Cool location on the canal with a great smoking area. Security guards are calm and friendly. Different nights and events on for everyone.

Thekla is by far one of my favourite nights out in Bristol. It has something for everyone in my friendship group, whether it’s ‘Thekla Thursday’ with many throwback rock songs from your ‘year 10 emo faze’, or Pop Confessionals on a Saturday night with all the best classic pop hits you can sing your heart out to! It’s very student friendly, with reasonably priced drinks and they also often do themed nights which can be a great excuse to get your fancy dress going! (90’s night and Rum Ham “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” night have been my favourite so far! Thekla is always the first place to be suggested when organising a sesh, and let’s not forget the fact that it’s a CLUB ON A BOAT!! how much edgier could Bristol get? -THEKLA IS AWESOME-

Amazing cool venue located in a thriving area, the venue is friendly to student having a student night on a Thursday and drinks are reasonable priced, regulars have good dj’s playing

Good unique venue but the drinks can be expensive. There are loads of different rooms with different music for people with different music tastes.

Thekla is a great club. There are different music nights, it always has a good atmosphere, and the venue is really cool! The queues can be a bit long on the weekend, and the drinks can be a bit pricey but overall thekla is a good student night out.

I’ve only attend a few nights at Thekla and every time I felt like I was babysitting everyone person there. Drink prices were reasonable which results in very drunk people and that always brings unwanted attention from guys and girls. In my opinion Thekla relay to much on gimmicks to get people to attend, and that to me takes away from the music.

We usually go on a Thursday, and drinks are 2 for 1 which makes for a super cheap night out! Throughout the week they have music nights for everyone.

Thekla is a perfect venue for a student night out, particularly on a Thursday. It's really cool due to the fact that its the only club in Bristol on a boat and is perfect for those who love indie rock music or throwback music in the upstairs room. Alternatively, they do cool RnB nights most weekends. 2-4-1 drinks on Thursday's make it a really reasonably priced night. They also have lots of gigs with it being a perfect live music venue with a range of acts from lots of different genres coming to perform. It's also not far off the centre so is a perfect location in relation to halls.

Amazing venue, very different from what I’ve been used to. Great music and affordable drinks.very friendly people, I’m always having conversations with people in smokers. The que for the bar isn’t too long eaither. All round brilliant 10/10

Good location near town centre, cheap drinks and really good music, not your typical club party vibe, more like a pub with a disco dance floor and it's all on a boat

Nice venue and holds good student nights but the queue to get in can be long on some nights - some nights can be quite busy and therefore takes a while to get a drink, but that's the same as any busy club really! It's in a good central location and the fact it's on a boat is fun !! Had some good nights here

Atmosphere and music are great - something completely different the fact it is on a boat too. The smoking area is perfect and nicely decorated with the lights. The only complaint would be the toilets as they tend to smell slightly of sewers but I would imagine that's because it's on a boat. Prices for drinks aren't too bad either.

Small venue, great outside area. 2 for 1 drinks on a Thursday and the indie music is great. Affordable and the staff are very friendly and laid back. Can get a bit overcrowded or claustrophobic on popular events. Has a photo booth

Very good venue. Offers different kinds of music. Is in a very good location and very interesting that it is on a boat. Tickets are reasonable price. Nice smoking room. Good nights out there.

So before I get into this I want to make something clear... Stuffing a boat with 400+ people is a good Idea on paper but when there are too many people you can't move and there's just nowhere to dance. I loved Thekla when I first came to uni, it was amazing, the music was spot on and the crowd was your happy go lucky students just arriving to uni. As time went on it became clear that there was never really much going on here. Sure the drinks were "Cheaper than most places" with their deal of 2 for 1 on a thursday but is that deal even worth it? Now I'll start with the drinks. They have a nice selection of gins, rums, whiskeys. Now they use a house vodka (Moonshine I think) which is in my opinion awful considering they sell it for the same price as a Smirnoff... The cocktails are watered down and the cost of just a shot is nightlife robbery. The toilets are a joke and the security couldn't care less about being there even if they wanted to.

The bar itself is on a boat which is brilliant to any drunk mind and the music is good with a couple of rooms and the smoking area on the deck is very cool. It's a shame the club will be closing!

It's a shame Thekla will soon be shut down because it is a staple of Bristol nightlife. The drinks are cheap (2 pound Jaegerbombs) and the music is decent, particularly on Thursdays. Not to mention the fact that they often get in great musicians to perform there, recently Rex Orange County. Entry is a good £5, free before 11. Standard. Also.... it's on a boat!

Great for students especially 2 4 1 drinks on a Thursday and cheaper entry than most places, although sometimes smells a bit weird

Go to thekla with my flat a lot. First of all its a boat which instantly makes it better the security aren't overly aggressive unlike some other places in bristol as well as this the barstaff are friendly and give fast service. Finally the venue itself is great with an open dancefloor downstairs that provides plenty of space to party.

Fun idea but very expensive. The cocktails are nice but for students not very well priced. Toilets are clean and smoking area is in a cool place

Exciting venue with great nights + 2for1 drinks on Thursdays. Only problem is the harassment, and while the majority f the time the security sort it out, sometimes they don’t believe you and you have to leave to avoid sexual harassment or just aggressive behaviour.

Great laugh, plays proper bangers all night long, and it’s on a boat. Thekla Thursday is always a good night to go on as it’s rock and indie 🤟ðŸ»

Very good overall venue. Themed nights make it an interesting experience! Thursdays are my favourite due to the genre of music played. 2 for 1 drinks also add to the hype, making the entire night a great one. Live music too in a venue with a fair bit of space and cool decor. Partying on a boat is a highlight too.

Thekla has a sweet atmosphere staff are friendly. It’s set in a boat by the harbour which is one of my favourite places in Bristol. It has a balcony on the top of the boat where you see the dance floor. It can be a little expensive.
