Edinburgh is a fantastic place to go to university, full of opportunity for your studies and personal life! The university buildings are mainly in the centre town so they're nearby great cafes, restaurant, study spaces and transport links. Nights out are always exciting, it's so lively here at night, especially on campus. Down in Cowgate with so many clubs there's never a lack of choice.

Edinburgh is a stunning capital city, full of attractions, diversity and culture. It provides a nightlife for all preferences, whether you like 80s, metal, House, chart, cocktails, clubs, bars or pubs. Transport is excellent, regular and affordable as long as you get a ridacard. Bus links are all over the city. The main downside to Edinburgh is that it is very expensive. The standard going rate for a pint is around £5 and student accommodation isn't the cheapest either.

Loads of clubs, pubs, bars, restruants but even though a busy city with lots, there’s still lots of green and pretty views like Arthur’s seat and the Pentlands! However bit expensive for drinks and food

Edinburgh is a beautiful city, with historic buildings and plenty of activities to do about the town. The only problem is the cost of living here!

Beautiful town, and great transport links, especially buses. Although there are plenty of shops on Princes St, it is usually too busy and and can be stressful. Very expensive city to live in, and finding a flat as a student is often a total nightmare. Good choice in terms of eating out though.

I arrived at Edinburgh University early in August of 2016 for my first year. I came a month early with anticipation to envelop myself in the Fringe, when performance and dramatic arts of all sorts carpets the streets and infiltrates nearly all buildings. The exhilaration and overload of cultural events diddnt leave after the fringe and now in my third year Edinburgh continues to delight me with the plentitude of events stretching out through the week. Not only is there an energy diffusing through the streets at all times but now in third year I still don’t get suprised about the beauty that is Edinburgh city. Walking to university one is constantly centred by the grand castle which evokes a sense that you are in a historically powerful city. If that isn’t enough, as you walk through the winding hilly streets you can always see the sea and the towering ‘Arthur’s seat’ that is a must to climb up as soon as you get there. Once you reach the top it makes you feel as if your in heaven looking down on another heaven. Despite it being cold, there are so many cosy cafes and restaurants all around university that you can spend all day in, working and chatting to all the friendly staff. Shopping, nights out and the people you meet during your time here are just other elements that make Edinburgh one of the most beautiful, vivid and exciting places to live as a student.

Edinburgh is quite a small city which makes it so great. It's very easy to walk everywhere even in bad weather, meaning taxi rides to the club's aren't expensive and you are never too far from home. There are good shops in Princes Street but Edinburgh doesn't have a shopping mall unless you want to travel for ages.

nights out are fun, there's so much good food wherever you go, and there's shopping throughout the city. the whole place is absolutely beautiful, extremely walkable but with decent public transportation, and i love living here. niggest downside is that it's quite expensive.

Edinburgh is such a cool city, sort of like a mini London with loads of things to do. I like it because it isn't too big and everything is within walking distance - also saves money on transport !! During the summer they also have the fringe theatre festival which makes it a pretty cool location if you're into theatre as well because there are thousands of performances on during this time. I love Edinburgh and think it's a fun and also quite an international city. The only thing is that it's very far north and Travelling anywhere else in England isn't always super convenient.

Edinburgh is a truly beautiful city. I came here from Wales to study at Edinburgh University in 2015 and can honestly say I am so happy with my decision. The architecture and everyday surroundings are stunning and people in the city are so friendly. I had not done much research before coming, however I was so pleased to find that Edinburgh provides so much to do as a student. There are lots of options for nightlife, many various cool quirky and high end bars but also some lovely decently priced student pubs/bars too. There are numerous clubs, such as Bourbon, Why Not and Opal. They are not too big but I enjoy that kind of club more than overwhelmingly big club dance floors but that’s personal preference. The shopping is mainly outdoors on Princes St, a central area overlooking Pronces St Gardens (so pretty in Summer). It is a buzzing city with plenty for locals and tourists to do including camera obscura and ghost tours around the city. I love that there is always something going on, even in Summer I like to come back as the Fringe Festival in August transforms the city into a month long party! The reason I left one star is that personally I have found rent to be quite pricey, ranging from around £450 upwards per month, £400 if lucky. Living costs are like most other cities, it just depends where you like to eat, shop or go out but generally price wise it is normal unless you tend to go to the higher end parts such as George St etc.Transport is great with good bus routes and WiFi on all edinburgh buses, and as I fly home I personally love the tram directly to the airport even though this is a controversial opinion haha. All in all I would highly recommend coming here to study or even visit. Will be living here at some point after Uni I am sure.

Great city, nearest city to my home and so have visited the city a lot. However, moving to Edinburgh was a completely different experience having everything in walking distance. All the shops were just what I needed and the botanic gardens, arthur seat and even the seaside just made me love the city even more

Edinburgh has very good public transport and is also good for a night out, however can be a little pricey. The city centre is great for shopping and places to eat and there’s loads to do in and around the centre.

Nights out are not good, think there should me more entertainment at nights in edinburgh, the shopping is great but I think the grocery shops should be bigger and more places than Asda should be 24/7

Edinburgh is a beautiful city full of culture. You're never short of a place to eat or a bar to drink. Every year in August they have their fringe comedy festival which attracts tourists from all around the globe.

Edinburgh is a great city for students and young professionals alike. An independent coffee shop on every street, amazing food from all over the world, incredible night life and everything is at less than 1h away. Definitely recommend Edinburgh, a city filled with history and a strong personality.

Perfect student city. Plenty of nights out can be had and every time a different experience. Loads of student deals available for activities and food.

Edinburgh is Scotland's compact, hilly capital. It has a medieval Old Town and elegant Georgian New Town with gardens and neoclassical buildings. Looming over the city is Edinburgh Castle, home to Scotland’s crown jewels and the Stone of Destiny, used in the coronation of Scottish rulers. Arthur’s Seat is an imposing peak in Holyrood Park with sweeping views, and Calton Hill is topped with monuments and memorials.

I lived in Leith last year. It was a bit of a trek to get to the uni but I think it was worth it. Leith feels like a different city where people actually care about each other instead of just passing you by in a hurry

Lovely area! Such pretty views and the nightlife is fab! Several places to shop such as princes/George street- fort kinnaird and the gyle! Also benefits from various bars/restaurants which are great for socialising!! Overall great student experience!

This university is only a 6 minute train journey to Edinburgh city centre which is great for shopping, events and nights out. However, the town that this university is a half an hour walk, very limited shops and definitely not any good for a night out. There are nice walks in close distance but again, the transport isn't great with trains only running hourly in the evenings. The buses run often and are brilliant during the day but are just very slow

Beautiful city! Some absolutely class nights out can be had in Edinburgh. There is always something happening in the city center and some hidden gems interms of bars and restaurants.

Good night out at why not and a great cheap night out in hive for the full student experience. Lots of things to do: shopping on Princes street, museums, National history. Can be very expensive in some places but the student unions are great value for money for a night out

Lots of different themed nights to suit everyone. And who doesn’t love £1 drinks!! The busses are a god send! And the night bus has saved me a fortune on getting home after a mad night out.
