Not too big not too small- the Goldilocks city! Everything is walkable but I wouldn’t reccomend for those looking for big night life!

Exeter is known for being a small town. We have a wide variety of shops when it comes to clothing stores and as a shopaholic I always find the variety I need, we also have a few unique shops down Gandy Street which you can’t find all over the country. The quay is a beautiful part of Exeter and I feel that students don’t go down there enough and stick to the main city without exploring. This is common for freshers but I feel second year students and especially third should try and appreciate the surrounding areas more. The main downside of our city centre is that we only have the smaller versions of shops for example Tesco Express/ Metro, and Sainsbury’s Local for main sources of food, as well as one slightly larger Sainsbury’s in the Guildhall as well as a decent sized Iceland. Further out there’s a massive Morrison’s which is great if you live near mount pleasant. The Lidl and Aldi stores are further out of town but are hardly any distance if you invest in a bike (highly recommend) Theoretically when people see that there is approximately 7 nightclubs they assume that it means it’s not very good. However not the case as it means that most of the nights specific clubs are assigned events and so the clubs are always packed and close at a reasonable time so you can get your cheesy chips and go to bed at a reasonable time so you still half function the next day. It means you never have the risk having an empty nightclub.

Excellent shopping overall for the south west, a cringe nightclub scene and perhaps the best university in the world. What more could you possibly want?

Exeter is a beautiful city with many green spaces and good places to eat. The main city is small enough to walk everywhere, but big enough to have lots of activities and events taking place. Once you have lived there for a while, you constantly see people you know walking through the streets!

Exeter is the perfect university town. Going out is very easy going, no need to dress to impress, but very fun. Good variety of food available, and decent quality for price but lacks more local restaurant options (most are chains)

Exeter is a really good area that is somewhere in between with the comforts of a small city but also the luxuries of a big city, especially with shopping on High Street. With three rail stations, it's easy to go to and from places, especially when the walk to each one isn't very far. Very nice place, and the university is great.

Its a pretty nice town which has a variety of cuicines (compared to how small it is) and lots of cute bars. There are only around eight clubs (Phoenix, Unit 1, Timepiece, Lemmys, Rosies, Fever, etc) but the best ones are Unit 1 (on fridays) and Timepiece (on tuedays)

Always new restaurants popping up. They just need a Victoria Secret and they’ll have pretty much every shop you could ever want. There has recently been a LOT of student accommodation being built and from what i can see of it, it looks very nice! City itself feels very safe and is always clean and well presented

Exeter; a small city (has a cathedral) in Devon, packed with everything you'll need. From houses, to shops, to schools, anything you desire is withinwalking distance. Exeter city, although small, has its share of fun. However, it is limited in terms of adventure and high class shopping. With John Lewis being Exeter's largest shopping mall found on the high street. With an indoor climbing gym near the quay, along with a few bars and restaurants, a weekend trip to the river is a sure way to spend a sunny day. The many clubs littered around Exeter city center will keep nights lively for students and adults keen on partying. Transport available include busses, and taxis. Although accessable, they are a bit more pricey when considering everything is in walking distance.

Beautiful city, many shops and restaurants, nights out are okay but not many places open overly late.

Exeter is a very small city so it's easy to quickly learn your way around but there's not much to do and it has very average nights out. It partially makes up for this by being pretty though and feels very safe to walk around in.

Exeter is a great little city with loads going on and great beaches nearby. Summer is a great time with loads of cafes and bars to hang out in.

Exeter is a vibrant city and major tourist spot as well. One can find enough activities to take up to enjoy the beautiful countryside. Be it rafting at the quay, enjoying a bike ride along the river or a quick snack overlooking the river side, there is something to appeal to all age groups. The city centre has a range of shopping outlets with some major brands as well although it could be better. There are several food outlets serving breakfast until dinner and dedicated dessert parlours to satisfy the sweet tooth. The transport here isn't great. Cabs are limited to one service alone and are expensive and the public buses are never on time. In terms of value for money, Exeter is slightly expensive in terms of general expenses. Other than that the city is pretty safe but then again one's safety is their own responsibility. The major population is made up of students from the University and Exeter college and the others include a small percentage of middle aged working group and a significant number of retired folks. As such the country side is beautiful and scenic.

Exeter really does have everything - lovely quayside walks and boating opportunities, a vibrant nightlife, great places to eat, and all the shops you could ever want to visit.

A lovely student town with great access to outdoors activities. It has a lot to offer in terms of restaurants, shops and live music/theatre. The seaside is easily accessible via rail.

Although Exeter is a city that can sometimes be very busy with its rush hour traffic and weekend shopping, it's a place which feels like home instantly for a student. It's nice environment and walkable destinations means it's great for getting around and enjoyable to explore the city in all its glory.

Exeter is a quaint city with a diverse range of independent cafes, beautiful gardens, many high street shops to find anything you need. Also it is a student town which means there's a rich night life with many bars and clubs to drink and dance.

Exeter City is a city full of activities and shops. It definitely feels like a student town and there's always things to do with friends. Food can often be too expensive to afford as a student so eating out is less common. The transport is fairly good, although too often pricey. Apple taxis are very efficient and always friendly and a great service to use on nights out. Nights out are always fun, and there are loads of great students deals on certain nights.

Small city that feels more like a big friendly town. Most attractions in walking distance. Very safe during the day and night, huge student presence. Vast array of restaurants, bars and clubs. Not many green spaces is only downfall. Don't know about public transport as never needed it but have heard it's reliable and cheap.

Loads of places to eat and good shopping facilities. Nightlife can get repetitive and limited but generally good. Everything is accessible by foot but the major downside is how hilly it is here. A mix of expensive and cheap things to do, but most of it is mid range. 3 spoons as well which is a plus
