It is close to the university, has sofas, the beds are 3/4 beds and the rooms are spacious. However no facilities are provided, toaster, vacuum, mop, iron, kettle. They run out of hot water showers easily; the maintainance team is extremely slow, the first week I had freezing cold showers for 2 weeks before someone came to fix it, 2 weeks to fix the broken oven. Security is questionable and fire alarms are set off at least 5 times a week. Not recommended.

Great value for money, rooms are spacious with an en-suite, shared kitchens are also large and include a tv and sofas which is the best you'll get in the area for the same price. Small free On site gym. Short walk to Aston University. Only downside is the area which is known to be unsafe.

Room was fairly large with a comfortable double bed and en-suite. Kitchen was big however it would be better if there were a few more hobs to use as there are 6 people to a flat. Some of the chairs were broken when I first moved in so it would be nice if they were replaced every year rather than just re-using the cracked ones. Some of the rooms would often get spiders underneath the desk.

The rooms are nice and fairly big however the bathroom is too small. The walls are very thin so you can hear a lot of noise. Overall it's an average place to live

Good value for money, friendly staff and great shuttle bus service and gym. Gym could be open longer, security is not the best here. Smells of weed everywhere. No social common rooms.

Very bad location, girls can’t walk home alone due to how many homeless are in the area! Not only that but there are often drug dealers hanging around who approach you. The actually rooms are really nice and I love the space and the fact that there’s a gym! It’s also a super social halls which is good but the noise can get a bit much from the flats above. Also always run out of hot water

Canalside was a fun place to live with spacious rooms and at a fraction of the price of other halls. I lived here for more than 2 years simply because of that reason. Only downside is the run down surrounding area.

Some of the staff are unprofessional and unhelpful whereas some are the complete opposite. The noise in the whole accommodation is unnecessary, especially outside my window. The gym is the only thing that remotely saves it and even that is small. The location itself is very dangerous and unsafe.

Facilities are ok. Could be better but could be worse. The area of Aston is great, the little Tesco is so handy but really busy.

Very nice aesthetic - homey sofas (our flat is fortunate as most other flats i've been to the sofas are all ripped), nice big social kitchen space, breakfast bar with stools, stunning views of a car park. Room is quite spacious, nice wooden flooring, 3/4 bed, large desk. Gym onsite - included in the cost. Only recently started going, and not very knowledgeable when it comes to gym equipment, but so far so good. Often very quiet which is nice. Not open at weekends which is a shame. The worst thing about canalside is the constant loud music! But that could just be bad luck, obviously that depends on who is living near you. However we've received a lot of emails asking people to respect others with noise levels, especially late at night, so I think it may be an issue in most blocks. The second worst thing is the area is rough and the security isn't great. I never walk outside by myself past 9pm due to two friends in the area being mugged/stabbed (they're ok) - but this is just birmingham in general to be honest! And we've had issues with the main door entering our block catching, and an intruder came in and there was an incident reported (I don't know the details). The bathroom is very small, it's manageable but the shower curtain sticks to you! Had an incident with my window cracking due to the cold weather, however they were very quick to check it when I reported it, and it will be replaced soon. (No one else I know has had this problem!) Nice friendly reception staff. Also very close to uni - only a 5-10 min walk.
