Morano is a great place for a first year, the social experience is fab with something happening every night. The rooms are pretty spacious and the kitchens well equipped, the down side is the lack of a comfy living room. It’s a 25 min walk to uni but it’s not too bad.

Choosing to stay at murano halls was one of the best decisions I've made at university. I met all of my best friends here and made amazing memories that I will never forget. You will never be able to experience living in a student village after your first year, and I would highly recommend it if you are a social person. I would even recommend it if you are a bit shy and don't like going out all the time, as it is the easier way to make friends and its not all partying. Murano halls are about a 20 minute walk from the uni, which sounds like a lot but you get used to it very quickly and there is a shuttle bus too. I lived in a 12 person flat, which feel a bit cramped at times but at least I never felt lonely. The kitchen and dining area is not large enough for everyone to be cooking in at the same time, so you might have to be strategi c about when you have your dinner. However, overall I had a very positive experience at murano and would recommend it.

The social experience was very good, but my block was horrible, everywhere else had been renovated bar my block yet I still had to pay the same money as everyone else

The location is fine; about 20/25 minutes walk from the uni and a fiver uber to town. Its right next to Ruchill park which has the viewpoint (highest point in Glasgow?) which is really great. The facilites vary hugely on which house your in- some have double beds and renovated kitchens, some have tiny bedrooms and broken showers. My room is one of the smallest and the bed is single but still very manageable. The ovens etc are always broken and living support will be the Bane of your life !! But its fine and definitely worth it for the social life. Everything happens at Murano and if you stay anywhere else you’ll end up coming to Murano all the time anyway. If your not at all interested in parties and stuff then maybe avoid as it can be quite noisey however you’ll adjust to it a lot more easily than you think.

Best halls! Not as overpriced as the other options and always something happening! I made so many friends here, and its not as loud as the reviews say

Location is a bit far from the main university. Social experience is great and worthwhile. Rooms are small but sufficient.

You can’t help but love living in murano. Surrounded by so many different people there’s never nobody to chat to. Despite the not so modern facilities it’s a. Great home and is what you make of it. Such a great laugh and amazing experience for your first year. Highly recommend to anyone looking into staying halls especially over the other halls available.

Great nightlife, lots of parties and plenty of friendly people although flats are very dirty and unwelcoming plenty made up for with atmosphere

The rooms were average, bed desk chair and sink. Fridge space for a 5 person flat was pretty small. Communal showers were quite good.

Night life great but things in flat always breaking and very noisy when you don't go out but I wouldn't have chosen to live in any other halls

Was tidy and new but loud, tiny and too many people in one place. But staff were great and always nice and made sure you would be safe

These halls are the best thing that’s ever happened to anyone who lives here. Everyone loves a big big session. No matter what night of the week it is there are people out and about with flat parties. Everyone is friends with everyone here.

The lack of living room or even couches meant we were lacking social spaces aside from people's rooms or around the kitchen table which was not ideal. The location was within walking distance of the uni and a large tesco but was not the nicest bit of the West end. I loved my room and it was a very social place to live.

Good social life Everything else sucks ass Severely over priced Literally conditions in prisons are better The refurbished halls are lovely, but those rooms are too small

The social scene is brilliant here and the large flats are gréât. But the rooms are pretty small. Some of the flats are up to date but others aren’t which is a little annoying. It’s a half hour walk from uni but it’s great being here

It’s not the worst accommodation but things brake a lot and you’re stuck paying for things other people broke...the heating is also really bad.

Expensive for what it is, but great social aspect - flat parties always going on and not too far from the university, constant maintenance work needed though because of a rushed renovation due to a rat infestation before we moved in.

For social life, Murano is the best by far for Glasgow Uni students. It is really large and so you meet so many new people just by living there. You can chose to live in small flats (around 5 people) or large flats (up to 12 people). I stayed in a large flat and would thoroughly recommend. There are double beds and the kitchens have all been very recently refurbished. There is also a "study zone" that you can use to study in if you can't be bothered to walk to the library but struggle to study in your room. It is quite far away from the city centre, but there are buses literally just outside that take you into town in ten minutes, and taxis aren't all that expensive probably about £5 into town. The west end of Glasgow is so beautiful and about 15-20 minute walk away, where the Uni is situated. The only down fall is there isn't really a living space as such. Some have huge kitchens that double as a sort of living space but we had a tiny wee room with a dining table and chairs. There is no place to chill and really put a tele; I had mine in my room. Also, it does get really messy really quickly, but the large flats get cleaners every week which motivates you to tidy every week as if it is too messy you get a 'warning'

Terrible place to stay, dirty, busy, never quiet, really expensive for what it is. Some people had newly rennovated flats and paid the same price as those with older mouldy flats. Our boiler broke for 3 months over winter and we were repeatedly told that it was fixed when it wasn't. Couldn't shower and were freezing. Only positive part was that it is good for socialising.

Location a lot further away from campus then described. Newly refurbished rooms are nice and comfortable with new mod features. Always lively and the central services team organise lots of social events with free food and snacks every week at least. If you can survive without a ensuite room and a slightly longer walk to campus well worth your money.

Rooms nice however very loud all the time. Social life good and good communal spaces. Quite happy at murano

Good value for money - you pay for what you get and all you need for a student flat is free heating, good WiFi and a decent sized room. Social life in Murano is always busy and lively - caution if you want to get a really good night sleep/productive study day. Overall I loved my flat.
