Shaftesbury Hall

Overall experience in halls last year was amazing! I was very lucky with the flatmates I was paired with, throughout the week we would have movie nights, cook together, pre drinks once a week, pull pranks on each other and do secret Santa at Christmas. The large kitchen table was a very useful piece of furniture to have which I lack in my student house! Occasionally kitchen equipment would break and my shower would flood but these were promptly fixed once reported. Plenty of storage in the room for my excess of art equipment. The only few issues we had was the lack of a lift in the building; we lived on the top floor which meant climbing three flights of stairs whilst carrying food shopping was a bit of an ordeal. The decor (ie. carpet and kitchen cupboards) wasn't exactly pretty but this is understandable to keep rent lower. A gas job to an electric one would have been preferred by the whole flat but again this is understandable due to safety issues. Finally, the only real issue we had was some dispute with the cleaners but after some emails all was fine. As a native of Gloucester I considered staying at home and commuting to lectures to save money but I'm very glad I didn't!

Very close to the uni, town and food shops. It made making friends a lot easier because there was a lot of people around all the time. It made getting to lectures very easy because it was right on the door step! Always cleaned by cleaners and having your own bathroom was amazing!

Really good on campus location, all rooms are spacious with huge desks and on-suites. The security are friendly and available 24/7 if you need help with anything. The halls are big but not massive, therefore good for makes friends and socialising.

Location is good however the halls feel like a travelodge, not a home. Had lots of issues with my room reguarding bathroom leaks so made the uni experience more difficult

The rooms are alot bigger than they look/ you would expect. Its actually a pretty good price for it all and the kitchen is fairly big. Its close to the uni (on campus) and the town centre (10 minute walk)

My halls are right on campus, this is very handy as it only takes around a minute or two to get to my lectures. It is also about 5 mins away from the main town centre, full of places to eat and things to do such as watch a film, bowling and crazy golf. My room is amazing and I love every aspect, however the shower size can be problematic as a lot of water gets in the floor and practically floods the bathroom. Also, the WiFi (which most universities use) does not connect to my laptop, making it very hard to do work at times.
