Exeter is known for being a small town. We have a wide variety of shops when it comes to clothing stores and as a shopaholic I always find the variety I need, we also have a few unique shops down Gandy Street which you can’t find all over the country. The quay is a beautiful part of Exeter and I feel that students don’t go down there enough and stick to the main city without exploring. This is common for freshers but I feel second year students and especially third should try and appreciate the surrounding areas more. The main downside of our city centre is that we only have the smaller versions of shops for example Tesco Express/ Metro, and Sainsbury’s Local for main sources of food, as well as one slightly larger Sainsbury’s in the Guildhall as well as a decent sized Iceland. Further out there’s a massive Morrison’s which is great if you live near mount pleasant. The Lidl and Aldi stores are further out of town but are hardly any distance if you invest in a bike (highly recommend) Theoretically when people see that there is approximately 7 nightclubs they assume that it means it’s not very good. However not the case as it means that most of the nights specific clubs are assigned events and so the clubs are always packed and close at a reasonable time so you can get your cheesy chips and go to bed at a reasonable time so you still half function the next day. It means you never have the risk having an empty nightclub.

A lovely student town with great access to outdoors activities. It has a lot to offer in terms of restaurants, shops and live music/theatre. The seaside is easily accessible via rail.

Although Exeter is a city that can sometimes be very busy with its rush hour traffic and weekend shopping, it's a place which feels like home instantly for a student. It's nice environment and walkable destinations means it's great for getting around and enjoyable to explore the city in all its glory.

Exeter is a quaint city with a diverse range of independent cafes, beautiful gardens, many high street shops to find anything you need. Also it is a student town which means there's a rich night life with many bars and clubs to drink and dance.

Loads of places to eat and good shopping facilities. Nightlife can get repetitive and limited but generally good. Everything is accessible by foot but the major downside is how hilly it is here. A mix of expensive and cheap things to do, but most of it is mid range. 3 spoons as well which is a plus

Exeter is a beautiful city with many things to explore from the cathedral to the underground tunnels. There are many shops available from staple high street brands to quirky independent shops unique to the city and found on the Quay. There are many restaurants a particular student favourite being firehouse where you can get huge pizzas and fruity ciders for a fair price. There are not many clubs in Exeter and there are only three students tend to go to but these are not expensive. In particular in a Thursday you can find a place for £1 entry with drink prices to match and the cheap price isn't a compromise in a good night out. Exeter can be an expensive city, especially to live here. However, if you are smart about price and are willing to walk a little further a field you can find more affordable places.

Fantastic city with lots of eating and drinking options, and a great live music scene. Really close to the beach and the national parks for the outdoorsy!

Exeter overall is a really quiet but safe city. There are multiple clubs to choose from of you're worried abt the night life and selection of food options isnt too bad either, but definitely slightly pricey. My only gripe is that everything here closes a bit early, and you should expect that not very much is open on sundays.

Falmouth is a beautiful little town especially if you love living by the seaside. Everything is relatively close by, town center is only 10 minutes walk from the fal, outgoing campus and the the beautiful beach is only a 2 minute walk. Lots of cozy dining places and cafes to work in. Summers are especially beautiful as you can enjoy the beach straight after a lecture, enjoy a barbecue on the beach and go for a refreshing summer swim, while learning to surf. All a couple steps from your door step

City is very good, I love exeter. It is a small and peaceful city. Atmosphere around the city is very good. Even residents are very good. Students are spread all over the city.

Being a Londoner, I haven't ventured that far out of the M25 vicinity. But I went to university in Exeter and I had a good time. The best is during Summer when we could just pop down to the beach or hit Cornwall or Devon. Absolute beauty.

Positives of Exeter - Great pubs, cafes, shopping - Pretty surrounding area, great if you like cycling/climbing etc. - Proximity to the coast - Proximity to other cities - Bristol, Bath, Plymouth Negatives - Majority of nights out guaranteed to be as bad as a night out in your home town - Expensive in most respects - housing, food on campus

Such a pretty place to be. The shopping is great and the student night life couldn't be better. Ever since seeing Exeter I've loved it and the local people are great. Eating out is always nice and pleasurable with a wide variety that is great value for money.

Really awesome city which has all the amenities you could want within easy walking distance along most of the high street! Though if you're looking to get away from the city and relax then Exeter quay, exmouth and Dartmoor are all within easy access as well!

There are lots of things to do shopping, bars and clubs. It is also really close to the coast so it’s quick to jump on a train and go the beach. Also a quay to kayak on the river exe and do pub stops along the way!

Being in the South West of England the weather in Exeter is quite often stunning. With beaches approximately 15 minutes away you can escape to catch some rays which is what most students do. Also, the train stations are connected nationally to London and the north which is ideal for those big late nights out in Bristol! The city has every shop you could need as well as a range of charity and independent shops. Prices are standard of the south but make sure to make use of student nights!

Lovely city with even better surroundings. Limited number of clubs and pubs make it the perfect Uni location for a year. If you love the outdoors, it's a perfect spot to explore national parks, coast lines and the odd trip to Cornwall. It's getting quite expensive and you can feel that some places are rather pretentious, immitating London. But overall, a lot of flair!

When I first started at Exeter I was very sceptical because I knew it was a smaller city compared to the big universities like Manchester or Birmingham but when I got there I was pleasantly surprised. The nightlife isn't as good as the bigger cities but you soon realise that it doesn't matter how big the clubs are but the social you are on or the people you are with. Also Exeter is very small on the student side so you can literally walk to anywhere in the city whether it be the shops or a secluded park you can get anywhere for free and in under an hour

The night out in Exeter is definitely affordable and cheap especially for university students who are on a tight budget. I think that apart from the night light what sets Exeter apart from other universités Is the warm town centre which has a large shopping mall and the oppurtunity to visit various restaurants meaning you’ll never get bored of eating! Most definitely the fact that the beach is a short 20 minute train journey definitely makes Exeter amazing as on sunny days like this, beach vibes are unmissable.
