The overall experience of living in Clifton Hill House was enjoyable, friendly and lots of fun! It was a great halls for meeting people and for having fun in the city. The location was perfect for a first year halls accommodation, being close to the university and the triangle for nights out. One of the highlights about Clifton Hill house is the formals that are put on for the residences which are often free. It has a good social atmosphere with large corridors allowing you to make many close friendships and choose between a variety of people. The food at Clifton Hill house is okay, with portion sizes being a little on the small side and not always a massive choice of food. The food however was tasty and the option of a cooked breakfast in the morning was a luxury. The rooms were quite dated, however they were a decent size for a first year room with a large desk and good wardrobe space. The kitchens in the fry corridors were a decent size for catered halls and crucial for socialising with the corridor.

My halls is off campus but only a 10-15 minute walk away which is more than bearable, though it is on top of a hill which makes constant journeys up and down to lectures tiring! The facilities are great, there is a massive junior common room with a bar, and an equally big dining room, both of which provide good social settings. My room is spacious, albeit a tad dated, but has all the necessary amenities.

The socials were really fun with good themes and it was good to meet many people as the hall was catered. You could sit with anyone and meet so many more people than if self-catered. The corridors had lots of people rather than the typical small flat so you could meet more people. The corridors were organised into people with similar interests which was good.

I think one of the best halls for location to both uni and city centre stuff, e.g. shops, cinema, and really close to the Triangle for clubbing. However, basic bedrooms and kitchens, which seem EXTREMELY basic when considering the price we're paying. Food is only ok. Social life pretty quiet, but thats fine if you like studying. Overall, a good hall.
