Even though could hear everyone around you (including those in other houses) and having the fire alarm go off nearly every night, it was ideally located and I got along with all my flatmates.

Bathroom en-suite very small, shower needs to be separate No social space for flat or floor because kitchen is quite narrow Good amount of people for socialising Good to be near Tesco extra and sports facilities

Very good location. Room size is ok, not a lot of storage in the room however. Social experience is not very good compared to taly south but it could be worse.

Bathrooms are way too small and beds are smaller than a single. Nice people and ok location however not extremely social.

All three stars for the people met and the good times experience, zero stars for the actual accommodation. Room was absolutely tiny and outdated, the en suite bathroom resembled a tiny caravan wet room. The kitchen was spider infested. The cleaner refused to clean half the time and thoroughly enjoyed fining the flat.

Very loud! Always had the smell of weed in my room. Shower water pressure was bad, kitchen space very small - couldn’t even fit all of us round the table. Great location for split main/heath campus courses

Good value for money and good location being close to big Tesco but quite a walk to uni. A basic room but good ensuite and did the job for the money: good storage and desk space. However temperature regulation not good - very hot all the time (especially in summer). Overall enjoyed my experience there.

The room was very beige and the kitchen was old and worn , however it was being redone the year after. All in all it was ok for the price and had an ensuite which was a bonus

Talybont North has a buzzing social vibe to the accommodation. Located closest to the McDonalds and Tesco shop, talybont north makes the weekly shop less of a trek than living in court or south (every little helps). The facilities are basic, and the kitchen space is limited for the number of occupants per flat. However, the rooms provide just the right amount of space and storage capacity for me to go about my daily life. Apart from the regular seagull alarm at night, taly north is a very decent place to live for first year.

Talybont North is fairly basic student accommodation. Some of the houses have smaller flats than others but have been ‘refurbished’. The only social space in a flat is the kitchen with a table and chairs; no sofa or lounge area which isn’t great if you have dirty flatmates! Rooms are an ok size for halls, and are a bit nicer if you get one of the standard size rooms as opposed to medium or small. Having your own en suite is great although Taly North en suites are a little like plastic spaceships/pods - and you can pretty much sit on the toilet and shower at the same time! The location, although being a fair walk to lectures depending on your building, is great as Taly North is right in the hub of first year student life along with all the other Talybont residences, and has the added bonus of being virtually right next to Tesco Extra.

Very basic, but did the job. Close to the university campus and tesco, as well as being five minutes from the gym. Maintenance are fairly good at sorting problems quickly.

Great social as one of the largest residences. Absolute treks away from uni & the city which I think affects you doing lots of other activities and is a hinderance. Good sized rooms but needs a living room as there isn't much interaction in the flat as the kitchen is too hot to sit in. But it's nice mates are all so close together. Conviently next to McDonald & tescos though.

A Caravan themed en suite and the close proximity to Tesco and Maccies, are only things keeping Talybont north from being a 1 star accomodation. Unless you love asbestos in the walls, you may find your stay in talybont north rather awful. A million miles from uni and town, about as much social space as a prison, and windows that don’t stop the breeze coming through.

Talybont South is the best Cardiff Uni Halls. Talk North is smaller and grotty. Kitchens are very small so difficult to socialise, have pres etc. WiFi doesn’t work well but this is the same across most halls. Pretty far from town but doable walking distance.

Some blocks are not refurbished, the rooms are quite small and can be noisy at night although less noisy that Talybont south. Bathroom is more of a wet room but didn't mind that too much. Quite a walk from main campus and even further to town. Large tesco very close.

Decent rooms, but old fashioned, decent location, though the downside is my perfect boyfriend isn’t here to spend every second by my side.

The room and bathroom very small, far from the uni but the house was big so met a lot of people and the kitchen was redeveloped and modern. Overall nice, but too small.

A little far from the Uni however the halls themselves were decent with reasonable wetroom style en-suites, It’s very easy to make friends with the rest of the people in your building - I still live with the people I met in my Taly north house and will do next year as well! The kitchen as a cooking space is good however not so much as a communal space with the table taking up most of the room next to the fridges. We did have several issues with eduroam WiFi not stretching across our flat.
