As a student, and a vegan, in Brighton it can occasionally be quite pricey to live here. But it is by far the most enjoyable place. There are plenty of options when it comes to food, shopping, eating out, going out, and for events and activities. Being just by the sea provides lovely views and great days out when it’s nice and sunny. Shopping-wise you have Churchill Square, main high street, the lanes, London Road shops, not to mention Hove high street. There are loads of great events here too, people are always organising things like food tasting, vintage clothing fairs, festivals, gigs, visitors etc. Planning nights out can be tough from the amount of venues to go to, but most are right on the seafront or nearby, but for students they’re usually not too pricey, and if you do it right, you always end up at one of the countless kebab shops dotted around.

Great place so many different food places catering for all vegans, veggies, meat eaters. Different cuisines also available. Range of shops for food shopping all supermarkets and also speciality shops and food markets on. Shopping for gifts and clothes etc so easy great shopping centre with high street shops and also the pained for a more unique shopping experience and independent and vintage stores. Nightlife- always something on for everyone no matter what you’re into or what night of the week it is. Transport is fine southern can be a bit of a nightmare but regular bus service reasonably priced for students. Rent can be very expensive and mould/damp can be a real issue.

The university is in a great location. We're about a 30 minute bus journey or 10 minute train journey away from the main town, Brighton. Travel is unfortunately very expensive (2.50 for a bus single) but then again, everything in Brighton is very expensive. You can never really cheap night out, unless you buy a few cans and sit on the beach, but nights out are great. There are loads and loads of bars and clubs. Shopping is great too, there is a shopping centre as well as the laines. The laines offer unique and interesting things.

Brighton is such an amazing city. With countless amounts of nightclubs, pubs and bars, there really is something for everyone on a night out. There’s mainstream shops in Churchill square and the high street and more quirky shops in the Laines - which is a day out in itself. There’s also Brighton marina which has loads of places to eat, and activities to do like the cinema, arcade, bowling and glow in the dark mini golf. Nights out aren’t the cheapest, it being a big city and all, but you’ll definitely have a good time. There’s 2 major universities and loads of colleges in the area so it really is a student city.

I chose Brighton Uni more for the city than the uni (thankfully, since the uni kinda sucks) but have not been disappointed with the location at all. Felt like home from day 1, such a buzzing atmosphere, it's brilliant to have the beach, countryside and city life all within such close quarters!

The nights out in Brighton is amazing. We have a lot of night clubs around the centre city and each of them has their own style. There is loads of food in the city. I’ve tried Greek food, Korean food, Chinese food, Vietnamese food so far and they are awesome. I mainly go shopping around Churchill square because u can find anything u need. I’m looking forward to summer and enjoy the time with the beach.

The city is fantastic for students and is becoming even more friendly each year. The nightlife is diverse so appeals to everyone and the character of the city is interesting.

Brighton is a wonderful city to be young in. The level of diversity and inclusivity that is offered by the people who live here, cannot be matched anywhere else in the UK, and I'm not only referring to the LGBTQ community. You don't think you can sing very well but want to try an open mic night? People will cheer you on regardless of your level of talent. You want to take up a hobbie you've never tried before? Someone will offer to help get you started. You want to sit on the sidelines and just watch everyone thrive in their creativity? There'll be others sitting with you, happy to share your quiet, and you'll be sincerely thanked for coming to observe by the creatives. The pebbles can be a turn off but they stop you from ending up covered in sand every time you go to the beach. The wind can be harsh but with the most pubs per capita of any UK city, you'll be easily sheltered. The centre of town might seem rather repetitive from an outsiders perspective but once you find your flow in the city, it can be as repetitive as you like. The beach is wonderful. The people are wonderful. Brighton is wonderful. Visit and you'll see that for yourself.

Amazing city with so much to do and see and not far to travel to town centre from uni. Loads of great nights out with a big variety for different people. All the shops you could need and loads of cool cafes/restaurants (including many independent and vegan).

Brighton is the perfect city. There is a great mix of of art, culture and eccentricity. Lots of music venues, bars, pubs. Amazing food. Great community and local culture across the city. Well accommodated to students as Brighton is not the only university.

Brighton is the perfect student city. As it is not too big it means you bump into alot of people from your course on nights out and around town. The lanes offer a cute day out full of coffee shops and vintage stalls for you to 'brighton up' your outfit, but most of all brighton is best known for its beach. It offers an escape from city life.

Brighton is in the south so let's start by saying you're gonna get the warmest weather so that's a major plus! Also the beach is a great hangout spot for stressful moments during exams ! In terms of night life you'll always have a good time cause there are many clubbing or punning options sending on what you're feeling. Both unis are close to town so it's simple to get there and the buses are always coming so transport is convenient. Although Brighton is kinda expensive it's manageable and is worth it considering the stuff you can do!!

Brighton is such a lovely place to live. There’s a bar or pub on every street corner and a number of funky clothes shops. It’s even more fun in the summer when you can chill down on the beach with your friends. The only problem is the prices of everything is the same as in London but we don’t get the London rate of student finance.

You need never get bored in this lovably eccentric city. There’s always something unexpected to enjoy – be it a sea-facing yoga class, watching a skateboarding Jack Russell, or browsing through a surprisingly good beachfront hippy market. The secret is to roam freely and keep your eyes peeled. Sure, Brighton has acquired a certain London sophistication in recent years, but sheeny glamour never wins out here. Head to the boho North Laine district, and you find offbeat designers and dingy flea markets happily melding with sleek restaurants and bars. Throw in gentrified Regency squares, oddball museums, and a clutch of well upholstered parks with traditional cafés attached – and you have a city that truly caters for all tastes.

Brighton is definitely the best place to study! I’m a music student, which fits in with the city perfectly. The music scene here is insane, with a bunch of gigs always happening within walking distance which you can either play at, or watch for fun. The nightlife here is always great, always busy and a night to remember

My favourite place and definitely want to continue living here after uni! Feels like a safe city and everyone is accepting to others, there are many varieties of places for nights out including bars, pubs, clubs. Most are student friendly places and have reasonable prices or discounts.

Brighton is my favourite location and I'm so glad I came to uni here. As a city it gives you the chance to feel independent and there's many opportunities for things to do, yet it's a smaller city and also feels very safe and accepting of everyone. There are a variety of clubs, pubs, and other activities available, my friends and I love going to the karaoke booths on occasion. Being near the sea as well is lovely in the warmer weather to sit on the beach together and listen to music. It can be fairly expensive at times for accommodation but for a city that is to be expected, and there are many student friendly shops and places for reasonable prices. The buses are always regular and run late at night making it easy to get around, and the city is also very cycle friendly.

Absolutely perfect location - everything you could need and all very close together too. The town, the beach, halls, clubs, pubs, shopping, food, all within walking distance of each other. Couldn't be happier to live here. It's so convenient and really makes things go smoother.

Nice location and nightlife, it was overall a good experience and I would suggest any looking at unis to look at Brighton because it has a good nightlife and some good courses to get on

Brighton is the best place for student life. It is small enough to feel like a local and to really get to know the city, but it is big enough to never be able to get through all the pubs and have the best choice in nightlife.
