastle has been branded the best student city for a while now and there is absolutely no reason why it shouldn't be! Newcastle has everything whether it's great food at an amazing value, places to shop, countless student housing locations at varying prices, places to see concerts and theatre or even the beach! (Granted it's a metro ride away and it's always freezing but it's there!) Newcastle is an amazing place to make your home away from home. There is always something to do and more to discover in the beautiful city full of friendly welcoming people. I can't recomment it enough.

Extremely good value for money in terms of nights out and clubs as a whole. Great variety of places to check out shopping wise but slight lack of vintage shops unfortunately.

This is the perfect city for students. Everything is so close, shopping clubs, bars, restaurants etc. There is everything you need and on sunny days you can easily go to the beach or at the quay side where they create a mini beach for the summer.
