Grand Central

Location of the halls is ideal, being so close to both town centre and the stations Liverpool Central and Liverpool Lime Street. The distance to the Byron’s street campus is relatively short, being a maximum of a 10 minute walk and the Redmonds building being even closer than this. The rooms are quite basic but are acceptable. I had an en-suite room and when i first moved in had some issues with the water pressure and showers. The kitchen equipment is basic but functional with enough storage space. A highlight of these halls is how social they with so many likeminded students all living in the same place.

Location is absolutely perfect right next to lime street station. Also a large accommodation so loads of students in one place. Facilities are basic but that reduces the price given the city centre price increase and therefore makes it more reasonably affordable. Basically it’s make or break depending on who you get put in a flat with but that’s pot luck, I had a great flat but others I knew didn’t get on with theirs. All in all if you’re a sociable person you’ll love it.

Whilst my overall experience wasn't wonderful, it was through no fault of this accommodation. The flats are modern, clean and i imagine i would have had an amazing time if there wasnt such a huge clash in personalities within my flat. Nicknamed 'party central', this place is noisy, but it's first year - you get over it. I ended up living alone because a huge divide between my flatmates, but the staff were very helpful and moved half of us to another more expensive flat for no extra charge - and then another in the new flat turned on me, so i returned to the old flat knowing the other 2 remaining members had moved elsewhere. Staff were lovely - i mark it down on cleaners, you'd have to make sure the flat was spotless before they came..otherwise you'd hear them bad mouthing - i suffered from extreme anxiety my entire first year and this set me off. I also heard multiple people come into my flat without warning - one just came in to use my toilet. I didn't see or speak to them, i just heard them come in. The fire alarm gave me PTSD, its creepy and seemed to not keep the same pitch, and tests for that were going off more than we were warned. And then my flat was surrounded by building sites; kind of interesting at first - almost as interesting as sitting at the window looking out onto Lime Street to people watch (and you saw allsorts at night ...teehee). But as the year progressed the building work a. started earlier than it should (7:30am) and b. It was so loud. Drills and revving engines which the fumes drifted up into my room - my window was broken as well so it was constantly open. But yeah, it had its faults, but a Overall i wonderful place to spend first year as its so social, and you rarely get noise complaints. Had great views too before the building work. The function room was open 24/7 with ping pong and Fifa, theres a Ben & Jerrys ice cream machine!!! What more could you want?! Oh and moving in was a breeze with loads of help. I recommend and i wish anyone who moves there good luck on landing on their feet with the right flat mates. P.s. theres also dough bar - 2 for £5 or £3 cocktails...so good.

Best student accommodation for social life and making friends. Reception are also really nice and helpful! Some of the best memories of my life in there

Grand central, everyone is included such as heating, electric and maintenance. It is based pretty much centre of everything with a short walk to shops. The room size is decent with all furniture provided and en suite

Slap bang next to lime street station which is perfect for going home! Never needed a taxi to uni or into town as it was in minutes walking distance! Always something going on and security were super friendly and helpful! Would 100% recommend especially to first year students

Rooms and kitchen are basic, grand central has decent flats and facilities but is very overpriced for what you get. Great location right in the city centre.

Most sociable halls, would recommend staying here in first year, made so many friends due to the sociable nature of these halls, down side is it could get noisy at times but security deal with that well, nice rooms and kitchen

I really enjoyed my year at grand central. It was so close to shops, clubs and with the train station literally on your doorstep you never had to slug a massive case about when you visited home. The rooms aren't massive but I had an en suite which was really good, the social experience was amazing due to being surrounded by so many other students, Freshers week was like one big party at grand central, I'd recommend this to first years definitely. The only thing I'd complain about is the fire alarm going off at daft times because people can't make toast properly

Great location however VERY noisy. Construction site was right ourside of my window so I have heard nothing but banging for the last 9 months. For those who want to go to flat parties and meet new people it is good, however when you have to be up at 7:30 every morning this accomodation isn’t ideal. Train station opposite is so handy.

Great location, parties everywhere, centre of Liverpool. Everyone is up to party every night and you’ll always be invited to one. Halls range from 4-6 people and you will have an absolute ball living here!!

Location was fantastic! So close to shops / supermarkets / train station and everything you need. I was on the 12th floor of one of the blocks and for over two months the lift was broken - and grand centrals maintenance team was very poor, not fixing it and leaving me and many other students finding it very difficult to leave rooms, get shopping to the room ect. Facilities were good, a lovely kitchen and sitting area and good spaced rooms and en suites. However not very communal as there are that many rooms it becomes too big to know that many people.

The location was amazing, however that is what we were spending the money on. The room was nice but the kitchen was basic and half of the stuff in it broke or was broken when we got there. The social area was never used and lacked an atmosphere. The walls were so thin and so you could here the conversation going on next door as if you were in the same room as them! The maintenance team on the night shift was amazing though, definitely the greatest part of grand central!

Super thin walls so you can hear everything that goes on in the other rooms, sub par kitchen and shower but great view if you're on the top floors- staff are also really friendly. Rooms are small and feel like a prison cell.

Grand Central has a great location within a 5-10 minute walk to uni, shops and clubs. The staff are lovely and helpful, there is always people roaming around and flat parties going on. However, the building works are so loud, you'll never get a lay in Monday-friday. The facilities are great and I love my bedroom and kitchen.

Would recommend to anyone who wanted a place which was sociable and easy to meet new people. They first few weeks were so busy and everyone was friendly. Although this came with a noise level which could be a bit annoying, the general experience was not too bad especially if you were making the noise too. The location, directly in the city centre and next to Liverpool Lime Street Station was perfect for nights out and shopping as well as going back to your home town or having visitors stay. Overall these halls were what you would expect from a university first year experience and I would recommend.

I love the choice of rooms available, the friendly helpful staff, facilities in your room and in the Grand Centeral common room are amazing! I got to choose the most ideal room for me!

Met most of my mates there, couldn’t have asked for a better start to uni, there was always flat parties going on around the different blocks so you could be out every night. Was dead too because the security were dead chill

It does the job, which is all it really needs to do. It has a bed (bit uncomfortable), and that’s all I use it for as I don’t talk much to those in my flat. Very expensive for what it is, but I guess you’re paying for the location, which is right in the middle of everything. Lime street, uni and city centre within view of the building. Overall it’s alright

Location is spot on, 2 minute dander from uni, McDonald's, Aldi and a 24 HR off licence across the street what more does a student need. The social aspect is unreal, grand central has lived up to its party reputation even the security team love it as long as you're sound with them. As long as you don't mind broken doors, mould and stains I don't have any other complaints apart from the cleaners who get paid to rip down any decorations you put up, complain when they have to clean something and magically make things disappear. Overall best experience I've had as long as you don't mind the steep price you'll never get anything else like it.

Grand central is located in a brilliant area, with the train station literally over the road, and amazing views from the top floors.

If you like not sleeping and a bunch of nutcasses then go ahead haha! The people that tend to go here are also likely to drop out within the first year!

Location is literally perfect, 2 mins away from town, clubs, uni, train station and shops with a bar underneath. Facilities are great too with a gym and common area available at any time. And super friendly staff and security

Basic accommodation that's a 10 min walk from the city centre. Uncomfortable furnishings and often need to call maintenance in which soon do the job. They have decent size rooms, including an ensuite (shame there's no double bed)
