The 'inspiring capital' of Edinburgh has all the amenities of a cosmopolitan capital city. It is the city of story tellers and ghost tours thanks to the underground vaults that lurk beneath towering tenements. It is undoubtedly an absolutely wonderful place to live with a calendar jam packed with events and festivities. The compact size of Edinburgh with all its cobbled streets a maze of wynds and closes means that getting around this beautifully architectural city means that many people can walk, cycle or catch a short bus to work rather than having long commutes. The main part of the city is made up of two halves; The Old Town and New Town both with a real distinctive character and atmosphere. The best thing about Edinburgh is the incomparable location due to the countryside being a stone’s throw away and the Highlands only a short drive away.

Edinburgh is favourite, being at uni here is like a home away from home. The history, the Royal Mile, the world-class University, friendly people, endless events and things to do - need I say more? Just come and visit and make up your own decision, but be warned you might not want to leave.

Its the best capital city in the uk! New Town has every shop you could dream of, and the clothing brands cater for every budget. There is always some exhibition happening at one of the many art galaries, and things to do only increase at christmas and in august. So much cheaper than London, and youre spoilt for choice for clubs - especially in Cowgate. Only 4/5 for transport because i still don't understand how the trams work. Buses and of course Waverley station work very smoothly.

Student life is great, lively and there’s always things happening. More expensive than other student towns but you have the benefit of being in the city centre.

Beautiful city. Full of life especially during summer, extraordinarily vibrant during the Christmas period. Night outs are also incredible, try clubs like Lulu's, Why not and Opal. The shopping experience will leave you coming back for more especially when there are sales all over ! They go all out.

It is a great city for nights out, every night there is a night to go too. There is lots going on it is never quiet. The is so many restaurants and things to keep you busy. Princess street is especially good for shopping as it George street. It is so nice having everything you need in one place

Plenty of things to do and lovely atmospheric city. Would recommend visiting the castle, camera obscura, the dungeons. Visited during the Christmas period and had a lovely time at the Christmas markets. Lots of places for food that are reasonably priced.

There's always something going on in Edinburgh; live music, ethical markets, yoga tasters, language cafes, vegan cooking classes, pub quizzes, spiritual healing... I could go on. Its the perfect place to let your hippie ethical vegan flag fly.

Nights out are very diverse overall, but I've personally found a lack of Hip-hop/RnB club nights. Food availability is very good but take-away closing hours usually don't exceed 3am, which is inconvenient after a night out. Shopping is very accessible - new town for mainstream places and old town for quirky finds like vintage and charity shops. Quite a few various things to do - hike up several hills, different art galleries and pubs to go to. Value for money is generally good considering UK prices, much cheaper than other major cities like London.

Edinburgh is a great city to live in, especially as a student. It's easy to walk most everywhere and the buses are easy to use. There is so much to do, there are great (free!) museums, so many good restaurants and bars, and lots of nice outdoor space like Arthur's seat and Holyrood Park, the Meadows, and the Royal Botanic Gardens. Edinburgh always feels super safe too, and people are generally very friendly. It's an easy spot to take day trips or weekend trips to other places around Scotland too, as the trains are pretty fast and cheap. Overall great city to live in!

Great city for student life, whilst accommodation can be a bit more on the pricey side, you can find some great bars and restaurants at reasonable prices. Lived there for 4 years and loved every minute of it

Fantastic city, very nice, is like a town because the old town is like that, a los of amazin buildings, and monuments, and now in christmas is prettier!!!! A lotver of options to eatpues food of all the world, a lot of party in the city centre with a lot of pubs and discos, and some discos with rrggaeton. Is notlo a cheap city, but if you go a few meters to the centre you can, save money in your meals and dinners

Edinburgh is a beautiful city. Despite being a small city, it provides everything you would expect from city living. It's small size also means that access around the city is easy and this is supplemented by its great transport links.

Best city I have been to in United Kingdom. So calm and peaceful. A number of things to do there at a tourist point of view. Had my first ever afternoon tea there and still cherish every moment of the city. Best thing was the city is so accessible from one part to the other.

Edinburgh has a very good night life, along with a huge variation of restaurants and food. Shopping options are also massively varied with the high street having every shop imaginable but due to the fact it's the capital, it is a rather expensive place to shop.

Beautiful city with great things to do. The architecture is lovely. Amazing shops, especially in the center of town, and good food. The gallery is gorgeous and the princes street gardens are a great place to relax. Some places are a bit overpriced but you can find cheaper places. The public transport (buses) are well maintained and fairly cheap. Some of my favourite shops - great range of books. For example, my favourite bookshop (The Lighthouse on West Nicolson Street) has so many amazing events with great guests and a huge selection of specialised books. The festival is also a great time of year - so many events of all kinds and a lively atmosphere. Although at this time of year, it gets especially busy and can be difficult. At Christmas, the city is also especially beautiful - the German market is a must and the Christmas lights make the city look wonderful.

Edinburgh is a beautiful city, with loads to see and do! There is a great bus network which can get you anywhere in the city easily and cheaply.

Edinburgh is a great city with loads to see and do. There are lots of places to eat, with a wide range of vegetarian and vegan restaurants spread out across the city. There is a good shopping scene. Also, nights out are too expensive and food places are not open once the clubs are closed.

Great city for students as there's lots of pubs, bars and clubs which suit a variety of tastes. Most of them are also reasonably priced for students or have student nights. Some pubs even offer student discount. Many different restaurants throughout the city so can easily find a place to eat to suit everyone, although some places can be slightly more expensive which is to be expected in the city centre. Lots of things to see and do, such as the castle, markets and Harry Potter related shops and tours. If you're quite active then climbing Arthur's Seat is also a rewarding thing to do as it gives lovely views of the city. Prince's Street is great for shopping, but there are also some nice vintage shops scattered about Edinburgh such as in Grassmarket. Transport throughout the city can be busy but overall is fine, with options of the bus or tram, and there are plenty of night buses to all the universities after a night out. Needing the exact change for the bus can be annoying but there is an app you can download instead which makes things easier. Lots of theatres, as well as cinemas and bowling in the city which is good for entertainment. The Fringe Festival is also a must but obviously can get very busy. Overall Edinburgh is a great place to live and I would highly recommend it.

So many options for going out for food and drinks. I especially love TGI fridays and five guys because their burgers are amazing quality and such a good price!
