Oak House

Great location for halls as the fallowfield area has lots of other students from others years as well as affordable bars and restaurants which creates a positive student atmosphere. My experience within in my flat in Oak House was great as firstly it was very cheap but also had a range of other options for rooms with more luxuries. The flats have a large sized common area which made it easy for all of my flat to hang out and invite people round. The close proximity to other flats meant meeting other people was very easy. All the staff was really friendly especially our cleaner.

Everything you need, really fun place to live for freshers. Sometimes was too hot. Don't need to get a room with a sink as not neccasary. Great location, close to everything.

Oak House is quite far from the lush London areas from which most of its inhabitants hail. It does however, and forgive the cliche, have character. The vibrant and close-knit student community is enough to make you forget about the prison-like interiors of your halls, at least until, about half way through the year, the poverty-inspired fashion of Fallowfield students really blooms and unironically tethers itself to the Oak House architectural style, resulting in the community's characteristic prison-chic aesthetic.

The social experience and the location outweighs all negatives - I would redo first year twice in Oak house! Most of the people I knew in other halls like Victoria Park wished they were in oak house or Owens park because of the social experience, and people from Richmond and sheavyn would always come to oak house for flat parties. Oak house was my 3rd choice but I’m so so happy I got put here.

Perfect location, very sociable and in the middle of the student atmosphere. Perfect for students who don't mind too much about having pretty halls but care more about making friends and having a nice time. Study facilities in the area are ideal when you actually need to knuckle down and revise

It’s a cheap and lively place to stay. It’s location is great and has a bar on site. Any first years dream.

Cheap, cheerful definitely place to go if you want a laugh. Why go to a boring hall for peace and quiet when there’s plenty of library’s?

Very good location, enjoyable social experience. My room was quite small however it had everything I needed and there was a big desk. My flat also had the facilities I needed and a sink in my room

Worth it for the social experience and fallowfield is a great location for students with lots of places for food and to go out. Although the rooms are a bit small and things willl break because they were brought in the 60s, you grow to love it

good location next to lots of supermarkets, corner shops, taskeaways, bars, pubs and restaurants. Really cheap price for accommodation. Nice that it's next to lots of other halls so lots of people always around. Next to a student bar

Overall, really enjoyed my time in Oak house halls. The accommodation was cheap and very affordable. The location in fallowfield was excellent! The colour scheme (green breeze block walls) was not great, however, great flatmates and social scene made up for this!

Room and halls are tiny but the community and social aspect is amazing. Made some great friends and had an amazing first semester

lively location, tiny rooms but super sociable. flats of 8 people arranged in blocks composed of 4 flats - most blocks usually socialise together / go out together.

Good social scene and cheap! Also mixed which is a lot better and good for flat parties as the kitchens are big

Arguably the best halls for making new friends and for layout. At Manchester, most people know Oak House as the party halls but they're also the halls with the most convenience (near the bus stop, in Fallowfield so near to different shops, restaurants and bars) and security make sure during exam times they're quiet enough to work in. Despite the gritty interior, anyone who has ever lived in Oak House, will tell you how much they want to return. I would trade in my big third year room and double bed but for one more night in my old block. Also right next to Squirrels, the cheapest student bar I've heard of
