Oak House

Good value for money. Very cheap halls, so you get what you pay for. It's not modern and super clean. Kitchen is a reasonable size. Very lively, if you're not up for going out quite a bit then you may not get on well here, as on the weekends especially you will undoubtedly hear music until the early hours of the morning.

The social experience of Oak House is the best you'll get in Manchester and FREE TISSUE ! Also you save more money for the sesh x Terrible WiFi

This is one of the cheapest halls and it is very basic. The rooms are not large but they have plenty of space to put stuff under the beds. I was in chestnut so had a sink in my room which was really nice. Helpful for when you were hungover and needed a drink! It also meant our bathrooms were set out more like a family bathroom which I shared with 3 other girls so it wasn’t bad at all. And it was cleaned regularly by a cleaner. Even though it is a bit grim on first sights it is one of the most social halls and I had the best time. I had so many friends in this hall and all my friends who didn’t live here wanted to. I would tell anyone going to Manchester to live in oak house. Right at the centre of the buzzing Fallowfield without being in the tower and having to be subjected to awful food that is way overpriced. Much better to have your independence and cook for yourself

Oak house is good for social but the actual resources aren't great, half of the flats have single glazing in the room meaning that it is very cold and also the kitchens went very well provided for, without a toaster and also a lack of fridge or freezer space

good location next to lots of supermarkets, corner shops, taskeaways, bars, pubs and restaurants. Really cheap price for accommodation. Nice that it's next to lots of other halls so lots of people always around. Next to a student bar

The facilities meet all the basic needs and the regular cleaners are very convenient, however all the rooms vary in size and unfortunately I have the smallest one. Naturally for the lower cost the halls are quite ugly but I suppose you get what you pay for.

Accomodation very prison like, however the people make up for the tiny rooms. Oak house hosts the best nightlife and most friendly atmosphere, plus it’s the cheapest you can find.

Oak House is good if you want to party but also get stuff done. Being situated near a computer cluster helps with the studying and being close to many shops, bars, clubs and restaurants helps with anything else. The only downfall of oak house is the decor, green is not a nice colour for walls and the prison look isn’t that appealing either.

Our halls in Manchester were great for the social side of things but in term dog appliances and general homeliness they were not so great. The vibe was quite prison cell esque and the rooms were small but the location was good and it felt quite communal

Located in fallowfield, quite a lot of crime but a very busy and budding place. I like it. Oak house is the cheapest accommodation however I do still feel like it’s a rip off because it’s quite grim and the grudges are too small (share a shelf) and freeze food all the time. Saying that, oak house is extremely sociable and everyone wishes they lived here because of that. It has its own bar called squirrels and it’s absolutely brilliant. Can get leathered for a 10er and watch the football on the big screen. Rooms are old fashioned but nice and homely.

Looks a bit like a prison and we don't think our fire alarm works, but has a great party atmosphere and everyone is really chill.

Location is perfect. Sometimes a bit loud and down right decrepit but a very sociable place! Could probably do with being knocked down and built again but I had a thoroughly enjoyable year. If you expect anything better than a prison room then you will be disappointed, but it's what you make of it.

Oak house is in a great location, fallowfield is the centre of everything for students in Manchester. Underrated halls to be honest, does what it says on the tin. Kitchen is big enough for every need. The cheapest halls available and certainly worth the saving

Worst halls ever. Terrible facilities, terrible people, terrible experience. The decor is essentially a glorified prison cell, with numbers on the doors and massive green brick walls. The accommodation team suck, maintenance is pretty non existant. It is like as you have chose the cheapest halls, they think you don't really care about facilities at all, £95 a week is far too expensive in my opinion. I got put in a halls with absolute wierdos, so I don't want to speak for the rest of Oak House in terms of social experience, as Oak House and Fallowfield in general is pretty fun. I imagine if my flat was't so dead I would have enjoyed it more than I did.

Good amount of space, good layout in terms of kitchen and living space together. Toilet facilities are good with 2 showers and toilets between 8 of us. Corridors are quite tight but manageable. Location is 30 min walk from university. Ground floor can be noisy given I'm near the main route into the halls and 30 seconds from the squirrels bar so can be difficult to sleep but distance from bar is useful as its the cheapest around.

Overall, really enjoyed my time in Oak house halls. The accommodation was cheap and very affordable. The location in fallowfield was excellent! The colour scheme (green breeze block walls) was not great, however, great flatmates and social scene made up for this!

Social experience abso 10/10 oak hous e is LITT ! Only reason for 4 stars is that. Our kitchen is p huge too which is great but not many have it so good. The walls are dire tbh who chose that fusty pale green BREEEZEBLOCK design its horrific. Also the showers and heating are a bit temperamental and you have to reside in what could constitute as a prison cell but eh, who cares, that's oak house living init. Also why is porn blocked on eduroaam? A lil silly ahaha

Oak house is on the Fallowfield campus and this is a good area to live in as it is like a Student village and most students live in houses in Fallowfield after 1st year so it’s good to get used to the area. If you get a Student bus pass it takes around 30 mins at busy times to get into uni and at more quieter times 15 mins. Bus passes are around £200 for the year and you can use them on most buses to get around Manchester. Oak house is a cheap and cheerful halls of residence, it’s a bit outdated but it does the job. I think that halls biggest plus is the social experience, I had a great year and met some great people there

Room and halls are tiny but the community and social aspect is amazing. Made some great friends and had an amazing first semester

Was like a prison, had a hole in my wall under the windowsill for a while. Good set up, plastered and not green walls would have been nice.

Only 95 pound a week so don’t expect much. Nice little shoebox room but the money saved can be put to better use than an en suite. Also known as broak house. For people who like to be social as the set up is very communal. Another pro is that it’s very close to Squirrels.

lively location, tiny rooms but super sociable. flats of 8 people arranged in blocks composed of 4 flats - most blocks usually socialise together / go out together.

Location is in fallowfield which requires a buss pass to get into university. Social experience wise, Oak House was great, with a pub near by. Room is awful though, very small.

You get what you pay for. It was the cheapest hall in fallowfield. Room wasn't the biggest size, but it had a well sized desk, single bed etc, everything you need. Maintenance staff were quick with fixing stuff.
