Very social and a great way to meet people! But there are a lot of silverfish around. Found them constantly throughout the year, you just learnt to live with them.

Definitely the most sociable Cardiff accommodation. Close to most of the university buildings and only a 10 minute walk from the Student Union. The showers aren’t great as the bathroom is more of a wet room and the bedrooms are quite small but perfect for first year accommodation. Flats vary from 4 - 8 people.

it is extremely sociable here. There is always something fun going on/people to spend time with. However, it can get a bit noisy due to the layout of the halls. House 25/26/27 sit next to a communal courtyard which gets very noisy at night. The rooms are small but well designed and have everything you need.

Close to two food shops, easy 20 minute walk to the university and 30 minutes into the town centre. The halls themselves are basic but comfortable. Due to the large numbers of houses, there is often a lot of noise especially on big club nights. Maintenance were good at helping to solve and house keeping problems.

It's nice to live in Talybont with so many other students. The atmosphere in Talybont South is very social. The rooms seem very small but are nice enough, the bathroom is like a wet room which can get annoying but again it's okay. The kitchen is basic but I have no complaints.

Great halls for a social life. Lots of parties etc. Cleaner once a week. Quite a long walk to lectures and town. Good heating

Talybont is definitely the most sociable hall of residence to stay at in first year. It's so big so you are bound to make friends staying in your halls, perfect for when walking home from a night out as you'll definitely have someone to walk back with. I personally loved Talybont South, definitely the best one out of all the taly halls as it's great for its price and not too far from town like Gate or North. I lived in a flat of all girls and we really got along, loved how big the kitchen is and the fact that we had a dining table which Court does not have. The rooms are quite small but to be honest I didn't feel like I needed more space, everything I needed fit in it. The bathroom is more like a shower room so you need to be a bit cautious with mould growing in the tile's cracks. I didn't really see that many silverfish so was quite happy about it, they're really not that bad.

Taly south was my second option but I'm so glad I ended up there. You're constantly around other students so never feel lonely and can always hear music coming from somewhere

The social experience is amazing at taly south! Definitely the best accommodation in Cardiff university for the atmosphere and night life. The halls are in much better condition compared to taly north and we have been blessed with an amazing cleaner - shout out to Sue.

I lived in Talybont South. Rooms all had an en-suite with a desk, single bed and cupboards. The room was a fairly small rectangular shape. Socialising was excellent here with lots of interaction. Location was 15 mins to the main university buildings and 25 mins to town.

Far away from town and not enough social areas which made socialising quite restricted. But ensuite quite nice and kitchen big enough.

When staying in taly south, you're never too far from someone to walk home with. Taly south really is the social accommodation and it's always easy to find friends. Other than it's infestation of silver fish and it's lack of communal facilities ie sofas, taly south is what you make of it.

Living at halls was an experience and a half, it's filled with great experiences and not so great experiences. Yes! The rooms can be tiny however, it was a great way to meet people at uni and make some great friendships that might last a very long time. Also, talybont south was an en-suite accommodation and for me that was definitely a plus. It's about a 20-30 mins walk to town (this depends on how fast you walk) and just about 10mins away is a massive Tesco (for all your grocery needs), KFC & Macdonalds (if you cut through talybont north & court) and trust me that 24/7 macdonalds service was a life saver especially after a night out. All in all many memories where made at taly south and I say give it a shot (especially for that macdonalds benefit.‰)

Rooms are very small, although quite cute, very very lively, constant partying every night, can be a good and a bad thing. My house is very close to the train tracks so often get the noise from the trains, even in the early hours but otherwise, I wouldn't pick a different accommodation

Location is really good, walkable distance from heath and Cathays. All the sports facilities are really close by aswell. It's a really social halls and you're so near the other taly residences so it's easy to get to know people .

Location is a 10/20 minute walk from lectures, the gym is not brilliant so I went to an alternative one this is definitely what I would improve, my house and the whole place is very sociable right since the first day I arrived. My room and bathroom are great lots of shelf space and wardrobe space. Kitchen is nice and big - also has lots of cupboard space however we could do with a bigger fridge.

Room sizes are quite small, in the winter it’s freezing radiators never come on but when it’s hot they come on? Silverfish infestation everywhere. Bathrooms are gross wetrooms which just flood everywhere and Make everything smell damp.

Rooms are a little cramped and the wet rooms are very hard to clean so get very dirty. Silverfish everywhere when the weather gets a bit warmer and the heating never comes on when you want it to.

The halls are a good distance from university and town and are great for socialising. The WiFi can be patchy depending on where your room is.

A good halls if you are ready for a party, but maybe not if you are ready for flooded bathrooms and a silverfish attack. Super expensive but worth it for your first year uni experience, you’ll enjoy it but be ready to escape by the end. And don’t you dare loose your key card, a £10 lockout fee and a £10 replacement, if you are clumsy you’ll be down £200 a year just from purchasing pieces of plastic.

Location of the infamous taly south was ideal! Short walk into town and uni. There’s a tesco, a subway and a pub less than 3 mins walk away. Facilities are fine, you get an ensuite and there are laundry facilities on site too, even though the app for that is terrible! Socially, taly south is known for being the best- and it was! You knew there was a party on somewhere every night! My room was on the ground floor, but surprisingly not as noisy as you’d think! The only issue is that you do share your room with the odd silverfish!

Reasonable sized room and en suite which was a very good size. My halls were much better and bigger than Talybont North and were at a good price compared to th very expensive Talybont gate and Court. The location was a 25 minuet walk from town for me which was fine but others weren’t as keen. Good social aspects with wveryon becoming friends in the house and lots of local parties and events

Walkable distance to everything you’ll need in cardiff. Most popular and social halls at Cardiff. All rooms have ensuits. Talybont social centre available for chilling/living area. I live in a refurbished house which is very good, however some are still due an upgrade so are a bit more gloomy. WiFi is eduroam and I have no problems with it.

Talybont South is a classic first year uni experience. It’s own bubble and social hub with both a party and friendly atmosphere.
