Oak House

Location is perfect. Sometimes a bit loud and down right decrepit but a very sociable place! Could probably do with being knocked down and built again but I had a thoroughly enjoyable year. If you expect anything better than a prison room then you will be disappointed, but it's what you make of it.

Good amount of space, good layout in terms of kitchen and living space together. Toilet facilities are good with 2 showers and toilets between 8 of us. Corridors are quite tight but manageable. Location is 30 min walk from university. Ground floor can be noisy given I'm near the main route into the halls and 30 seconds from the squirrels bar so can be difficult to sleep but distance from bar is useful as its the cheapest around.

Social experience abso 10/10 oak hous e is LITT ! Only reason for 4 stars is that. Our kitchen is p huge too which is great but not many have it so good. The walls are dire tbh who chose that fusty pale green BREEEZEBLOCK design its horrific. Also the showers and heating are a bit temperamental and you have to reside in what could constitute as a prison cell but eh, who cares, that's oak house living init. Also why is porn blocked on eduroaam? A lil silly ahaha

Oak house is on the Fallowfield campus and this is a good area to live in as it is like a Student village and most students live in houses in Fallowfield after 1st year so it’s good to get used to the area. If you get a Student bus pass it takes around 30 mins at busy times to get into uni and at more quieter times 15 mins. Bus passes are around £200 for the year and you can use them on most buses to get around Manchester. Oak house is a cheap and cheerful halls of residence, it’s a bit outdated but it does the job. I think that halls biggest plus is the social experience, I had a great year and met some great people there

Only 95 pound a week so don’t expect much. Nice little shoebox room but the money saved can be put to better use than an en suite. Also known as broak house. For people who like to be social as the set up is very communal. Another pro is that it’s very close to Squirrels.

Location is in fallowfield which requires a buss pass to get into university. Social experience wise, Oak House was great, with a pub near by. Room is awful though, very small.

You get what you pay for. It was the cheapest hall in fallowfield. Room wasn't the biggest size, but it had a well sized desk, single bed etc, everything you need. Maintenance staff were quick with fixing stuff.
