Located about a 20 minute walk from uni, the halls are very pretty, room sizes vary depending on whether you are catered or non-catered, my room is very big for a university room which is amazing! I know that a lot of people have encountered problems with the wardens, there is a curfew of 11pm which a lot of people go past and get in trouble but it really depends where you are situated, if you are close to the wardens base then you are more likely to be heard. If you are heard you get your name put down and if it is put down a few times you will be fined.

Devonshire is a beautiful halls of residence located in between the university campus and Headingley (about a 20 minute walk to each and a 45 minute walk from the city centre). It is well connected with bus routes though and there are nice cafes nearby. My room was near to the main building which made for a lovely view thanks to the grass courtyards and flower beds. The rooms are basic but comfortable and fairly spacious in comparison to other halls. The catered food was mediocre and quite carb heavy but there was always an unlimited salad bar with every meal. The meal times were quite limited though so you have to work around them. The noise curfew is earlier at Dev than other halls and the sub-wardens regularly pop in if your flat is being too loud in the evenings. One advantage of this is that rarely gets rowdy if you're trying to get to sleep! Overall Devonshire Hall is one of the more upmarket halls of residence and has lots of character in comparison to some of the more modern halls. I enjoyed my time there!

Worst student hall ever, never met so many staff that hate students. You'd think they'd just find a job at an old people's home.

There are a number of useful facilities including a gym and dance studios at this accommodation however this may be one of the only benefits of living here. Although the gym is very small and maintance of the equipment is poor considering one of the only two treadmills has been out of order for the whole of first semester. The noise curfew of 11 however is nice especially when you have deadlines and in need of sleep however is very strict and could maybe be relaxed on special occasions for example Halloween when it's likely that most students will be celebrating. The accommodation is very basic and old fashioned and I think overpriced for how much students are paying. All flats only consist of a kitchen, which makes it less of a social area. As a result, many students choose to spend more times in the rooms where it's more comfortable which makes flats less socialable. There is a common room in a different building however this room is never used maybe due to it's isolation but could be promoted more as it's facilities are to a high standard but are not being used enough. Would be nice for the kitchens to be refurbished and maybe included a sofa to make it more comfortable. However on a more postitive note the rooms are pretty spacious and have everything you need in there. Another thing to note is the inconsistent level of quality of the flats. The top floor layout is arranged in a way where the rooms are very far away from the kitchen and almost splits the flat into two. This almost separates the students living there and can promote unsocialableness.

Devonshire hall is mixture of people who applied to other accommodations and didn't get their choice. Run by the strictest wardens who destroy any chance of fun by all means

Dev is in a great location, only 20 min walk from uni, pretty sociable but the wardens are annoying they shut down pre drinks every night at 10pm without fail lol the formal dinners are fun too

Good location, not too far to uni and get a good sense of the local area. Really beautiful buildings, feels more like a college than a hall especially with the dining room, formals and independent societies.

Any propective student note this: noise curfew after 11pm. This will take the fun out of any pres, which is worsened by the fact the kitchen for catered flats is located at the very top of the building and lacks any proper space for socialising. Furthermore, catered food is not worth the extra money, as it is very 50/50 you will get something edible. The washing machine facilities are also smaller than at other halls. That being said, the rooms are very big in comparison to places like James Baillie and there's a lot more people in a flat. It may not be in town but the walk to university is decent and being near Headingly and the various pubs there is a bonus.

facilities were basic, there wasn't any communal sitting area which made me and flat mates quite antisocial.

The halls are about a 20 minute walk from campus - I personally liked this, as it gave me space before class to wake up + be with myself as I walked (though it wasn't great when it was raining, or I was late!). My room was really large, and for the price I was not expecting that at all! However, it did feel like everyone in the flat was very separate to each other, because of the layout. In addition to this, our boiler often had troubles, which meant we would often get in the shower and find it was freezing cold - not ideal! We would try to get it fixed but the problem kept recurring. The other downside was that we were the top floor, and there were no lifts - fone most of the time, but awful when moving in/out! Overall very friendly environment though, very social as a collective. There are also gym facilities on site which came in handy!

Walkable distance to the uni and with good vibe. There is a gym, squash court, music room, which I think it’s quite good for sports and music lovers. They also got common rooms and bar where you can hang out with friends. The self-catered rooms are quite big and some with basins.

Devonshire Hall was an incredible experience, combining a great mix of music, social events and sports. The location was ideal in terms of being close enough to be walk into uni but far out enough that you were able to have some quiet during exam periods.

Big bedrooms with big beds as well as good facilities eg gym, bar and snooker room, however small kitchens and full of snobs

Amazing staff! Especially Collin the caretaker. The catering team were fabulous as well! Great facilities including pianos and snooker room and squash court and gym

All the staff are friendly and helpful. Catered food is amazing and the portion is huge. Music facilities are great and gym and sports facilities are available on-site as well. The hall is located in a very nice and green area. The room that I lived in was massive.

A decent distance from the university (20 minute walk). Close to shops/cafes. Wardens are strict have to be quiet for noise. Food is quite nice, not a great variety. The walk up the hill is hard and makes you tired. Rooms are decent size. Sinks in every room which is very handy. Reception are very useful. Gym on site with library room which is handy for exam season as well as dance studio.

Location is good, only a 20 minute walk to campus through Hyde Park. And it is close to Headingley. The facilities at Devonshire are better than any other halls in Leeds. I use the music rooms, gym and squash courts on a regular basis. Plenty of social events such as formals.

Accommodation is too far away from campus and there aren't really any social events, facilities aren't great, noisy boilers

The location of Devonshire is great and it looks very pretty from the outside. The facilities such as the (small) onsite gym and music rooms were another great perk! However, the flats are quite basic on the inside with unattractive rooms and no communal social space apart from the kitchen, I didn't feel I got value for money from the halls. Lots of people also experienced some issues with the wardens (overly zealous about noise even if no complaint was made, intentionally setting off the fire alarm at 10am on a Sunday morning at the end of freshers week to wake everyone up for the photo) but it is great how fast and responsive the staff at Devonshire are when there is a maintenance issue reported, the cleaning staff have also been lovely.

It is a very nice halls of residence in an excellent residential area, ease of access to nearby supermarkets and places to drink, with great fitness and musical equipment and facilities provided/available for no extra cost than the rent.

The location to both university and Headingley makes this place a great spot to start your university experience. It has great musical and sporting facilities and also creates an environment that makes it easy to be sociable.

Really good layout, lots of space in room and flats kitchen. Not many social areas as JCR closes at 11. Good vegetarian options for catered and really enjoying student led choir and music societies and facilities available. Enjoyable formal dinners and socials.

devonshire is great if you like harry potter styled buildings, music, acting, drama. It isnt so great if you like to party because wardens come round and tell you to be quiet and turn your music off all night starting with a warnin at 9. the food is average, people that go there are 1/3 nerds 1/3 normal people 1/3 fun and jokes people who like to go out to the better clubs. my room was absolutely massive woth a sink, which was good because it was a chill room also the kitchen is good so space wise dev is probably the best halls. i like the location cause its inbetween uni and headingly and also right by krispies which is the best kebab ever. if you want a quiet time at uni go to dev
