A Caravan themed en suite and the close proximity to Tesco and Maccies, are only things keeping Talybont north from being a 1 star accomodation. Unless you love asbestos in the walls, you may find your stay in talybont north rather awful. A million miles from uni and town, about as much social space as a prison, and windows that don’t stop the breeze coming through.

Talybont South is the best Cardiff Uni Halls. Talk North is smaller and grotty. Kitchens are very small so difficult to socialise, have pres etc. WiFi doesn’t work well but this is the same across most halls. Pretty far from town but doable walking distance.

Size of room and kitchen are good the room is cosy and decorated nicely with good storage and a big desk. However the heating has not worked properly since we started in September and has not come on at all since being back for Christmas. Hot water is unreliable but other than that my halls experience has been very pleasant and would recommend to any upcoming fresher.

Some blocks are not refurbished, the rooms are quite small and can be noisy at night although less noisy that Talybont south. Bathroom is more of a wet room but didn't mind that too much. Quite a walk from main campus and even further to town. Large tesco very close.

Talybont north was a great accommodation to stay in. It was close to big Tesco and not too far from uni so it was in a great location. I had an ensuite and the facilities were very good. When talybont social had a bar it was a great place to go to hang out with friends

Halls are really good, the rooms are cosy to start of with but once you get used to them then it's a really nice place to live. People are sometimes noisy upstairs but that's expected in uni

Location is a 30min walk away from uni, which for me was nit a hassle as ir woke me up before going to lectures. Only 5 mins away from a bige 24/6 Tesco, which was a lifesaver in my 1st year. I loved my room and flat, people in my house were lovely too. Though the space every individual got might have been small (tiny) we still had our own space and own bathroom (bathcloset more like but still). Taly social was right beside us, therefore it was a convenient location to meet up with my friends, and one of the main exam halls is in Taly too, therefore it spared me a lot of stress regarding how to get to my exams.

For the sporty people Talybont North has the perfect facilities with the Sport Centre right on your doorstep. The University and the clubs are at least a 20 minute walk however. I would say that flats bond really nicely so there's a plus.

Really homely but quite old buildings. Social experience was fab, everyone friendly and nice proximity to amenities such as big Tesco. Really fun experience and would recommend to most people. Fair price compared to other halls in Cardiff aswell.

Decent rooms, but old fashioned, decent location, though the downside is my perfect boyfriend isn’t here to spend every second by my side.

Lots of steps. Nightmare to get shopping in as I was on the top floor. Small rooms and cleaners don’t clean unless the kitchen is clean. Be careful of fines.

Good location situated with all the other students so gives a nice laid back feel. Nice sized room with ensuite so no sharing bathrooms. However, can be noisy when people are walking past returning from nights out. Additionally some of the water heaters are old so break down frequently.

The room and bathroom very small, far from the uni but the house was big so met a lot of people and the kitchen was redeveloped and modern. Overall nice, but too small.

There is a great atmosphere in Talybont as you are surrounded by lots of like minded students. Although the halls is located quite far from the actual university campus there is a student bar and a gym located on the accommodation grounds. The room wasn't bad but the shower was a plastic cubicle placed in the room and with relatively poor circulation the room could get quite humid. Additionally there wasn't really any room to hang your clothes to dry if you preferred that to machine drying them. Do not go and live on Talybont if you want to have quiet nights in because that does not exist.

It's a really good location, perfect for food shopping and it's not too long a walk to the University. The rooms are amazing and the people are fantastic. The social experience is brilliant because there are pubs and places to eat out within walking distance.

- Good location: 5 minute walk to Tesco Extra and McDonalds, and around 20 minutes to Cathays Campus. Not as close to the city centre as other accommodations like Senghennydd, Colum Hall and Aberconway however. - Fairly good social experience. Everyone is friendly, and many flats will hold pres in the evenings. This does mean it is often noisy - but this is to be expected in student residences. - I chose a medium-sized room, as it is more affordable than the standard size and is still comfortable provided you don't let it get too messy. - The kitchen in Houses A-R are quite small, which can make it difficult when multiple people want to cook at the same time. Overall am happy with the Halls.

Such a great atmosphere in taly. Depending on which size room you get, you can be squished or quite spacious. I personally had one of the small rooms, and although it was terribly squashed, I wouldn't change it for the world. The flatmates you have are firm friends for life, and there is always something going on in Taly. There are also some lovely outside areas, including the courtyard and a number of spaces for sporting activites. With the gym on site and a large supermarket and fast food chains right next door, I will always treasure my time spent in these halls.

excellent facilities including football pitch, onsite gym and pub. Nearby Tesco for food shopping. Talybont north is one of many complexes on the site. each flat is of 6, with all having ensuite facilities

Small room and average sized kitchen but you learn to love it eventually. Great social life in Italy, get to meet lots of new people because you're living so close. Can be noisy at times but overall really enjoyed.

A little far from the Uni however the halls themselves were decent with reasonable wetroom style en-suites, It’s very easy to make friends with the rest of the people in your building - I still live with the people I met in my Taly north house and will do next year as well! The kitchen as a cooking space is good however not so much as a communal space with the table taking up most of the room next to the fridges. We did have several issues with eduroam WiFi not stretching across our flat.
