St Mary's is really far away from both Newcastle city centre and university buildings / campus. Luckily my flat was rennovated so the facilities were good but not all the flats were. Because of the location, it's hard to make friends from other halls, but easy to make friends in your halls. You would always need a taxi back after a night out (as opposed to walking). If you only had one lecture in the middle of the day it was hard because the free buses run from 8-10 am and there are only 2 buses back one at 5pm and one at 6pm. But it was only £80 per week as opposed to £100+.

The facilities and staff at St. Mary's were perfect and made living there pleasant. However the distance from the city centre and University was a nuisance and felt isolating at times. I would not recommend the halls for a particularly sociable student, as the majority of students living there do so because of the quiet environment.

2 miles from the uni and centre of town is ridiculous, poor location of the common room which has no access from within the halls as well as the bike shed. Problems with electricity and dodgy fire alarms going off in the night, as well as construction work or staff members waking you up at 9am without warning for no apparent reason but to complain or make noise. Constant shower and toilet problems which take months to fix leaving the flat with only one shower/ toilet.

Over 2 miles from the university and centre of town is ridiculous, also many problems with electricity and fire alarms going off in middle of the night. Staff members and building work waking you up at 9am, all making uni life just that bit more difficult. Only silver lining is the price, which is only good in comparison with other overly priced accommodations.

Great halls to live in in terms of housing and furniture. But not a great location hard to get in and out of uni. Not a very social halls as well. Also transport back to the halls is not amazing.

It’s a really nice accommodation, with really nice people, there are a few problems such as people’s bikes being nicked, and the fact that we’ve only just gotten a replacement free bus, but other than that absolutely love it

Further away than most, but I grew to appreciate it. Bring a bike or get one cheaply, then uni really isn't far at all. It was quite good preparation for second year being further away, and much quieter than the madhouses of Castle Leazes or then Richardson Road (RIP).
