Where do I start? Arriving in freshers this hall looked like a prison and was a big culture shock. However, the crap living conditions made socialising extra easy and freshers was amaizng. However, after freshers you realised the problems. The hall is off campus so you have to get the 699 to uni and that means if you want to have breakfast when you have a 9am you have to be there before 8 am. Unlike those on campus who role out of bed 5 minutes before lectures start. Also the large number of people made those more vulnerable to be left out completely iscolated. With some students struggling to leave their rooms and others having to eat their dinner on their own while other flats went in large groups toegther. My hall experience socially differed throughout the year in terms of my flat but I always had friends in other halls in carni to hang out with. Looking at my friends flats and my boyfriends I can see the positives of Carnatic if you have a lovely flat and I can also see the negatives if you don’t get on the best with them. The walls were thin and listening to people screaming and banging the doors after a night out was a joke. But all on all I’m still glad I came to carni because the halls on campus don’t always get a good rep for being social.

Carnatic halls made my first year, but I couldn't do it for another year! It was such a social halls of residence which I think is perfect for first year, the bar at Carnatic was great. I had 21 people in my flat which was slightly crazy at times but to come to a uni where I didn't know anyone and to automatically have a large amount of people to socialise with- I think the more people that are in your flat in first year the more likely you are to find people that you get on with. We were catered for which also took pressure off first year- with both time and money

The halls as a whole were a great way to meet people in first year as you lived with 10-12 people on your floor. Also being catered was a good way to socialise. The Salisbury Hall itself is pretty basic, it has everything, heating, WiFi etc but it doesn't always work or reach your room, and the halls weren't very clean even though we had a weekly cleaner come in to clean the communal areas.

Location a good distance from uni, bus stop right outside so easy to get to uni and town. Best halls socially, lots on people on each floor so a lot of people to meet.

Social experience was great, I met a varied group of people and made great friends. Facilities were great, having a bar on sight made socialising easy and I really enjoyed the food.

Halls itself is old and dated, but the social side is great. The catered meals are average and can be very good or very bad depending on the day.

Good atmosphere and social life, rooms were quite good size and had their own sink, facilities are average, food was fairly nice

Too expensive for what it is but at least it's in a nice area of Liverpool.

The location was poor as we had to get a 25minute bus to uni or 30 minute bus into town. The social experience was next to none. With a floor of 15+ people, you're bound to find friends for life. The catered food was basic canteen food but it definitely gives you one less thing to worry about when settling into university life.

gets a reputation as hard work to live here but you meet more people than in self catered accommodation and its more fun

Was sick experience, most sociable hall and most fun. Rooms are simple yet clean and have everything you need. would definitely reccomend Salisbury Hall to anyone

Good facilities such as study rooms and a common room, catered and the food is nice nothing special, lots of options at breakfast. Only trouble being that it is a bus journey from the university and the bus company arriva have striked 9 times which is kind of ridiculous the university didn't offer anything when the bus pass cost £375 but apart from that I really enjoy it and it's good for partying living here with chilled out RAs

Really good hall, enjoyed my time there! It was very social and the shared toilets weren’t an issue at all infact it was great that I didn’t have to clean them. I didn’t really get on with most the people on my floor, but because you can access all the floors it was great in terms of meeting new people! I really enjoyed Salisbury and Carnatic and would recommend to anyone!

The location of Salisbury Hall was beautiful, near to Sefton Park and surrounded by trees and calm roads. It was a bit too far from the uni for my liking but the regular buses helped to get me to my lectures on time. The room itself was small but with decoration it felt like home pretty quickly! I lived with 21 other people in my block in Salisbury hall so it was never boring, however, although we were catered, the size of the kitchen really was not acceptable for the amount of people who used it. I would also suggest an expansion of the one common room within Salisbury, or the use of the unused space in the middle of the block to create a common room for each block of flats. The common room was filled quickly by other groups from the many other blocks and so there was no real space for everyone to fit in one place, which my flat attempted to do as we all to become close. The Carnatic field was used for this purpose, however, only when the weather improved as we approached summer and the end of the year. The showers could be updated, and maybe multiplied! 4 showers between 22 caused problems at certain points in the morning and evening. I originally wanted to live in Crown but got given Salisbury Hall and I don't regret it one bit. Salisbury really is one of the most sociable places to live, especially as we were surrounded by a number of different halls of residences within Carnatic and ate together in the canteen every day.
