What I like about Canterbury is the medieval landmarks, the cathedral, Tudor style houses, the variety of shops and restaurants. I ate out at pizza express with a view of the Marlowe theatre and the river stour, where you can see punting tours. I think Canterbury is a beautiful town and it’s not far from where I live.

The night out culture is mainly based on who you go out with, it has a number of clubs and a huge amount of pubs. A large number of food places all ranging in value for money, however it can be expensive living here, depends where you're coming from. Large tourist culture becuase of the cathedral. Good transport. Regular bus service and 2 train stations.

Canterbury is such a calm city to live in. With nights out for the adventurous and nights in for those who prefer to stay in. It is also very pretty

Canterbury is a beautiful tiny city with much history to see as you explore down the cobbled streets. Visiting the Cathedral is a must. There’s easy links to London (Stratford International is only 40 minutes from Canterbury West station) as well as pretty seaside towns such as Margate and Broadstairs. If you’re looking for crazy nights out Canterbury doesn’t have these weekly but we do have many events throughout the year and I’ve seen plenty of my favourite DJs since being here for university. For eating out and shopping, Canterbury high street has many places down its high street. Punting down the rivers is a must, the one at Westgate towers is best as you can be in your individual group and they let you take food, alcohol and you can smoke. They’re are many amazing independent restaurants and cafes which are a must try such as Korean Cowgirl, A La Turka, Refectory Kitchen and Cafe des Amis. If you’re looking to visit a place where it is easy to always find something to do then Canterbury might not be for you but if you’re happy with walking through an picturesque city everytime you step outside with pretty parks and streets with close links to London and beaches then do visit.

I have been to Canterbury on a Saturday and it was not packed as I expected it to be. The river walk is really pretty, especially at this time of the year where there are a lot of flowers, like daffodils, and tree is bloom, like magnolia or cherry trees. In the city center people can find every kind of shop, from big chains to little independent ones. If you are hungry and you fancy something mouthwatering to eat I suggest you going to the Tiny Tim's Tearoom for excellent and massive scones (plain, with raisins or even savoury with cheese). You will not regret it at all :) The little town itself is very cute, thanks to the architecture, the cathedral and the atmosphere which made me think of middle-ages! It is an escape from the busiest town, like London that is just 2 hours or even less far from Canterbury by train. It is absolutely easy to get there, either with public transports or by car.

Nice town to live and work in. Lovely studying environment, few good clubs, close to other nice places like bluewater or Maidstone so all in all pretty decent

I have lived in Canterbury for nearly 3 years at university and can safely say it is the worst city for nightlife I have ever experienced. There is 1 ‘club’ which is overly-priced for such a tragic venue, although occasionally good acts do attend to play a 1 hour set. It is also difficult to get around past late afternoon time without a taxi, as buses and Uber are scarce. Food-wise there is a lot to choose from - in particular there is a generous amount of vegan friendly places to eat.

Clubs in Canterbury such as Cuban and Chemistry are fun and reasonably priced. There is a mixture of fast food restaurants and nice restaurants with delicious food. In terms of shopping, there are a few popular store but not many. There are movies theatres as well.

This city is Amazing. Canterbury has a very great variety of restaurants for all kinds of taste. If you like burgers then you'll a great range of choices all over town. If you are on a diet but still want to eat out don't worry Canterbury can make you happy and not fat. Not only the food is great, but we also have so many historical places to visit, Canterbury Cathedral is one of the most famous places in Kent. On sunny days you could go for a walk or a run in one of Canterbury's various park. Tired of studying in your room? that's fine you can go study or relax in cosy cafés order a hot coffee and slice of cake and you are good.

The town is lively and has a lot of clothing stores, cafes, and restaurants. It is filled with tourists and students. It has a nice atmosphere, one day a week you have market stalls and there are often street musicians which add to the ambience.

Good variety of shops and take outs and always a great atmosphere in the high street but can get busy at peak times

Canterbury is a beautiful town with many places to visit and enjoy yourself. It is a place for family holidays and a great place to study especially because of the numerous restaurants that won't disappoint you most of time. If you like gourmet burgers Canterbury has various places you can go to vary. Also, in town the nightlife is amazing The loft bar or the Ballroom are the places to be on a Friday night.

Canterbury is a lovely city, great options for food and shopping in such a small area, everything is easy to find and there is a nice balance for small independent shops and large chains. the nightlife is decent although there is little variety, and the city can be expensive

Canterbury is an incredibly beautiful city. It is quaint and has some lovely quiet areas with beautiful gardens and buildings. It also has great shops, restaurants and night life, all while keeping with it’s medieval heritage. The buses are usually really good, with there being one large bus station right in the city centre from where you can go most places! There are also 2 train stations, and all this is within walking distance of the town, making it an ideal place to live, if like myself you don’t drive!

All the positives of a bustling city with quiet aspects of the countryside; lovely rivers, beautiful parks alongside a great selection of shops and nightlife. Great transport links despite being fairly expensive. Many things to do beside shopping and bars too with theatres cinemas escape rooms and a wide selection of gyms + alternative activities such as yoga. Great vegan food

Canterbury is a city with such rich history. As a University of Kent student who used to live on Canterbury campus, being able to look down towards the town center and see the cathedral in all its glory really does take your breath away. There are such a wide range of stores in the center, also many pubs and restaurants.

Value for money: kind of expensive. It's the south innit. Shopping: cute town centre and shops. Can always travel to other places. Nights out: limited to around 5 same places. Gets samey. Overall, nice to visit, very pleasant. Can get pretty boring after a year, especially nights out. Looks pretty.

Canterbury is an unexpectedly lively City, my first impression was that it was an old school medieval looking town but once I got used to it I realised there's actually a lot to do from the nightlife to just social nights out to the cinema. The Town centre is great for shopping with a variety of high street chains to shop at. However the only downside is if you're living far away from town with no vehicle, shops close s little bit earlier than I was used to in London so it took a bit of getting used to. Overall I'd say it's a picturesque little city to live in & I don't know what my Uni experience would've been like I'd it wasn't Canterbury.

Canterbury has a good selection of places to go on nights out, including the Cuban, Chemistry and also clubs and bars on campus, with a good mixture of people around the same age group. The shopping is really good as there is a big Asda and a big Sainsbury's, as well as Lidl and Aldi and a small Sainsbury's and Tesco's. However, the bus fares keep increasing. It is cheaper to get a bus pass for the whole year but paying for the bus every day can add up. The buses usually run quite often and through the night, but they can differ. It would be better if there were more choices of places to eat out and the local places can be quite expensive.

Canterbury is great for sightseeing and family days out. Quite a few Night club options but nothing that compares to the vibes of a night out in London. If you don't have money, and it's cold, there's nothing to do but stay home and entertain yourself. During summer it's a great place for bike rides, close to the sea side and lots of green spaces to relax, have picnics and play games. It's a hub for pensioners, tourists and students. Weird mix.
